Procedure is the same as not very similar to many models mainly from the 1996 to the 2002 era. Update ! 2003 Chevy Tahoe 4.8L 4wd 331K miles. Here what has happen, I went to drain the tranny fluid and the drain plug bolt head stripped so I drilled a small hole in the pan and drained the fluid, I purchased a used refurb pan then took down the pan I changed the both solenoids A-B 2-3 3-2 then buttoned the pan up fill with fluid and it works ! Shifts nicely and its fast ! Thank you !

Thanks for this informative video budd. Ive never done any transmission work in my life but after watching this video and great angle by the way... My 97 chevy is driving like a badd mamma jamma and the gears are shifting smoothly. If i didn't pound some beers while i was doing this... I'd take the fam out for a test drive but i guess tomorrow's drive will be thanks to you budd keep them videos coming..👍

I also have a 97 k1500.. what did you all do to fix your shifting issues? Mine shifts hard and does not shift into 4th gear anymore. I haven't done anything for transmission work either other than a filter replacement, trying to do all my research before I drop the pan again.

I did replaced the solenoids on my 98 blazer and after i assembled all together i started on but did not engaged either forward or reverse. I problably need to go back and check the solenoid pistons and continuity on wires. Thank you so much for this video.

Hey Scott, hope all is well for you and thank you in advance. I have just purchased a 2002 GMC ENVOY SLE, i was told the transmission was out . It had been sitting , at this point approximately 4-5 weeks. I arrived and started the engine and just for kicks pulled it in reverse and it took! I then pulled it 8n drive and it took. So i pulled it back into reverse and backed , up hill, out if the drive and proceeded ti go forward about 25 yrds , when i went to back up to turn around it would not take gear acted as if it was in neutral. So i psid the lady and loaded it on a roll back and brought it home to start researching . So the next day i went to fuse #47 in the rear block and sure enough the fuse was blown !!! - BUT-. i boosted it back off again ( battery is shot) and took off to town to try it out ans get some fuel. I got on it pretty good when i left and laid pretty good rubber and thoyght i had stole this envoy for no other than a fuse!!! NOPE.... LOL! made it about a mile and it started to be sluggish trying to shift and then juzt as if it was in neutral again ...not pulling at all. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I have a 2001 tahoe with a remanu trans installed about 5 years ago. Now when i accelerate from a stop, I get a slight slip going from 2nd to 3rd at about 28mph. If I accelerate slowly you almost don't feel it. Other than that it works perfectly. I baby it for the 2-3shift so can hopefully get many more miles out of it. I watch the tach and I can see it go up like 300-400 rpm then drop when 3rd kicks in. Do you think its a solenoid problem or something else?

I have a new problem. This video is excellent, hubby a mechanic, but really retired. My GMC Yukon XL Denali 2011 has had a slight problem for about 6 months, occasionally at a light, I press the accelerator and it jerks into gear as I take off. Then while driving home from a long trip a few days ago, at the start of the trip, driving 75-80 mph at times for the first hour. Stopped at rest stop, then when I got on the road the shifting wasn't working correctly. Sometimes when accelerating, the rpm's shot up but the car didn't seem to want to accelerate. We ended up driving home with the TOW button pushed and babied it going home. Hooked it up to a scan and it isn't giving any codes. We want to start with replacing both solenoids and checking the harness ends. But according to the friend mechanic that hooked it up, said it wasn't looking like it even has a solenoid in the transmission (like that particular transmission doesn't have one). He said all of this was confusing, not making any sense. So he will speak to some other guru's on it. Has anyone had something similar?

I need your opinion on this one because I’m not sure so whenever I got the car I was told the trans was “rebuilt” it goes all the way to 3rd gear an will not go to 4th I manually put it in 2nd an it’s fine does feel sluggish going threw gears but it will not go into 4th well at least this is what I’m thinking because the car starts raving alittle to high I think it’s perfect till I get at about 60 or 65 an then you start to realize it’s not shifting oh an also if you kick it down it doesn’t down shift from what I can remember I’m gonna go for another drive an test it again do you think this could potentially be my problem because the trans doesn’t feel bad whenever I manually put it in second it pulls great even 3rd pulls great just no 4th

I started my envoy today and put it in reverse and it just revved. I was shocked. Yesterday had no issues whatsoever in reverse. I’m hoping it’s simply the shift solenoid that controls reverse

Im So glad i came across ur video, Thanking God i did... I was just replacing my shift solenoids and well into the night when i finally made to them..lol had to remove my drop bar to even to the last three screws... anywho when i removed the first Solenoid it popped out And i didnt see anything else fall , well long story short i noticed the long grooved like pen u pulled out.. So now i know what to do with it.. thank u ..

