Driveway Corner Grading Project - PART 2. It's not a toy. It's a sub compact tractor. The Kubota BX23S shows off with the BT603 Back Hoe today digging out my two stumps. The Workmaster Plate, made by JU FabWorks, comes in handy again on my Kubota LX2610 tractor.

They do indeed pack a punch GP. My coworker retired in 2016. Before retirement , he bought a kubota 23S, with a backhoe. He volunteered to put a septic tank in for me. And, I'm here to tell you he gotter done in 10 hours. I bought a concrete tank 5'x10'x5' deep. His little tractor didn't have any problems at all. Definitely little giants at work.

Small tractors are reliable workhorses if used within their limit, taking your time and not overstressing the equipment. Demonstration of the correct procedure isn't needed, you just did it ^^ Glad to see Ralph depress that frontloader, not too many know about that trick. With frontloader elevated all the way, it puts weight on the rear wheels, and vice versa.

This video does prove the point that a smaller and less expensive compact tractor can still do a great deal of work. Just needs more time to get the job done. Sometimes people buy more tractor than they really need for smaller acreage.

Hi Gord, we put a cage around where our snappers lay their eggs to try to protect them from the raccoons and skunks. Square frame made with 2x4 and chicken wire over top, with small holes cut out for any baby turtles that hatch to get out.

It was so satisfying to watch Ralph get those stumps and large rocks out. I admire your dedication to the turtles who laid eggs in your gravel pile. Every spring I have snappers lay eggs on the soft areas on the edges of my driveway. This year was no exception. Right after I got the driveway box bladed the turtles came. Since then we have had a couple big rain events. Now I, like you, can't disturb the ruts along the edges! Great vides, GP. Cheers!

great video GP! I'm on 5 wooded acres west of Calgary and have the BX23S. Saves my back when planting trees, digging out stumps, moving material. It's a beauty, my new 'vehicle' for retirement, and my daughter is still sad to lose her parking spot in the garage. Aha. It took me 30 years, but an incredible machine for 28K Can. Now collecting a number of implements that fit it (flail mower does not work). Decided on the snow push instead of the snow thrower, and the rough cut instead of the belly mower, (rough cut still has not come in after 12 months, supply chain issues!) And the Wallenstein chipper that runs off the PTO. Your videos help me make implement decisions, which ones are best for my situation. And the safety you demonstrate is commendable. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos and sharing them.

I have a kioti cs2510 sub compact with a backhoe. It can do the job. The biggest draw back is having to get off an on to move the tractor around. I have a cheaper excavator now. It is a 1ton unit. It has more power and better at clean up. The tractor has a front grappler so that's what I use to move everything. Each machine has its uses.

@@GPOutdoors It was more like saving the sewer main! I was adding a 2nd floor to my house and the stump had to go. My original plan was to haul it out with my truck. I added weight to the bed and began hauling it when I noticed the walkway lifting!. The roots had wrapped around the sewer main and that's why I enacted plan B. A shovel and a sawzall!

Don't be surprised if you don't see anything hatch from those turtle's eggs. Turtles will do test runs before they lay their main batch of "real" eggs. We're bit south and west of your place and turtles will trek in from the swamp and lay eggs in our driveway. I've never seen a result from that.

From Australia - We have the 4 in 1 FEL over here I think as the only option which I find pretty useless as it's tiny and doesn't lift heavy or high however after digging out about 30 decent sized stumps I can say that the backhoe is quite capable all be it a little slow.

I have been pulling and clearing stumps for many years . I am sure you heard the saying work smarter not harder . So for the next time you need to pull a stump there is a cheaper way . Note if the stump it does not work the same but I will offer you both . A year old or 2 stump drill a hole in the stump as many as you like split it a little nothing big just play around good not pour gas in the holes of the stump let it set 30 minutes or so . About 7 Pm add a little more gas then at 8 Pm light it and have a good night . The stump will but down below the ground and burn the roots as well killing it so it will not grow another tree there. Fresh cut stump . You said you're self no one there likes to burn pine you can't give it away. Use that pine to have a camp fire . Make the campfire around the stump you want gone. The heat from the hot pine burning will dry out the stump and will soon burn then again have a nice night it will burn the same way . Depending on the size of the stump depends on how much gas you will use but I promise you that it will be a lot less gas then running the tractor plus you will be able to sit out by the fire no matter what the season is or the weather is and enjoy the night . I have done this for a long time many years some stumps took 7 days to burn but you never have to worry about it ever getting out of control .

Great video as always! I was going to comment on the video where you tried to remove those stumps with your grapple, that I thought you gave up on it too early. I removed a larger stump (white pine) with the bucket on my tractor by coming further away from the stump, finding the roots, and then breaking them where they were smaller. Of course I was able to go around the whole stump also. But having watched this video and seeing the large rocks that were involved, I completely agree with you that the backhoe was the way to go! 😁

@GPOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Good day John! Not for stumps but I have for bringing down a tree that was leaning and close to the cabin. Works great - certainly increases your pulling power dramatically but two things I found - 1) these smaller tractors such as my LX2610, don't weigh alot, even with 500 lbs on the back for ballast so I found the tires would eventually loose traction in the gravel, and 2) lots of time to get out several snatch blocks, lines, cables etc, setup etc and a bit of time to cleanup and put away afterwards. Certainly better than not having anything, but alot of effort and time. But effective for sure. Cheers John!

That was THE dumbest reason for removing a stump, lol. With that theory, you will have to remove ALL the trees 2 feet off the sides of the driveways, and, or, send everyone to driving school, lolol. Oh well, your property, GET 'ER DONE!!

LOL! I have to respectfully disagree, but love that you offered your own opinion. Always welcome on this channel good sir. But hands down, I don't do this kind of work for no reason. We can agree to disagree. ( i hate cliches but...) Thanks for tuning in and leaving the comment. Be well. Best of success and thanks for tuning in! Happy Holidays to you and your family. :))
