Im having this exact problem! I have been chasing the code p0758 shift solenoid B fault. Ive dropped the pan three times now on my l460e. Ive suspected various parts but non the less. Tried them all. What started as a fluid and filter, at 238k started a nightmare from hell. I'll be doing this first thing tmrw! Scottie!! Keep up the great advice and content! Did this fix your transmission? I have same problem after fluid change. There was no problem before, but I had to change the cooling lines, and the fluid was nasty.

So I just recently ran into this problem with my sons LS swap camaro, everything he explains in this video we have done and still no first gear. It turns out it was wrong or bad o2 sensors. I guess the trans grounds thru them. Put new ones in and works like a dream. Just wanted to share our experience with everyone

Thanks for the tip. Never heard that one before. I'm going to have to take a look at the schematic on these components. I don't ever recall seeing the coralation in the past but maybe I missed something. This also goes to show... this trans almost never has an exact common repair for a common problem for the trans. If you can, update us in a couple weeks as to how it goes. I always say, start saving for a new trans if you have over 120k miles and you are getting drivability issues.

I got a P0141 for 02 sensor bank 1 sensor 2 and also p0756 solenoid b stuck super randomly. Drove great then one day it didnt..Severe misfire and will barely drive flashing engine light... hoping it's that 02 sensor

I bought a 4L80E off of ebay rebuilt. Same problem! Already changed the 2-3 B solenoid will have to try your fix.

Honestly, that trans i bought online ended up having a bad 3rd gear check ball in the case. Ruined 3rd and 4th. The material was clogging my shift valves causing my 1st and 2nd gear issues. It was a complete waste! Good luck getting yours going. Keep us posted on what ya find.

Yup agreed.... This is the first video (after watching probably 20+) that talks about cleaning the valve area. This was my line of thinking from the beginning especially since I added transmission cleaner and then instantly the transmission didn't function properly... how would a solenoid fail immediately after putting that stuff in....

The screen on the solenoid can get clogged with the same junk that can cause a shift valve to get stuck.

I just bought a 97 Z28 and thought the shift solenoid was bad but it ended up finding out that the guys that had the car before me put a new transmission in and did plug it in to the pcm😂

@@GustavoLopez-dz4zf yeah bro it definitely sucks. I had the issue after getting the trans rebuilt after burning the 3-4 gears. The shop didn't clean the valves when they did the rebuild and there was still old gunk sticking the valve. When I blew it out it was bad but after that it was fine.

Scotties Hobbies i was able to get mine running, luckily the electrical connector came off a shift soleniod. I went ahead and pulled and tested it by applying 12 volts to it and listening for a click

I had that problem a while back and drove it like that for a while before I changed them out but mine just started acting up it acts like it's in neutral if you try to take off in OD or 3rd but it will take off in 1st or 2nd and when I'm up to speed I can switch to 3rd and then OD and its fine but it won't down shift if I apply enough throttle for a downshift I just had my valve body out because both solenoids seemed fine with a multimeter and hooking up 12v but I had one that I was pretty sure was good and replaced one of them and I thought I switched them so if I was putting in the bad one the symptoms would be different it was the same but now I am getting a code for shift solenoid b so I ordered 2 new ones and am going to double check the wiring too

I’m having this problem I replaced all the solenoids in my blazer but still moves slow in D but 2 works somewhat better at slow speed.

The wiring harness needed to be replaced for the transmission to the fuse panel. Ended up getting rid of it non mechanical related. Good truck. I Wouldn’t mind finding another one the same year.

KINDA LATE TO THE COMMENTS, BUT I LOST FIRST (IT WOULD ENGAGED, MOVED A FEW FEET AND ENGINE JUST REV LIKE IN NEUTRAL), I FOUND METAL SHAVING IN OIL. I GUESS MY PROBLEM IS MORE LIKE MECHANICAL THAN ELECTRIC. DID YOU HAVE METAL SHAVING AS WELL ?

Mine is slipping 2nd gear, im pissed because we fought that damn pan out and changed the Solenoids but i didn't check or clean the valves

I have a 1994 Camaro with that transmission, the selenoids are fine but I have the same problem of not having the first gear only 2 and 3 gear, the board does not mark me check engine Do you think the valve could be dirty?

