1) Camera guy - Valeriy Marcus, master sergeant of 47th brigade. Legendary guy - Airborne 2011-2016, wounded, discharged, 2022 - active duty again. 2) Patch switch - guy got his "non-combat" patch changed to "combat" patch. Meaning, he's now not a rookie, but a full-fledged soldier of the unit, since he is in the first fight. 47th has different patches for different positions, and different traditions to earn some of them. Thats one of them. 3) Hospitaliers - volunteer medical unit, that provides combat medic teams to support other units.

The commander is brilliant. Explaining the plan of attack clearly, calmly. Telling the troops what he expects and praising them, thanking them . Telling them he is with them. Encourage them. Also stating their options. That video will be a teaching tool in military academies showing how to motivate tired troops , getting them to push forward. It’s because Ukraine has men like this that Ukraine will ultimately win this war. Slava Ukraine.

Out of curiosity, is the + sign still called "plus" as well in Ukrainian? Is the "plus" used as seen in the video a regular, ancient part of the Ukrainian language that has got nothing to do with the mathematical symbol, or is it perhaps derived from the mathematic symbol? Since plus is positive (and minus negative), I could even see it being used as confirmation in slang, exactly like you can use "Positive" instead of "Yes" and "Negative" instead of "No", when answering a simple question.

so for u to know, Valery Serhiyovych Markus is the master sergeant of the 47th separate mechanized brigade "Magura", a participant in the Russian-Ukrainian war, a writer and traveler. Valery is a paratrooper and has been fighting since 2014. He is behind the origins of the creation of this new brigade and its traditions. The brigade symbol comes from the concept of a chess horse that acts out of the box, stepping over other pieces. A circle with spikes symbolizes a shield. "Plus" just means "gotcha".

In US army his rank would be "Command Sergeant Major", and his role is the Brigade Command Sergeant Major. It's not the same as "Master Sergeant" in the US army. "Master Sergeant" is just a specific enlisted pay grade in the US Army (E-8), which is also interchangeable with "First Sergeant" when he's the leading sergeant of a company, pay is the same. The pay grade of Sergeant Major (E-9) or the Command Sergeant Major is above that. Again, the difference between a Sergeant Major and a Command Sergeant Major in US Army is the current position he/she occupies: pay is the same.
@AlekseyVitebskiy
@AlekseyVitebskiy 10 ай бұрын
@bohdankoval3300 in US Army lingo calling him a Master Sergeant is lowering him by 1 rank in pay, and maybe 2 "ranks" in responsibility. His equivalent is the Command Sergeant Major. Specifically the Brigade Command Sergeant Major. See my other reply for further explanation

One more tidbit for non-US service members. You would call a Master Sergeant "Sergeant" in the US Army, but "Master Sergeant" in the Marine Corps. Command Sergeant Major or Sergeant Major are addressed as "Sergeant Major". Either way, you'd get you ass chewed out if you called any Sergeant "sir". Damnit, I work for a living.

My impression from that interaction was that Ukraine is still operating in the grey zone and not actually breaking through. Not that it is good or bad, just that Russia throw their "expendables" into the trenches surrounded by minefields and zeroed in artillery while more entrenched positions are holding on. Its classic "defence in depth" which is why Ukraine is getting bugged down jumping trenches while dodging mines and artillery.

This is almost an hour long video of pure freedom and unity in action. My deepest respects go to these front-liners defending their home and their families. Never be so blinded by (appropriate)hate and anger that you cannot show civility and humanity to your non-combative enemy.-They likely rarely/never see those parts of humanity. This makes winning minds in the war feasible. This makes coups of private militaries within Russia feasible. If this video packed with bravery and honor, doesn't fill you with pride, reassess your scales of what is right and wrong. Broaden your perspectives and stand with the most basic of human values. People on the front lines are doing their best and they're doing great, but it is still exactly that - a propaganda to make other's feel better about the situation. Ukrainian people are getting sacrificed while the world gawkes at it and cheers it on. Ukraine should have been accepted into NATO a long time ago so that this could not hapen. But that wasn't the point, nor the goal. Now Ukraine is serving it's exact purpose fighting what doubles as a proxy war, which is what matters to the western powers - not the desperate struggle for it's independence/self-determination. It should not continue like this.

I can no longer watch reports on the front line or watch combat footage because it saddens me and angers me so much that men women and children die to such a evil nation. Any good people in Russia deserve to be elsewhere but most of the russian people are dogs that are not even life forms but scums. Today I watched a russian soldier beat a teenage girl senseless because she said glory to Ukraine. He kicked her head as she lay unconscious on the ground then dragged her with her hair. Worst part was that there were six people metres away who did absolutely nothing but just watched. I hope Putin and all of his minions who are proud of their crimes see hell on earth before they visit real hell. I'd pay to see Putin die a cartel style death.
