@@PeteTheWargamer And for Imperial Fists. I was looking for a generalist and versatile chapter to play, one that I could field in different ways, and I considered going with Imperial Fists. If I had, I definitely would've based them in urban rubble. I ended up going with Ultramarines (the blue and gold speaks to me, and I'm a sucker for Roman stuff), and I'm actually having trouble choosing the right basing scheme.

In the process of basing my first models in 14 years (a load of poxwalkers) and have been hacking away at sprue and playing around with texture paint to try and make urban rubble bases. This has been a real help, some great ideas for the more significant models in the future. As an aside, incase you copy and paste to future descriptions, you have an extra "conversion equipment" above your recording equipment in the description. Great video, thanks for the tips.

I'd love to see you do a scratch build, I've been watching a guy called Bill making stuff make like robots and terrain out of any old bits, I think it'd be interesting to just see what you can do with no themes or styles to stick to, just complete creative freedom

Very cool! I like that dust effect. Also, I use cork tile to make rocks on a lot of bases, but I'd never tried cutting into bricks like this for rubble... looking forward to trying this next time I base up a 40k miniature.

Really great basing and really useful tips as usual. I might actually use them for my loyalist sons of Horus Kill Team. It would be interesting to see more unique specific bases. Like for example say a Hive city sewers, a Necron Tomb Complex, the interior of a Tyranid Hive ship or perhaps a base where a model is partially submerged in water. I’ve been wanting to try that last one for a while myself but have never been able to figure out how exactly to pull it off, especially with the slanted edges of 40k bases.

Could cut leftover sprue be used instead of cork, it would be smoother but the rubble would appear more man made. It seems like a great way to get rid of all of my leftover sprues as well.