Which one is solenoid A and which one is Solenoid B. Is there any difference in solenoid A and B? Do I purchase 2 of the same catalog number for A and B to be replaced? I have a 2015 5.3 Yukon with a transmission 4L60-E-RWD. Will you tell me what the catalog numbers are using AC Delco parts for these 2 solenoids. Thanks Chris

hi i have a 2006 Mitsubishi eclipse an I flushed the converter an the pan an put back factory fluid in it an went to drive it 5 miles well it kills on me in reverse an it kills in drive , it killed on me while I was driving an it took a while to start back up . it only throws me po741 an its a automatic . The new fluid color even changed within driving 5 miles to a real light brown . Any help with my issue or issues is greatly appreciated

+mitsu eclipsepo741 I wish I knew more about a broader range of Transmissions. I know a lot about the 4L 60e transmissions and the Ford aode Transmissions. If the fluid turn brown I would assume that it's getting burnt somewhere. Or you're washing some clutch plates. That car is a front-wheel drive too. the internals might be a little bit different. I honestly think I would be wasting your time right now to give you any type of recommendation to help you. I wish I knew more and give you a better answer that would actually help you.

No. We had one last week that was caused by a failed 2-3 accumulator failure. But make sure you check everything while your in there.

I'm going to be doing my 94 k1500. I'm doing maintenance on the transmission to try figure out jerk shift out of park to drive or park to reverse. I'm switching the a & b solenoids, 1-2 actuator, filter and fluid. I actually should change the pressure plate. I was wondering about cleaning the valve bodies on the a and b. Did you work out the valves with a small pick or just use compressor air? Thank in advance. All my other gears shift great. Maybe I have a tow package upgrade in my transmission. Not even sure. I'll find out when I drop the pan a guess.

I know this is an old comment but it sounds like you have an accumulator getting stuck or severely worn. The early ones could be plastic and they cracked a lot. The bores for the pin that they ride on also wear out.

@MegaDysart thanks for the response. Yeah. I haven't even done the change yet lol so many things I'm doing. I did a transmission rebuild on a 4l60e, engine swap I'm doing right now on my 98 lesabre and multitude of other vehicle maintenance. Probably do the pan drop this winter when things get slow

Also I believe the computer said it was A and B solenoid can't really remember at the present time.

+Charles Wilson I have heard of this problem being salt by replacing the 2-3 shift solenoid. I have also heard of people switching the valve body out to a manual valve body that is vacuum driven. It could be a number of things but those are my two most common fixes for the issue that you are having.

I have another video that explains what my fix was for my shifting issue. It was cleaning out the valve channels. Take a look at my other videos if you have time and see if you could find it I explained a little bit of what you should probably do if you're going to take those shift solenoids out. MY 1999 Tahoe is having same problem. 1st and 3rd are wonderful no 2nd or OD. I just ordered new shift solenoids and about to really research cleaning out the valve Body . Wish Charles would have said if doing what you said worked or not. Waiting for a cool day here in late August in Jacksonville, FL where you are pouring sweat 5 mins after walking out the front door let alone doing anything close to real work, lol...

Same tranny 03 Escalade. No codes, should I bother with solenoids? Already tried btsi fuse. Issue is, jerks kand won’t go to 2nd, can’t get out of first rpms red line. Do you do mobile mechanic work? Thanks for your solenoid video, so do you think I start with solenoids?

+Greenback Zo start by checking the solenoids. I believe you can check them with a 9v batterey. Also check the shift valves. I would also look at the 1-2 accumulator if its a factory trans. They break a lot.

So my 2005 chevy avalanche has started doing the slow to accelerate. I changed both a and b shift selenoid and it didn't fix it. My code reader thru out 3 codes and 5 pending codes. When you shift into drive it's feel like it drops to a different gear I'm thinking that it is going into limp mode. On the highway it runs at 100 km at 3000 rpms.

+mr roboto this is on a 01 tahoe. But 4l60e's are in a ton of vehicles from silverados, yukons, astro vans, some cars and smaller suvs. There are different gens of the 4l60e trannies too.

Do you think redline d4 atf is a good atf to use to replace the original dexron 3 and better than dex6 in a 2001 Silverado 4l60e? Going to change all my solenoids soon want to use a good synthetic atf do you think synthetic is best for these older 4l60es?

You are probably not going to like my reply to this one. I personally do not recommend using synthetic fluid in the 4L60 transmission.. Or any transmission or engine that has over 70000 miles on it and has not previously been using synthetic anthetic. Synthetic fluid Has smaller molecules so it finds leaks easier.. Or will leak by solenoids and/or seals easier than a conventional oil a conventional oil would. I personally only use the dex 3 made by Valvoline. I change the fluid every 30k ish and filter every 60k.

