My favorite urban base tutorial I've found. In the absence of super cheap paper plates, putting a paper towel on the plate and pouring over that seems to work pretty great.

I've looked up a few different tutorials on how to do urban bases, and this is by far my favourite method. The cheap paper plate is a great tip, and so is leaving a gap to have things poking out from underneath, like rebar etc.

A useful trick for the hammer stage is to put the whole thing in a bag first; that way, all the shrapnel stays in the bag and you don't have to pick it up! Great stuff, I'll have to try the paper plate trick!

That plaster stuff looks way better than cork. You can decorate and paint cork as much as you want, it still shows that it's cork. Now I only have to figure out what kind to pick (since I'm in Austria and don't have access to the same one)

I can work cork to make it look like rocks, but I don't think you can make it look like concrete rubble. I agree though that cork just looks like cork if you are not good at working it properly. you have to carve it and pull bits out of it and stuff to make it actually look like rock. Using wood chips is better for creating natural rock though, it doesn't take half the amount of work.

From other viewers experience the plaster I specifically used I guess works best, other brands are too brittle. If the plate is uncoated and just bare paper it should stick if it gets plenty saturated

My issue with this is that the "top layer" of the plaster easily comes off if it gets handled rough at all. I've had chunks peel off when trying to attach a miniature to it. It's the only reason why I've stayed with Cork. If you have a solution tho, I'd love to hear it.
@theminiaturemen40k

It may be the different types of plaster. The stuff I use in the video claims to be twice as tough and dries extremely hard and after nearly a year of games I haven’t had any flaking or issues
@power_SERG

@@theminiaturemen40k thank you. Will try different types. Also I tried using the plate trick but my plaster separates from the plates, so it might just be the plaster after all.
