I just received my scooter yesterday and guess they have upgraded this model. Which I’m so happy they did. It comes with a more comfortable seat and it also comes with a better display that shows your speed, trip, light on/off,eco/ high and battery level.No more key to turn on and off. I weigh about 260 and this thing hauls butt 😂. Their are no hill where I live so I have no worries about climbing uphill. Great E-Scooter overall.

Thank you very much for your review of this e-scooter. I purchased the campus pro for my Mom as a way to get around town in short trips and sense of independence. She recently was in the hospital for having seizures but is thankfully doing much better now but can't drive anymore. So having this for her is a great option to help her feel like herself again. Just wondering your thoughts on a new rider/elderly person starting out with this scooter. Just want to make sure Mom is safe but give her freedom to get around. Monday is when the scooter is to get here. Appreciate your time and any feedback/suggestions you have. Thank you! Jess 😊
@ColinLeung
@ColinLeung 4 ай бұрын
Hello Jess, thanks for the message. I'm sorry to hear about your mom, and hope she gets well soon. The most challenging things about the scooter are balance, throttle control, and braking. Ideally your mom should have a good sense of balance, or may further injure herself if she falls off at speeds up to 20mph. Secondly, throttle control will determine how fast the scooter will go. She can change the pedal assist levels to limit the max speed, and can practice riding in a lower gear until she's comfortable as it's more forgiving. Lastly, braking will determine how smoothly the scooter will stop. Ideally she should be able to put one or two feet down at a stop, and putting the seat to the lowest position will help. She can practice all 3 of these in an empty parking lot before getting on the road. I hope this helps

A little wobble should not be an issue as long as the seat post, seat rail AND seat are secure. In addition to the seat post clamp being tight please double check the two bolts holding the seat to the seat rails to the seat post. You will need two adjustable wrenches to tighten them. @ColinLeung 9 ай бұрын
How cold is it outside, and how far are you riding? Lithium-ion batteries for electric bikes perform best between 60 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit (15.5-26.6 Celsius). Below 40° F (4.4° C), the battery performance begins to degrade significantly.

I just have the Go Trax Flex and this summer I'd get about 15, 16 miles, but I never ride it until the battery dies. The other day I rode it at 52F and got to 14 miles and it died, but luckily I made it to the parking lot. Plus, my tires were abit low so that didn't help. Filled up tires & rode the next day, same temp. & got 14, but I stopped in the lot before it died so it probably could have done 15. So I'd say anything under 55F you'll may lose a mile or 2 and power is just a tad sluggish.

The one thing I wanted to know isn't covered lol. TLDR: I got a Gotrax F2 Pro, which advertises 15 mph and 7 mile range. In reality it only reached 15 mph going down at least 10 percent grade. It averaged 11mph, when battery was above 1/2, 7mph when battery was below 1/2. From a fully charged battery traveling on fairly level ground it only went 1.3 miles before being completely dead unable to move any more. I have seen dozens of video review for various electric scooters and literally not a single one has done a range test to see what range you actually get out of the scooter compared to its advertised distance. I considered getting one similar to this one on Amazon, but many require up to a $100 non refundable delivery fee. There is no possibility I will ever pay such a fee when lying about speed and range seems to be an industry standard for these devices. Now if one advertised 25 mile range, but you only really get 20, that would be fine, if I knew that before purchasing. But getting 6 times less range than advertised is simply unacceptable.
@ColinLeung
@ColinLeung Ай бұрын
Sorry to hear about your scooter range. I've noticed most ebikes and escooters get half of the advertised range with normal riding. I'd also look for scooters with free shipping on Amazon or the manufacture websites, and look at their return policy. Most allow free returns within 15 or 30 days if it doesn't meet your expectations, or is defective.

