Jerry Rice is a great example of why top speed (such as the 40 yard dash) is an overrated trait in American football. In theory, Prime should be able to go anywhere Jerry wants to go, considering his 40 yard dash is nearly half a second faster. But through skill, footwork, hip movements, football IQ, instinct, etc.- Rice can get a world class athlete to turn his hips the wrong direction and buy himself enough time to get his body over him. Amazing game! (Plus, Jerry wasn’t a slowpoke in pads anyway, he had good game speed)

The problem was the array of 49er weapons during that era versus the rest of the Falcon defense put even more pressure on the defensive side of this match up for Prime and benefited Rice because they could work the Falcon defense longer. Having said all that, I can't think of many other match ups more exciting in these positions. Moss versus Revis or Woodson or Bailey? Owens versus (same 3)?

Deion was the main reason we won a superbowl that year because Steve young couldn't beat the cowboys and deion was the difference maker in that Dallas vs 49er rival to get us over that hump. Whoever won out of those 2 was beating anyone in the AFC in the superbowl. Deion left to the cowboys and won 2 more superbowls with them I believe. I forgot but I know they won a superbowl with deion. Dallas cowboys head coach jimmy Johnson said he wasn't afraid of Steve young, but Joe Montana was the one who worried him because he was the goat back then. 4-0 in superbowls with no picks thrown. Only reason Brady is the goat is because he has 7 rings but he lost 3 superbowls, twice to the giants and once to the eagles.
