45699 Roars the Great Britain IX up Lindal Bank and Beattock 29/4/16.

LMS 45699 Galatea was in charge of day four of the Railway Touring company railtour " The Great Britain IX " starting from Grange over Sands to Edinburgh via the Cumbrian Coast and Beattock . We see 45699 Galatea charging up Lindal bank working hard towards the summit with Gordon Hodgson in the drivers seat . We then move onto Drigg as 45699 charges through the station and after a water stop at Sellafield Galatea is seen on the approach to Nethertown . 45699 is seen again shortly before a stop at Lockerbie before she is seen charging up Beattock at Harthope with the can on the rear helping out . The final shot sees her shortly after leaving Beattock loop on a snow storm .Sorry the opening title has 45690 on it as obviously it's 45699 .47760 was on the rear .

+Robert Masterman Thanks Bob , I didn't actually realise it was Gordon until I spotted him in the cab at Nethertown . The forecast was awful for the day but actually better than I could have hoped for !

Great footage Steve and with Galatea in fine form in your clips, she really was roaring along in complete command with great driving too! The clips on Beattock were particularly impressive even with the 57 on the back. You did well to get into all those positions in a day, as most, if not all of them, are "out in the sticks" so to speak. It's a delight to watch and watch, thanks! Best wishes from Ken

Marvellous! Last time I saw Galatea was as a rusting hulk at Barry. Never thought I would see sights like this from her ever again! Could she have made it up Beatttock without the 57 shoving ? Probably making sure that no Pendolinos were held up!

Sounding excellent there, that's a great spot at Beattock isn't it. It seemed to lose the headboard at Carlisle though; I hope it was just taken off and someone forgot to put it back on.
