I have this same setup and that antenna. I installed it myself (there are some delicate little connections in there!). I made a further modification. I filed off about 1/2 of the bottom most tooth on that pivot on the antenna bracket so your can essentially lay the antenna parallel to the remote. This allows the attached antenna+remote to fit in the outer pocket of the fly more combo bag.

for non-us people, test #1 patch 12000feet is 3.6576km test #2 non-patch at a useable range of 5000feet is1.524 km and 8000feet is2.4384km when the video cuts in and out.

Fantastic review Dustin really enjoyed the whole coverage. Made me realise how current Drone manufactures could maybe easily improve their products by fitting better quality stock antennas on their controllers. Great video Dustin , makes me want a more advanced drone . I bought one of the H501s and I really like it . I've installed better antenna' s on the controller but I seen a video on how to upgrade the drone and it looked like some work , I might do it soon . Still trying to get my nerve up .. Anyway. Man talk about living on the edge. Whew... I wish you could do some flights in a more urban area, not so much for distance but to see how it reacts around 400-600yrd. I'm looking at getting maybe a refurb Air or refurb Pro Platinum. I don't see myself flying past VLOS but may would want to try it at least once out at the farm with no population around plus knowing you can do it plus the battery leans me torward the Pro. But I'd be mostly just toying around the neighborhood and maybe the park. I'm more worried about the inference from home/business wifi causing breakups which is why I'm leaning more for the Pro over the Air but I like the Air's sensors, camera and built in flight modes. Putting these extenders on @ $120 pushes the refurb Air into or Pro pricing... So many decisions hahaha

Been waiting for a proper test of these for a while. I’m writing this before I watched properly and I bought the SR version a while ago. Hopefully the test shows that it wasn’t a waste of money!

Thanks Dustin, I am definitely going to get this Raptor SR antenna for my Mavic Mini. So far I did a test with a parabolic range extender and I did nearly 2200 meters. You can watch that test on my channel, you're most welcome.

I love your distance tests. Maybe you should reboot the Mavic 1 & 2 as well as the spark test for distance. Also I don't think you did a distance test on the Fimi A3. Great video.

That's the problem with the Mavic Air, the battery life sucks.

Man, that thing sucked thru the battery in less than 9 min. on sport mode. Good thing you had some wind at your back to make it home. As with all those 'Range extenders', the weak link is the battery. Maybe someone will come up with a higher capacity Li-ION battery for the Mavic Air, which would make better use of that Raptor SR. The performance of the OD sticks didn't seem much better than the OEM antennas. Oh well, gone are the days when you could build bigger power packs .. I think you did that with the XK X380 or XK X500 .. long ago .. can't remember. Thanks for the test. Cheers.

Great video! The further you go out .... the higher you should raise the drone. Try going up to 100/150 from 40. you will get better results.

the mavic air is a great drone, only the battery and time flight are very short just 21 min and real life is 15 min. thats why i like mavic pro 1.

I bought a Raptor sr for my mavic mini and max distance i could reach was 400m in the city. With the stock antenna and a 5$ signal reflector i could do 1500m in the same place. I returned this and 4hawks first said that wires were broken, then that I broke them and after sending pics of the cables before returning the unit (perfect shape) they came back again saying the antenna is actually working fine. Would not recommend this to anyone, 4hawks is a dishonest company selling stuff which does not work as advertised at all.

i wish they would make relay/repeater drones....the would just fly to a certain height and act as an antenna. that way you can fly in canyons and behind buildings without losing the feed

Aloha Dustin, I don't think they are worth the trouble and cost. If you remember you went almost 3 miles in stock, but barely made it back with 6° battery , I think the 8$ parabolic antenna is all a person needs. Mike in N.C

How does this mod affect the Spark range tho? Have you tried? Though the only problem with the spark is the battery life.

So as far as the battery percentage as to when you get a warning. Did you change it to 15%? Default is 30% ain't it?

I don't think if it worth. If you go more than 4000 meters on a windy day you won't have enough battery to come back. Probably it helps at 1080p livestreaming at longer ranges. Great video tough
