72,000 people in attendance and 1.9 Billion people watching from around the world. Freddie performed against doctors orders with a throat infection.He said it felt like broken glass when he sang. Live Aid made 124 million dollars for famine in Africa. When the boys left the stage a Prince from Dubai donated $1 million

They said the acoustics onstage were awful and that they couldn't even hear one another. That's where their professionalism comes into play. They had rehearsed the set extensively beforehand to get the timing right. You can see lots of visual cues between them too. A truly remarkable performance with no autocue, earpieces, etc. They were on fire! Freddie was enjoying himself so much. By the end of the set you could tell his voice was beginning to crack (he wasn't supposed to be singing at all). That's when you can hear Roger singing louder and louder to support him. Again, that shows how professional they were. Very tight band.

All of the proceeds from live aid were donated to feed the people of Africa. This was an all day global event they televised for well over 1.5 billion viewers that started in Australia (Oz for Africa), then broadcast from Wembley and then from Philly which had more than 100k people in attendance. I was at the Philly concert and they broadcast Wembley for us. It was all incredible, and this performance certainly stood out. Phil Collin’s performed in London and also appeared in Philly in the evening which was also unforgettable! Even though it was close to 100 degrees that day, it was truly one of the best days of my life. Not only the music but the spirit of the event and overall caring for others. What a time!

This was an all day event with many of the best groups and concerts ran side by side in London and in Philadelphia going back and forth from one venue to the other while the stage was cleared and set up for the next band. Each band was only allowed 20 minutes for their set. This concert was broadcast around the world and everyone I knew was watching/listening to it.

Don't forget Queen was FOUR people. The only band where every member wrote at least one #1 hit! Two of their biggest hits "Another one bites the dust" and "You're my best friend" were written by bassist John Deacon who never gets mentioned. Freddie was the charismatic front man but they were a force together. Yes, not a sea of cell phones, just listening to REAL music and seeing the band. Radio gaga is precisely about that....The glow of the radio was our teenage friend back then, our night light. "We watched the stars on video for hours and hours, we have no need to use our ears". Radio "stick around cause we might miss you when we get tired of all these visuals", in other words LISTEN to the music, don't just go for the videos that distract from the music and lack of talent..Speaking of a choir, listen to the audio of "Let me Live". Sounds like gospel.

It wasn’t only Queen who realized they had been sensational. Paul Gambaccini, who was part of the BBC broadcasting team at Live Aid, recalled the awe among other superstar musicians watching backstage. “Everybody realized that Queen was stealing the show,” said Gambaccini. These were the very words Elton John uttered when he rushed into Mercury’s trailer after the set. “You bastards, you stole the show,” joked the charismatic star. “Queen smoked ’em. They just took everybody. They walked away being the greatest band you’d ever seen in your life, and it was unbelievable,” said Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters. “And that’s what made the band so great; that’s why they should be recognized as one of the greatest rock bands of all time, because they could connect with an audience.” Their impact was summed up by Geldof. “Queen were absolutely the best band of the day,” the Live Aid organizer said. “They played the best, had the best sound, used their time to the full. They understood the idea exactly, that it was a global jukebox. They just went and smashed one hit after another. It was the perfect stage for Freddie: the whole world.”

Welcome back ❤I was 15 when Live Aid happened and it was Epic. I was watching Queen with my Dad. I was already a huge Queen fan and When Freddie played the audience a home it was great. No other band did that only Freddie. He was instructed by his doctor not to perform because he had a throat infection (Freddie at 70 % is better than most at a 100%😂) Freddie said Queen would be there because he wasn't going to miss performing for the crowd at Wembly but mostly the 1.8 billion people watching from home. When Queen was done I realized my Dad became a fan that day as did many. There was all the best bands of the time . David Bowie had to take the stage after Queen and reportly said How The F*CK am I to follow that 😂 Great reaction and Peace out ✌️ ☮️ BTW I suggest the movie Bohemian Rapsody. It's a great movie about Freddie and Queen you might want to check out on your own time ❤ You were talking about festivals. You should react to some of the acts from Sarstock that took place in Toronto in 2003 there were 500,000 crazy Canadians there and there was 15 acts including The Guess Who, Rush AC/DC and the Rolling Stones headlining. But AC/DC Stole the show. I was about 20 rows back and it was a sea of people and we rocked out til 3am from 12 pm.

