Good ol standing target stance. It's a really stable way of shooting long distances with precision when standing. Folks in comments idk what youre going on about lol

Thank you, this is very helpful, because I can't shoot accurately because my rifle is heavy which makes me less accurate because my hand is shaking of how heavy it is.

Beginner question. When I hold my left elbow against my side in standing posture and relax my muscles, the elbow tends the slip to the left and not remain in a position where the left hand is able to support the rifle. I have to tense the muscles in my left shoulder to keep the elbow in position, and this is not good for accuracy. How do I fix this?
@jwilsonhandmadeknives27602 жыл бұрын
I know it has been a year since you asked this question, so I hope that you will see this reply. SOME muscular tension is necessary. You need enough tension in the support arm to keep it in place. As you discovered on your own, if you relax completely the elbow will move and the position will fall apart. We want to eliminate as much tension as possible, but we can't completely relax. You need to be able to hold a piece of cloth under your arm without it falling to the ground. After some time, this amount of tension will become second nature and static. You won't have to consciously flex to hold that much tension, it will become natural and repeatable.

There is a stark difference between target shooting for score, and shooting for combat. This is how this shooting discipline is done for this purpose.

This standing position is only for girls or for all boys and girls?? Reply sir

Obviously for both
@jwilsonhandmadeknives27602 жыл бұрын
for both. some males will find it difficult to get the elbow all the way to the ribs if they have wide shoulders or muscular upper body. In that case, the triceps will rest against the ribs in a more vertical stance. Girls and very thin boys can use the extended hip. Larger males will not get much benefit from that, and the alternative is a good arm to rib placement. The key to either is to let the shoulders drop. (relax the trapezius muscles)

Ehhh, 5.56 is pretty much the same. .308 and .30-06... you could maybe run into problems, but you have so much skeletal support, and a very forward center of gravity. Because the CG is so forward, it actually takes quite a lot of recoil to push you over. Try it yourself, you have to get hit so hard that your back leg is a lever, and your hips tip past your back leg. Most of the recoil is dissipated by the hips and spine bending too. Iirc, I've shot my M1 Garand in this position without issue.

This position is fine for precision based .22 rifle shooting from the standing position, due to the stabiliy provided by bone support. www.issf-sports.org/iteam_data/public/issf/images/userimages/academy/body1.png However for any other purpose it would be inappropriate, such as firing at a moving target or where speed is priority.

Agreed, that's going to HURT and she's going to end up on her ass the first time she shoots anything larger than a .22lr. That buttpad isn't even halfway on her shoulder and there's no room for recoil management.
@ihaveastoma3869 Жыл бұрын
@@AM-hf9kk there is a photo from the Finnish-Soviet war of a finnish sniper firing a 7.62x54R mosin sniper from this very same shooting stance. it is not designed for recoil management, there are other shooting stances for that. it is not designed for follow up shots, there are other positions suited for that. not position is an end all be all, positions are all tools in the arsenal of a shooter and just like tools, use the right one for the job

@CrustyFlamingo This is a target shooting stance particularly for airgun (and it is indeed the proper stance), it's not tactical or 3 gun shooting where you'd be using the isosceles or other stances, moving, or managing recoil etc. This is to be as steady as possible while unsupported.
