The University of San Carlos, which is also called USC or just "San Carlos" in everyday speech, is a private Catholic university in Cebu City, the oldest city in the Philippines. In 1595, it was called Colegio de San Ildefonso. In 1783, it changed its name to Colegio-Seminario de San Carlos. In 1948, it became a university.
USC has five campuses in different parts of Metro Cebu: the Downtown Campus (formerly the Main Campus), the Talamban Campus (TC), the North Campus (formerly the Boys High Campus), the South Campus (formerly the Girls High Campus), and the newest, the Montessori Academy along F. Sotto Drive (at the back of USC North Campus).
Talamban Campus has the University Stadium, which has a track and field oval and a football field that are good enough for competitions. There is a gym, courts for basketball, volleyball, tennis, and badminton, and a standard-sized swimming pool on the Downtown Campus.