If you want not to be blocked or copyrighted use the Queen official channel to source your material. Another point is queen was a live band,on stage they were electric . 1. Liar,at the Rainbow in London 1974. This very early Queen and you will see they always rocked. Freddie wrote this in the 60's. 2. Now I'm here, Wembley Saturday night concert 1986. This was their last tour after that Freddie was too sick. It such an exciting performance. 3. Want to hear rock shortly before Freddie death? Then try Scandal, written by Brian it explains that it was the press harassing him when he was seperating and planning a divorce also it reflected on how cruel the press was, camping outside his home in the months leading to him having to hide away.

Hi…..very, very good react from you 😊 this was not only Queen who was there. This was as list a 16 hour’s tv broadcast. There on Wembley it was about 72.000 wiers. In Philadelphia it was about 94.000 wier’s. And there was ca 1.2 mill tv-wier’s to the bigest consert ever. They play for free to help the Etiopian people to get food. After Queen I think David Bowie came on. The two «police-man» was a komedi-duo Smith and Jones. Very popular at that time, remember I saw them in their oun tv-show. Laf alout of them 😅😅 think that was not autotune, this was pure power from pure music-genuis. I never hear at todays «music»…..only the goos old rock’n roll. My two music-heroes are Freddie and Prince. Please see the movie Purple Rain. Thats almoust a dokumentary from his life all in that movie is about to bee true. Exsept what his dad do to himself. Thats not true. I see that movie over and over. But not the Queen-movie. That should never been made. Freddie show’s his butt to the press, he hated them, they was only intrested in was he gay or not. He was not pure gay, he was bisexual. Here he was HIV+ only him new that then. I have been a huge Queen fan sence 1977 ❤ so I have read and heard so much over the years. I think you shall hear Somebody to love from the Montreal concert in -81. See the hole concert, the you can hear Roger sing his oun song I’m in love with my car. He and Brian was fenomenal backing singers, if you see John Deacon «Deacy» sing the mic are on very law, or of. He think he dont had a voice to sing. If you go back to 74/75 . He was maybee singing with Freddie, or he was lipsinging on a concert the song Liar, there he have a very good bas-solo. Look at the 70’s omg they was so young and more hard rocked, and with ballades too like White Queen, My melankoli blues, Death on two legs (that you must read about 😅) The masj of the black Queen, 39», Seven seas of rye, Dont stop me Now, and many many more. You never go wrong with either Queen or Prince…..I see forverd to see react with you…..❤

Queen was not even originally booked for this event. There was some discord in the group due to freddy trying to go solo. They show it in the movie. They felt that they had to be there, as it was a charity event and they needed to be relevant again. So, as per usual, they showed up and stole the show. I've heard that Bowie was mock-pissed after that performance and in passing called them "bastards!". He knew he wouldn't be able to follow that performance, who could? I'm sure he wasn't really mad, but it put a lot of pressure on everyone else that followed. I think that because it was a charity gig, some act thought they could "phone it in". This is mostly speculation on my part, I wasn't there and didn't even watch it, as I wasn't as into music as I am now. I was 20 at the time this happened and was probably busy with my friends doing what 20 year olds did back then....

@imweakfordeaky 5 күн бұрын
The movie was “dramatized”… in reality , there was NO discord over Freddie doing a solo album . Fact is, Roger actually did a solo album first. They were NOT “irrelevant” at this point, and had just finished their highly successful The Works tour just a couple months prior. The “not originally booked” is somewhat of an exaggeration too - they were approached by Bob Geldof pretty early in the process Geldof said “This kind of event is exactly your kind of thing, Freddie!” - meaning a huge venue / packed house was something Queen was VERY accustomed to, unlike many bands who were used to no more than 20-30k audiences. The big thing that made this different for Queen is that it was going to be satellite broadcast worldwide to *almost 2 BILLION people*. It took a bit for Queen to agree, but ultimately they said yes - and since Queen takes a lot of pride in their professionalism, they rented a big rehearsal hall and practiced for a full week, for hours on end, to perfect their playlist and play it all exactly within the given time frame - they even had timers stationed all around their rehearsal space to make sure.

He had a throat infection, likely a precursor, but wasn't diagnosed until 1987.

Something worth watching & possibly reacting to is a Queen documentary that the BBC put out back in 2011 called “Days of Our Lives.” You can find it on here by searching “Queen days of our lives” & the result (first or second) that’s almost 2 hours is what you wanna watch.
