Hi North. Tom from the second story here. Many apologies for that script. There was a fully abridged and grammatical sound version of the script that went out too, as the origgional which you read was sent in error before I could check it over. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences too, I do take solace in the fact that you are strong enough to share those experiences. Really good to know I'm not alone on this boat/Mersy Ferry 😂 You hit the nail on the head about my mother. And belive me when I say it took a Herculean level of strength not to write about her. The nightmare almost painted her in a positive light. Many years of hurt and pain where suffered at her hands growing up, as she wields her narcissism like a guilt dipped poison blade that hits on +2 with Precision. Since starting a family of my own I vowed that my beautiful children would never know the pain that I felt growing up. I feel like a bit of a coward for ditching the game side of the hobby after that experience. I only wish that I'd had a strong role model growing up. One who could have guided me, told me to swallow the lumps and just enjoy things while you can. I was a bit harsh on that Ned guy. His sence of humour at first is probably a really good one to have. I shit you not that is how it did happen. I just had onfidence growing up. And it was a cocking noise like loading a pistol that he did with a wink after we left. Many thanks for reading and sharing your hurt too buddy. P.s.I do belive you have responded to my game finder add on the discord too apologies for not starting a dialogue right away as my kids have been unwell and I'm just getting back on track. Let me know if you'd still be interested and we will hold a 40k equivalent of a Derby match 👍

Hello Mr North you said to comment here. I will repeat the advice that I was given a long time ago. I did do it but, it was very scary and painful. This will help anyone get over the feelings that the guy had at the end of the video both Mr North and the Hobby Nightmare Guy as well. First of all, you look at someone and you ask the question would you let them live in your house Rent free? If the answer is no then why are you letting them live rent-free in your head? Do you think that they’re thinking about you all the time? If so that’s very narcissistic/anxiety-ridden. Secondly, I was told by my therapist to pray for the people I hated most on this earth. I do mean hate! I reserve that word for someone that I want to do serious harm to, never want them to succeed. Want everything to go wrong for them, the children to be ill, just real nasty levels of pettiness and the worst side of my dark human nature. After telling me therapist that I would never pray for this person I’ve had enough of them living room free at my house so I gave it a try. I prayed for these people after saying I wouldn’t, I wished them the best and for health of the family and for any problems that they had to be taken away, to win the lottery. A week later I realised I hadn't thought about the person once. All of that hatred just disappeared. I don’t think about them anymore. I certainly don’t hate them and it was such a burden lifted from me. Anger is a good emotion because it helps you keep everything together but over time it damages you, the stress hormone Cortizone builds up and you can get ill. I’ll share something private, my father would make sly insults at me whenever we had a dinner party he would try and sell me to strangers. He would say things like “I’ll keep the dog but I’ll sell him for a fiver if you want”. Of course, people would say no, and that’s painful, as a child because you’re not fully grown and the whole world become unstable because I'm going to be sold. I am not loved! Please believe me when I was 18, I let him have it. I ripped into him and told him how much he’d hurt me and how vile he had been. We cleared it, and he has never done it since. Be careful what you say to your kids and your friends because words do hurt. Lastly don’t trust the doctor when they say this might hurt a little bit prepare yourself for the worst pain ever especially in a sexual disease clinic. Peace Brothers, I hope my honesty help other to not feel alone. 💯❤️🇬🇧🫶🫡

Hi North, as a guitarist I'm going to have to educate you on the long nail thing. Playing certain styles (delta blues) I have a thumb pick for the bass strings but keep my index, middle and ring finger nails long for picking strings individually. This allows one to self accompany with a slide, playing rhythm and lead at the same time essentially. And forget playing classical or flamenco without nails. There are finger picks but I don't have the same level of control, it's like fucking with 5 condoms on. As we consider our picking nails part of our musical equipment I can assure you that most guitarists who use them are going to look after them better than most women. Don't get me wrong, I still use a regular pick when it's time for Sabbath and Led Zep, but the fact remains: Guitar nails are not a sign of bad grooming.

God I hate the whole idea of cheating. Yes I’ve had those thoughts, no I haven’t acted on them. It’s one of those things where people know what they are doing, but it just becomes miserable to play against.

I've come across it only a few times. Each time I felt disgust or pity. The game is more than securing objectives or slaying a warlord, it's adapting to circumstances and testing your mettle. If you resort to cheating you've lost the game, even if you win.

I can attest that things like the last story did happen in the 90s. This was usually by managers that played their roleplay character as real life and sometimes took things way too far with how they interacted with people.

