This was a great tour and it was nice that Jamie wanted to show you local eats there in Hanoi versus what we're normally accustomed to eating here in the US. Some of the places remind of the Philippines and how many of the vendors are there. Great video!!

Very knowledgeable tour guide. I would never have guessed you were going to Hanoi, Vietnam! I was kinda expecting more a crowd of people all over the place, but it wasn't. That I can handle, but the heat I cannot. Such a variety of cheap delicacies. What was the purpose of the worms and why was it in there in the first place?? lol You're brave girl --- soooo not squeamish. Can't wait to see what's next!

It could get crowded at times but not like NYC crowded. It was clean and everyone was so hospitable and friendly. The worms are a delicacy only found during April but now they freeze them to eat year round.

Chao Misty and Jamie!!!! I'm excited that your in Hanoi, Vietnam. It was such a lovely city and so relaxing. I liked how the tour started off with making the rolls. Nhi tried to teach me how to make them. The fried Crab looked like a crazy fun small treat! And that's amazing with the person Mr. Giang that invented Egg Coffee, if it taste like Chocalate, I want some:):) soo much good treats on this tour. Cam On for showing us all the food on this I look forward to seeing more!!! And have you been to Hoan Kiem Lake at night?? The bridge is so beautiful and lit !!:)🇻🇳

Great food tour - all the ones I've seen out of Hanoi have been fantastic and the foreingers really seem to enjoy them. One thing I have to point out: the first dish (nem nuong) isn't from the north. It's from the Central region, specifically well known in Nha Trang. There are still quite a few northern dishes left to try such as cha ca la vong (turmeric fish with dill), bun dau mam tom (not for the faint of heart, but you can always ask for the flavored fish sauce instead of shrimp paste), bun ca (fish noodles - has a combo of fried and other fish in it), etc.
@FoodFiend
@FoodFiend Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I had cha ca la vong twice at my tours. I loved it. I ran out of time and book marked bun ca but didn't get a chance to eat it. 😢 I am willing to try bun dau mam tom! The smell wouldn't bother me 🙂
@doodahgurlie
@doodahgurlie Жыл бұрын
@@FoodFiend You're a brave one if you're willing to try bun dau mam tom as many Viets will run away from anything with the word "mam tom" in it...including me. LOL! I'm okay if it's cooked into the broth like in bun bo Hue, but as a dip, that is too much. If you go back, try it at the place Max McFarlin (and Chris Lewis) ate at recently. Chris usually won't eat mam tom, but he tried it at that restaurant and said it was good. Max loves bun dau mam tom as does Sonny from the "Best Ever Food Review Show". Oh, and you definitely need to go to snail (oc) street try the snails/mussels/clams/oysters, etc. I don't know if they have oc street like in Saigon, but I'm sure they do. Everyone loves the snails in coconut sauce or the huge steamed snails stuffed with ground pork and snail mixture, etc. And if you make it to Da Nang, you should hit up the seafood restaurant that "Flora and Note" went to there. Flora is like a cook/chef from Canada who lives in Thailand and said it was probably the best thing she ever ate. And if you make it down to Phu Quoc, eat at the restaurants on the water like "Shot in the Dark Travel" did.
@FoodFiend

@@doodahgurlie I love Max and Chris. I also follow Flora and Note and love Phuc Map. I've had oc and love it. I love all Vietnamese food 😋 One day I'd love to explore the whole country. So little time though! One day when I retire and have more time I will 🙂

Hi Sista. Love vietnamese food. Always wanted to go there & eat the street foods. Got to be careful though, I've heard of plenty people getting sick, because there stomachs are not used to it. Debbie and I at one time wanted to buy a home there & retire. Home's very affordable with land for a garden. The only draw back is horrible heath care for seniors. God bless you guys & keep up the inspirational videos.

Mahalo. I've never gotten sick here or Thailand. But I did reactivate an ulcer or heartburn from eating too much chili. 🤣Are you allowed to buy houses here as a non Vietnamese citizen? That's pretty cool. I know Thailand will not let you buy land there. You should move to Bangkok and rent for cheap. Great hospitals and Healthcare.

Hi! No I didn't get sick but overdid it with the chili and fresh garlic so I have mean heartburn 🤣 The ice is always filtered in the big cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh so you're good. Make sure they are cylindrical with a hole in the middle. That's ice made at a company that's safe. But don't drink the tap water. Most all of the hotels give you 2 free bottles of water a day.