@@ColinLeung I'm reconsidering the whole thing. I started looking into safety reports. It turns out that because of the almost complete lack of any safety mechanism, combined with the extreme speed most are capable of, that they have an atrocious safety record. Its hard to nail down perfectly but on a scale of the top 100 safest forms of transportation, airplanes are number 1. Cars are 10, and electric scooters and bikes are somewhere between 70 and 90. Cars kill a lot of people every year. 46,000 last year alone in the USA. Electric scooters only killed about 250. Still when considering that there are 10's of millions of cars traveling many miles a day, the cars still overwhelmingly win in safety. I still think they might have some acceptable niche uses like traversing tourist areas where driving a car is impracticable or even impossible. However even then I would only consider a bike version and would not drive near other pedestrians. Shockingly about 20% of those seriously injured by electric scooters are not even those who choose to ride them, but other pedestrians who they collide with. This is also much higher than the less than 1% of automobiles which hit pedestrians. Sadly I think we need some laws imposed on their use restricting them from spaces where foot traffic is also common. I never realized how dangerous they were until now.
@ColinLeung
@ColinLeung Ай бұрын
@@K162KingPin Thanks for sharing your findings. I don't know if the danger is from the electric scooters themselves, but rather the people riding them. I've ridden bicycles and motorcycles my entire life, and have a good sense of awareness, balance, and ride defensively. I cannot say the same of others. Several friends/family members have injured themselves because they could not control the power output from electric scooters/bikes. Electric scooters and bikes are readily available in metropolitan areas, and do not require background checks. You can download an app and go, so I'm not surprised by the number of injuries caused by them. It's been a few years since I obtained my drivers license, but I recall a CA law stating that any vehicle going over a specific speed (5mph?) must be ridden in the street and cannot be ridden on the sidewalk.
@K162KingPin
@K162KingPin Ай бұрын
@@ColinLeung You could make the same argument about guns. What is the danger, the gun, or the person holding it? The difference is people who can get guns KNOW they are dangerous. The kids riding scooters, even many adults riding them do not understand, act, or treat them like they are deadly machines if misused. They treat them like toys. The narrative might change drastically if people were only aware of how fast things can go wrong, and how seriously they can be injured or injure others.

I have the Gotax Flex and I'm 60, but I wouldn't use this at those low speeds for mobility issues. It's too wobbly for low speeds, imo. Better off getting a 3 wheeler or similar with good balance for slow speeds.

@pinkfreud62

I have the Gotrax Flex regular one and I ride 16 miles round trips on the bike trails; 8 up and 8 back. This one should go even abit further so a 10 mile trip is fine. I bought mine just a few weeks before this one came out or I would have bought this one. I just use the Speedometer app & it shows your milage and speed, plus even has a map that tracks your every move where you go.

Yes, as the other user mentioned 5 miles each way is below the maximum range. The max speed may be limiting if you need to ride along traffic.

I just bought the Flex Pro Campus scooter. My question is do you need a drivers licenses? Can the scooter go longer the distance then 25km? I'm trying not to get a car since it's expensive; that's why I bought a scooter to be able to get around the city of Calgary. I'm excited; cant wait till it arives in the mail!! 🥰

It depends on your local jurisdiction. Oftentimes even if it's required no one will enforce it. The range depends on how aggressively/soft you throttle, battery condition, temperature, weight, slope, etc.

Are you referring to the 2 bolts that hold the handlebar to the stem? I showed it here. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/npuRZrOdnJfXYYU.htmlsi=wF18JWeY5fWIZ4EU&t=127 It's possible that the metal threads on the stem have stripped, and they will continue to tighten. Does it look worn?

The more powerful scooters come with a bicycle seat and less powerful cheaper models come with a really nice moped style seat. Doesn't make sense. Also it looks like the less powerful models come with a spring style suspension but cost more. Also some scooters have the lights in better locations then others. Some have the head light located by the front wheel or located up on the handlebar which it makes more sense to me to have it up on the handlebar. I wish there was scooter company that can put all the right features into one package with a nice frame that makes sense when building a scooter the right way. I am sure a guy can modify stuff themselves but it's nice if the companies could figure out what makes sense when building them. Also some have

I don't know if it has a max rider height because the individual just sits on the scooter without pedaling like a typical bike. As long as your knees clear the stem and elbows the handlebar then it should work, but it might feel cramped.

Do you need a drivers license to drive this in Pennsylvania?
@ColinLeung
@ColinLeung Ай бұрын
Per this site it seems like you need a license. Rules of the Road Pennsylvania law is quite strict when it comes to electric scooters on public roads. The state considers them vehicles, meaning they are not exempt from titling and registration requirements as set forth by PennDOT and would be required to pass equipment standards and inspection requirements. However, most electric scooters don’t have the necessary equipment (like turn signals and mirrors) to meet these registration and inspection requirements. This effectively makes them illegal to ride on Pennsylvania roads. upperallenpolice.com/wp/information/electric-scooters-and-pennsylvania-law/

@@rmstark1966 The label said Z144-48V9.6AH LG. TT2023052500088. I could not find that battery online, but it does have a XT connector.