I remember one GW staffer in the 90s who constantly spoke "as an Ork". Honestly, it was just tiring trying to deal with him. My last visit to that store, I was asking when something was due for release, and couldn't get an answer, just bad gruff. Cockney accent nonsense about "runtz". I gave up in the end. Thinking back, he probably just didn't know but at the time, I was a guy in my 20s on my lunch break who just wanted an answer and didn't have time for his nonsense.

And the original guy being looked after by police. In the UK if someone breaks into your home... You do not have the right to defend it. You have to let it happen and cooperate with the police. Oh boy Toms story hit hard. Soecially cause I went through something similar. My parents never had my back when I was a kid. Unfortunately in my case this resulted in me basically getting entirely pissed off. The down side of being a military brat, you pick up the bad habits of stuborness, smoldering barely controlled anger and apparently in my case, most likely due to my dad, the drill sergeant voice and vocabulary. Well bullying turned into fist fights, name calling turned into me turning the name callers into sniveling puddles of wet emotionally scarred mess, and eventually at age 13, in 7th grade(from the Balkans we go to first grade age 7, in my case 6) it all culminated in the school director getting torn a new one by a kid in his office, with the entire teaching staff in the teachera lounge which was outside his office. Nowadays carpentry and smithing help deal with most of the pent up emotions I find hard to process. Edit: for further context I main Salamanders....

Actually North, classical guitar players need long nails, but only on the right hand. You will Actually know when he's a guitar player who needs it because it looks unnaturally long and weird.. on the left hand it would get in the way of pushing the strings against the fretboard.. so if a guy has long nails only on his right hand, he plays nylon classic.. a very small part of guitar players.. as a guitar player myself, but not classical, I play electric.. just to clear things out, one hand only maybe a guitar player, both hands, not a chance..

@Backstabmacro4 ай бұрын
So much of 40k’s line of sight issues could be resolved by going to a Fixed Height score attached to both terrain and models. Malifaux and MCP use a system like this where terrain or models larger than you can provide cover and interrupt LOS. Could just be as simple as having assigned height scores for all basic model types and then assigning scores to terrain at the start of the game. “This ruin here on the side is size 4, that wall there is size 2, and the giant forest terrain in the middle is size 5, so total LOS block.” Think 1=swarms, 2=infantry, 3=heavy infantry/big dudes like Tyrant Guard, 4=many vehicles, 5=titanic stuff.

i need to correct you in the Nails toppic North... As a gitarrist myself (and i dont have long nails, play with fingers as well as with picks). I need to tell you, that the really best gitarrists play with fingers. And no, the best gitarrists are not Rock or Metal Gitarrists. TBF, some have and use long fingernails, but not all. IMO i dont mind long nails, as long they're clean and taken care of. Otherwhise yes, its pretty discusting.

I don't care what North or anybody says - I don't buy into this 'I don't get to see your codex at all' or 'I don't get to see it more than three times'. Bullshit , your codex is fully one third of the rules. You have the core rule book and one codex for each player. I'm not gonna play a game where I don't even get to see fully one third of the rules if need be. It's like playing monopoly and then half the board is in the other player's bag. I say, CODICES ON THE TABLE! (and dice in the tray).

Regarding the new worst hobbyist ever, i totally believe this guy exists. I've met people like this in the hobby, though never GW staff before. I cant speak for this guy but the other guys i knew behaved like this for a couple of reasons - for banter and immersion (at the expense of other people so very lacking in awareness or just not caring) and also because they want to push people to improve and step up their game. It's not a method that works on shy people and especially not a child, so it comes down to very poor communication skills or bullying a kid to get a few laughs from regulars. It's not acceptable in either case but in their minds they are creating an immersive, chilled atmosphere. Edit: started writing this before the end of the story - nah this guy was a coward who picked on little kids to make the regulars laugh.

I remember i wounded his land raider i think and it would have killed it. I dropped my dice on the ground and i picked it up and he said i rolled a six. I was like i didn't even see you roll the dice how am i supposed to know that. He squirmed saying oh well other people saw it. I start getting irritated by his stupid logic and told him going forward leave the dice on the table. Pretty sure he won that game but there was a moment when i could have saved my storm raven and where the dice landed he couldn't see and i could have easily been like yup a 6. But im no cheater and i failed the save. Moral of the story, don't be a twat

Long finger nails are definitely gross, but usually for guitarists its not all the fingernails that are long and they are used for a different style of playing than what you can do with a pick. My uncle played guitar this way, but he always took care if them. Just wanted to throw that out there.
