Today's trip is quite a rare occurrence. After a night of track work, Paolo is taking the engineering train fom Cinuos-chel-Brail to Poschiavo, including a change of direction in St Moritz. Thanks to the fact that the entire RhB network is electrified, diesel trains only operate for construction, track clearing or emergency purposes.
The first 15 minutes of the journey take place before dawn. The GoPro camera isn't good in low light situations, the powerful headlights of the Gmf 4/4 II locomotives however do a better job of lighting the way than the standard locomotives we've seen so far.
After our departure in St. Moritz, prepare yourself for the breathtaking views along the Bernina railway (Unesco heritage listed) in the midst of summer. On the 7% downward slopes, our speed is restricted to 20 Km/h to prevent the train brakes from getting too warm. This gives us a chance to really soak in the scenery.
The Bernina railway sets a few records, including being the highest railway alpine crossing in Europe (2253m), the highest adhesion railway of the continent, the open air railway with the greatest height difference (1824m) and furthermore one of the steepest adhesion railways (conventional railway without cogs) worldwide, with gradients of up to 7%.

Today - August 1 in Russia they celebrate the day of the railway worker. Judging by your videos, you are connected with the railroad. I congratulate you on this day on the professional day of the railway worker. A poem dedicated to a railway worker, I have translated from Russian into English for you. Pull train - three hundred wagons, You, brother, on the shoulder! I congratulate the driver For you in life - a pond of happiness! Let all the railways A semaphore will be opened for you, Sadness and anxiety will go away The fun will go out into the open!

Great tunnel construction! and, For the first time in Switzerland, I learned that buildings such as ceilings and sides that avoid snowfall on railroad tracks are called "galerie".

----- I used Google Translate for English comments ----- A dog crossing a railroad crossing calmly & Relaxedly at the highest altitude area on the Bernina line. Oops dangerous! If you look closely at the dog at the moment you think, there is no collar! Is it a mountain guardian because of its appearance that does not seem to be a stray dog? I felt a mysterious encounte
