Excavating for a electric line that is for our neighbors new swimming pool, I used the RK 24 Subcompact Tractor and 6.5' Backhoe and it worked very well. We had several lines to work around at first and we had to take our time at first.

I bought a Dewalt 20V grease gun and a lock and lube and never regretted it a bit. One of the best $250 ever spent. My tractor has 52 grease fittings and I grease them every 10 hours. Electric grease gun is the only way to go. Good to see you Hunter.

Hey Mike, glad that your weather has finally got back to normal. Here in central Kentucky we have been through too much rain as well. I could also use a month of the type of weather that you have today. . Also your RK24 and the RK37 would be great to have for that same amount of time! ! Man I could have lots of fun with those. . I mean I could get lots of WORK, WORK DONE!! :)

Hi Mike & Melissa... The small tractor & backhoe looked perfectly suited for the job at hand here. Both you & the homeowner were very careful working above the existing conduit. It appears no lines were set, eyeballed it all the way, looked good. The neighbor should be very happy with this work... The concrete work looked good too & the pool shed should be up in no time by the looks of things. Bill on the Hill... :~)

I think the key to having a hoe on a tractor is when the tractor was built it was meant to have a hoe on it. What I mean is if the tractors hydraulics are capable of running the hoe and the hoe is mounted to a sub frame then I've found them to be pretty capable. But if Joe Smith decides to put a hoe on his tractor via 3 pth hookup and has to run an auxiliary pump off the PTO then they are generally slow and under powered. That being said slow and under powered generally still beats a shovel and not much beats an excavator for digging.

I bought an L35 to remove tree stumps from my 1 ac lot after i cut the trees down. I do see that an excavator is a higher productivity tool but more expensive. Of course my L35 i paid a premium for as it had only 540 hours and seemed in good shape but as soon as i got it home hoses started failing. It wad onsey twosy but escalated rapidly from loader to backhoe. Took me a while to try to tackle the hoses that ran through the backhoe boom as the 1st cylinder on the L35 is internal - looks like a bear but the factory manual only calls for 40m to remove. Turned out pretty easy and am now down to one stump (that i can c) remaining. You are good inspiration to work evenings on the property!

I really like my DeWalt 20V MAX Lithium Ion Grease Gun. It works really well and I like being able to swap batteries if I would want to with all of my other 20V DeWalt tools. I've only used a few tubes of grease but I love how easy it is to use and it lasts for a very long time on a charge. I have the Lock-n-lube on it.

Good morning Mike. Being invested in the DeWalt battery system (12-14 batteries, 15 tools or lights and inverter/charger), I have the DeWalt grease gun with lock n lube. Not like you, I have only one mower and one tractor and one trailer, but that gun is the cat's meow. Thanks for your great videos.

I like the Milwaukee GG, you can select on the dial how many 'pushes' of grease you get when holding down the trigger. If you know your machine, you put it on 2 for most zirks, I put it on 10 or 20 for some of the larger ones. Hold down the trigger, no need to count. But it's a different battery system from the one you currently have, so that is a consideration. I have everything Metabo and Metabo does not have a grease gun so that is why I went with the Milwaukee GG

Reminds me when those students got stuck in a cave a few years ago . Was watching you starting to grease and I was thinking he'd better have the lube & lock on that gun . I ordered one of those the first time I saw your channel . With all of the things that you have to grease I thought you would have a battery powered grease gun already . Yea Hunter . Nice work Mike, Cliff might use a sharpshooter shovel when feeling for what’s buried instead of the round point shovel, easier to penetrate so you have a better chance of feeling the conduit before damaging...just a suggestion! Cliff sure has a beautiful property, that area you cleared looks so different. Nice Work to both of you.

I have commented before about my sub-compact 25hp "green tractor" which is basically the equivalent of the RK24. The backhoe has been a very handy and useful tool for me. In fact, I would say that I use it more than the 3 point tools that I have for that tractor. I have learned that it has limitations, but for my needs it works just fine.

I have the Dewalt 20V with lock n lub. Works great... no problems. I got the Dewalt because the higher max pressure. That came in handy recently because my brother had a plugged zirc that took a couple tries to open up and get grease flowing. It maxed out the pressure, but eventually started flowing. Your current 20V batteries would work on the Dewalt grease gun, and you could buy the tool only version (no batteries) to save a fair amount of money.

Just as well Mellisa didn't marry me, I didn't notice she was gone. Anyhow nice job with Sherman, great little tractor and my logic say's if you have a cordless system just stick with that system, I'm a DeWalt guy myself but that is just personal preference, there are plenty of good tool manufacturers out there.
