Today we took the RK 24 Subcompact Tractor (aka Sherman) back to neighbor Cliff's place to backfill the electric line we dug with the backhoe the day before. This little Tractor is a Tank!

Great ground work on Sherman, that tractor does get it's fair share of work and then some. I was watching your neighbor and you could tell that the two of you gave worked together and both knew what each other was doing. It's great to have a sidekick like that. Thanks for sharing. Always enjoy the videos!

Nice job Mike... The little tractor is a genuine workhorse! Rain started at 11:00 am today as I got out at 7:15 am & got all my fields mowed by 9:45 am... ( 2nd mowing this season ) Yesterday I installed a new 3 point trailer mover ( TSC ) which has a 2" receiver with a 2 5/16" ball at the top of the post. I slid a 2" Reese with a 2" ball into the receiver. I'm good to go now as my splitter tables will no longer hit my chained up rears when making turns... Bill... :~)

I always learn when I watch you operate your tractors. I have improved my skill using the loader/bucket on my sub-compact, and watching you has given me a few more tips. Thank you for that. It certainly translates to the larger tractors that I run on occasion. I think the most important thing that I have learned not only from you but also others... patience and take your time. I don't do any of my tractor work for a living, so I can take my time and I have found that when I go slower I get better results. A manager that I worked for at one time had a saying that is true in this case. "Slow is smooth and smooth is fast".

Mike, That RK24 I think it is...That's a tough little beast. I have a Kubota B-7300 HST with front end loaded, scrape blade, box blade, bush hog, grooming mower, and what I call a boom lift. That B-730 I nicknamed the "beast" is like that. That thang ( thing ) strong for its size. I know about how handy a compact or even a sub-compact tractor is, about like a pocket on a shirt. I for one enjoy the outdoors just about as much as you do. There's no place I'd rather be. Anyway, that is a super nice rig. I came across this video and wanted to share my thoughts or comment that these little tractors are stout. Mine is over 18 years old and shows but still going. Good to see you again. have a wonderful rest of the week. Michael from NW North Carolina

After a 40+ year in telecommunications, I have had the pleasure of working with two men like you describe. It is like we were clones or one mind a 4 arms. Luckily I worked with both of these guys a long time. Unfortunately, they are both gone from this world now. The amount of productivity that can be produced in this situation is like the saying the sum is greater than the parts. Also as you mention, you can work with folks like this and chit/chat, because there is no need to talk about the work at hand. Another great soundtrack.

I was impressed with how nice the RK 24 worked too. It’s nice that your neighbor knows how to help and isn’t afraid to touch the shovel and rake. Do all the loader controls on the tractors feel like they are good quality? On my older John Deere 955 it is kind of hard to lower the bucket with a heavy load if you are doing precise work.

Make sure one of those lines (or 4) are Ethernet! Data lines can run basically anything now a days from cameras to locks to communication systems for pool filtration and so much more. Anytime I'm digging and laying conduit if I'm not putting data in I leave atleast half the pipe open and run a few pull strings.

Hey Mike! Hope you're having a good day today. Great video of Sherman however for the first time I would like to complain just a little LOL. They sell many attachments for Sherman and I would like to see them used as some of us cannot afford the rk37 and would really like to know how a box blade, and some of the other actual working attachments do. I understand this may put you slightly behind as the bigger tractors do much more work but I would love to see Sherman doing some of that if you could make that possible I'm quite positive a lot of us out here would appreciate it! Thanks and as always great video and keep them coming

What I'm about to say is the reason why I watch... I would have worked that totally from the side like you were at first - proly leaving a hump for soil to settle eventually; but after watching you it made me realize you were doing it a better way in back filling from the length of the trench keeping the tractor's weight on the backfill compressing as you went along - no hump. Learn something new everyday...😉👍👍

Quick question for you: I have a 20-acre property (mostly wooded), and am looking for a tractor to process wood, navigate wooded trails, general maintenance/landscaping, and most importantly, maintaining a gravel driveway on a 35% grade (at the steepest point). So just wondering if the RK24 be the right size to dig a mile long trench to put in a water line from the meter to the house. And if anyone has any tips on over coming head pressure so i can stop losing water pressure would be grate also. Thanks for the great honest info with your channel.