@@robpaul7900 have you thought about the accumulators? If you have been using synthetic and your happy with it. Stick with it. Don't switch back and forth either. As long as you consistently change the oil and filter routinely i don't think it will make that much of a difference.

@@ScottiesHobbies they sound like they are unique from alot of the other brands good quality synthetic the redline d4 is a little thicker dex3 merconV compatible so it sounds like it would be perfect seems like synthetic will clean up things also

I have a Chevy 2500 HD 2007 I had selenoid changes all of them and transmission. reset but nothing. it takes off first shift but kinda get stuck on 2nd before it kinda pulls before taking off what can it be

+SANDRA DIAZ does it get to 3rd gear? If so your torque converter would be suspect. If no 3 or 4 th gear, the 3-4 clutch packs are probably bad. Check the fluid level too.

nope no cracking sounds never had and issue until the 2nd gear would get stuck and jump change selenoids and well nothing unusual from there.

Dude tell every one to go to top 5 auto repair on shift solenoid, rather then chasing there tails like you and trying to figure out (y) its still not the problem...

Check the accumulators and shift valves. If you find debris or rubbish in your pan then plan on a rebuild. The band could be bad too.

Could a Check Engine Light (CEL) code: P0756 Shift Solenoid B Performance or stuck off for a '04 Honda Accord EX 2.4L 4-Dr Sedan Automatic (approximately 259,000 miles) just be a Solenoid issue or something else (Pressure switch, etc) if the car is not going into Reverse for up to 2 minutes & the same thing for Drive (Have to wait a few seconds up to 2 minutes) Drive light blinks, Check Engine Light is on & that is the only code displayed; P0756 Shift Solenoid B performance or Stuck Off (Other issues: Sometimes there's a quick grinding sound when the car is switching into gear usually after the car is stopped at a stop sign/light then moving again, RPMs rev up high but the speedometer stays low & takes a while to switch gears. After the CEL had been cleared the car drove fine in all gears, 65mph no problem, etc then when the CEL & blinking Drive light came back on it had the issues listed above). Other Notes: Honda dealership recently drained/filled with new transmission fluid approximately 3 weeks later while up in the mountains I had a loose negative battery connection; dashboard lights flickered, RPMs reved high with harder shifting, after I realized it was a loose negative battery connection I used a SHIM to fill the gap>Battery connection issue fixed but then I started experiencing transmission issues; Just delayed shifting (High RPMs before kicking into gear) took the shim off which obviously involved disconnecting the negative battery cable then lone behold the car was shifting fine. Had to put the shim back in (loose connection) then the same transmission problems started to occur again & became progressively worse as mentioned above. Later after the car finally kicked into Drive it was taken to a transmission shop & they said they were barely able to get it into their bay by pushing it (While in Neutrel) They said it needed to be driveable to run their scan tool to pull codes/test the transmission & their final result is they said it needs a rebuilt transmission ($4500+) no code scans, test drive, they believe it couldn't just be the solenoid, etc. Since it delays so long and or doesn't go into Reverse gear or drive (Not sure how long they actually waited to give the car a chance to go into those gears). If the transmission is actually no good I will take it to a shop that takes the exsisting original transmission out & rebuilds that $2000-$2800 instead of this shop who only orders comptely rebuilt ones for $4500+ (They said they don't rebuild transmissions on foreign cars because they had too many issues & only rebuild original transmissions on American vehicles). Just wanted some feedback, opinions if they still could've scanned the vehicle properly since it starts & even if it can't kick into gear to test drive it and also based on this info if it still could be a Solenoid fix etc (Lengthy info in case this is helpful to determine the issue better & in case this is beneficial to anyone else experiencing similar issues).

Did you have lost of forth gear as well I have a 2000 gmc sierra 1500 4.3l v6 4l60e A/T and I do not have 1st or 4th

If I was chasing a no 1st or 4th issue I would start by checking my shift solenoids and then checking the wiring harness. If not just replacing all of that.

I've got the same problem with my 95 k1500. No 1st or OD. Will be replacing solonoids soon. I believe that's the problem.

i have a 01 chevy it feels like 2nd gear is gone. i have to let up off th gas for it to change then it rides fine. do you have any ideas on what it may be.

Possibly a bad accumulator or restricted shift valve. How is reverse? And codes in the computer?
