At approximately 1:30 pm on April 23rd, 2018, Toronto Police, Fire & EMS were dispatched to a large stretch of Yonge St in North York, Toronto for a mass casualty incident. A rental van had struck several pedestrians in what seems to be an unprecedented attack. A major response ensued from multiple police and EMS agencies. Unfortunately 10 people passed away from this attack, leaving many more injured in hospital.
This is the final all-in-one compilation I made of all response videos I gathered while on the ground during the North York Terror Attack. It consists of: Toronto Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police, Toronto Paramedics as well as high ranking detectives and chiefs in special vehicles. Toronto's first responders (police, fire, & ems) were fearless as they worked throughout the afternoon, and I would like to thank all first responders for their efforts on this tragic day.

This was a scary day as this is a super safe area and no one saw it coming. Extra weird was being on Manitoulin this summer and having 10+ police cars including unmarked blaze past us. Turns out a guy in Gore Bay had a hostage incident...we had just come from there. I was also earlier this year at a McDs in Oak Ridges where a guy who got stabbed stumbled in. I’d had a rough day (albeit less rough than he) & shrugged it off with my back turned as “high school kids”. Got the surprise of my life when I turned around to a crime scene, and a McDs taped off and surrounded by emergency vehicles. Talk about zoned out! Oh, and a major townhouse fire in my area that got trucks in from surrounding regions. That’s been my 2020...on top of Covid. Maybe I should start filming these too?

Pity the official livery of the ambulance and police looks like a laundry delivery service. The truck at 3:38 shows how a high viz, high conspicuity, non-confusing livery should be. One single unified bright color over the entire vehicle. EVs are not show ponys, they have a job to do and a duty to the public to be highly visible in all conditions.

It’s called an emergency run. Meaning that when EMS has a urgent patient that needs to be transported (usually trauma patients from shootings, car accidents, etc). The police will follow helping EMS by temporary blocking intersections and following into the hospital to provide security and crowd control and well as protection for the EMS crew and the patient.

They wanted to get all victims to the hospital as quickly as possible. They also at the time still didn't know the scope of the attack and they where also providing security for the ambulance and patients. I recall the hospitals that where receiving the patients where also put into lock-downs with large police presence.

There aren’t any hospitals right near there and it’s a high traffic area: serious injuries would be sent downtown to specialty hospitals.
