You did an excellent job on that solar inverter system. I live off grid with an electric car and I can appreciate how powerful and clean that install is. All you need now is about 300 kWh of lithium battery and you’ll be laughing

I recommend you invest in lifepo4 prismatic cells. The diy boxes for the lf280k are pretty good, with jk inverter bms (1/3 of the cost of the victron batteries) . Have a look on Andy from Off-Grid garage.

I would also second this. For your large system you should at least use 3 boxes DIY with the new EVE MB31 cells and JK BMS. I am at the moment in the process building my third box with 16,4kWh for less than 2000 Euro. The BMS will do a very good job.
@andreasw5925
@andreasw5925 Ай бұрын
I can confirm this. I run 5 Jk inverter bms now, the 200A version with 2A balancing power. They have still some small issues (see the offgrid garage video about “has DC power”) but the overall price is great with eve 280k v3 and eel v4 case one box was less than 1500€ for 14.4 kWh each. Victron CAN is supported.

Congratulation with your very neat looking install. It's one of the cleanest I've seen. Love the idea of using the Schneider cabinet for the AC and DC distribution. One question: why are you having a Lynx distributor on the right side to the Lynx, but NOT using this to connect your batteries? (The batteries are now connected to the bus link, which could have also been connected to the Shunt)
@thecstechvideos
@thecstechvideos Ай бұрын
Thanks! Regarding Lynx on the right side, I plan ro upgrade the batteries and use multiple conductors for connect to system and I want to put fuses there.

Super system, well done, Im a bit jealous :-). Beautifully connected. How does the Fronius throttle down (delivering less power when the grid has a failure, no power from the grid) and your batteries are full (SOC 100%) ?? are you using zero feed in from Fronius ? to prevent overloading the batteries ?
@thecstechvideos
@thecstechvideos 6 күн бұрын
Fronius has country code set to MG50 (micro-grid) and Victron know that a Fronius is present and send limitation via frequency. Basically modulate frequency and this reduce or increase Fronius production.

@thecstechvideos

Sorry, but not understand the question. What is the max power that can be used in the night in off-grid mode? If that’s the question, is around 24 kW max!
@bengoevaerts
@bengoevaerts Ай бұрын
@@thecstechvideos I guess how much can you draw from the battery if there's no sun & no grid? If it's 24kW at 48V that would be 500A from the battery? Can the batteries handle that? Thanks!

Hi CS Tech, very nice installation! You did an excellent job. Also like the big Prisma Schneider electric distribution box. Question: Between the Multiplus and lynx distributor, it seems you didnt install a DC switch. Is it not necessery? With bigger systems, we are using ETI knife blade fuse and holder, but its expensive. What would you recommend? The normal red DC battery switch is only usable for 3 en 5kVA multiplus.
@thecstechvideos
@thecstechvideos Ай бұрын
Is necessary, but since i have 3 phase system I prefer to shut down all once and for that I have a Gigavac contractor already on general positive from battery that can disconnect the entire DC from whole system. More videos will come about this 😃

Very nice install you should look at a battery shelf with 3 or 4 15KW batteries. LFP cells 280AH are now only €80 each so you could build 60KW (64 cells) with x4 BMS for €6K and cycle between 20 - 80% DOD for 25 yr battery. CATL cells are the best >8,000 cycles

Befor update, last year I had a consumtion around 23 MWh :) three electric cars, heating for 350 SQM and all electric appliances…servers. Self sufficient from solar and batteries was around 59%. I hope this year to increase whit this setup to 75-80% from green energy. You can check my setup live on cstech.ro/productie-sistem-fotovoltaic-cstech-live

Nice setup. A Part of the Solar and battery DIY Community is about to replace the mega fuses since there was a fire in the US where, the insurance claims, the arc of a blown fuse caused the fire. Do you think it’s worth to take a look at this topic or are you ok with mega fuses and trust them?
@thecstechvideos
@thecstechvideos Ай бұрын
I don't believe the fire start because of mega-fuse. Is around 40-60V there and the arc can't be so big to melt and set fire to the fuse. Probably there was an imperfect contact or a screw loose or not was tight at the correct torque. Or maybe an undersized conductor...who knows, we need to see to believe :)
@andreasw5925
@andreasw5925 Ай бұрын
@@thecstechvideos I also don’t believe it. That might be just a reason so the insurance has something. But if you have a huge system the current can get quite high in case of a short and the official specs of the fuse could be not sufficient.
@TushhsuT
@TushhsuT Ай бұрын
@@thecstechvideos The problem is not the voltage, but the current. The internal resistance of cells is really small and it allows them to keep huge short circuit current -hundreds of amperes. The voltage is small and not enough to start an arc - right. But you think about it in open state. The real situation is different - the circuit works, then suddenly a short circuit happens. The fuse melts. And during this melting the gap is not instantly appears - it starts small and then increases (all in milliseconds timescale). And extremely hot gas from this melted fuse decreases the voltage needed to start an arc, and it starts! And once started, having hundreds of amperes in flow as plasma, it can cover gaps of centimeters(inches also). All welding works like this - bring electrode in or almost in contact, start arc, increase the gap. That is really serious thing and "I don't believe in it" is not a safe enough safety measure :)

Hi, I'm about to build a similar but single-phase system with Victron and Fronius. First, I also activated the Fronius microgrid, but I would like it not to absorb even 1 W from the network, as you did, in particular the coupling is at the input to the victron or in ac out of the victron?
@thecstechvideos
@thecstechvideos 16 күн бұрын
In this setup, Fronius is on Victron OUTPUT and on victron input, on grid connection point I install a Victron meter so I can limit everything.
@CosimoBisello

@@thecstechvideos so is fronius in parallel to the home load? If they were to cut off the power, what protection would there be? To function, my Fronius is automatically connected to the network via Italian CEI 021 regulation. What do you recommend, can I still connect it to AC OUT Victron?