Seeking your advice; 98 chevy c1500 4.3 4l60e. Sat for 5 years. Was a gift. Changed filter/fluid. Nothing major at the magnet. Just small dust. When cold trans shifts in all gears. Once slightly warmed, it shits the first hard(brutal). After that it doesn't shift. What's your opinion?

Was roasting tires like a goofball doing some weight transfer in the rain in my 2013 silverado. Went home went to bed woke up and now my 1-2 shift revs really high and finally drops in after it hangs at 4.5k. If I let off the throttle at 2.5k where it used to shift it shifts into 2nd no problem at all. Checked fluid And level was really low so put a few quarts in and that helped a little so now under light throttle at a stop sign it will shift basically fine again but anytime I put a little bit more than a little throttle it pulls the rpms up real high and holds them until it hard shifts

Thank you Scott for the informative video I have a 2003 Chevy Tahoe 4.8L 4wd 331K miles the codes are P0758 Shift Solenoid 2-3 I bought transmission filter kit with the A-B Solenoids and a 3-2 shift I figure Ill change it any way. Ill do this in a few days I feel very confidant to do this task while the Tranny is still mounted performing it upside down. I'm sure this is the problem and I will check the grounding and valves THANK YOU !!

This is the best video I've came across so far on this subject. My 03 just started acting up. It's stuck in second gear.i thought well it's gone. But when i hooked up my scan tool it said sylnoid b. So guess that's better than a busted tranny. I've never done this before but you explained it well enough I'm about to jump on it. I've swapped tranny's dozens of times but never a sylinoid. Hope that's all it is

@@roamsolo yes it worked pretty easy fix. You will have to loosen yourexzaust manifold bolts to get your pan off. You dont have to take them off. Just loosen so you can pull the exhaust down a few inches. Make sure you replace both A & B sencor. That way you make sure it's not going to fail. I got A.C delco off amazon for $35. And it fixed it. I changed the filter while i was in their as well. Shifts great now. Good luck.

Hey Scott,I have a 1995 Camaro v6 with the 4L60E all gears shift fine but when I take off from a stop it feel's like it is slipping and fluid level is fine,the main plug on the side of the trans.will not lock down in place,could that be the prob. and I did replace a line that was leaking and speed control censer. can it be bad solenoid/dirty?

I have a 97 Tahoe 4x4. Shifts fine from 1st to 2nd but rpms high and does not shift to 3rd. I didnt attempt to forcing it to shift. I havent hooked up a ODB scan tool as of yet. In need of some advice as where to start cause I'm stuck in Oklahoma.

When changing out these shift solenoids and the tcc solenoids, do you have to get them programmed at all or are they just plug and play? As long as im buying the genuine parts. And also, when installing the new solenoids should i dip them in new atf fluid before putting them back into their slots to try to get fluid back into those crevasis, and to also kinda lube the screens and o rings associated?

I have a 2003 Chevy trailblazer. This past Saturday morning I was driving and when at 45mph it was pulsing, later in the afternoon it was not going into 3rd until I let off the gas then slowly pressed on the gas pedal. Today, Monday morning it was fine until I got to operating temp then it would not catch 3rd at all. Does this sound like something a bad solenoid would do or a different issue?

I have a 98 4 wheel drive 1500 Suburban. It generally runs fine but will intermittently "clunk" or jump when going into 2nd gear. This will occur only after driving for some time but again, it's infrequent. Could this be caused by a faulty solenoid or maybe a bad harness? Thanks for your help.

I have code P0894b,shifting from 1st to 2nd gear is rough,i may have pinched the wire harness near the bell housing of the transmission,could it be a solenoid though?

Hi Scotty. I was coming home from work today driving my 03 HummerH2 & while going to down the road felt a hard jerk & transmission down shifted. I pulled over & put in park. Got out & looked under vehicle for fluid or anything outta the ordinary. All looked good. Started vehicle back up, put in reverse went into reverse fine, shifted to D nothing, then 3rd nothing, so I shifted to 1st moved just fine, 2nd just fine, but no 3rd or drive. Luckily I wasn't far from home so drove home in 2nd. Does that sound like the shift solenoids?

I have a question, I have a 1993 Chevy Silverado K1500 4l60e and when I start driving it it shifts totally fine though as soon as it gets to operating temperature it will go into limp mode speedometers to 0 and the 2 gear and high rpm, also replaced the speed sensor already, and I just removed pan tonight and lots of fine metal in the bottom what could be the problem, please help

your videos definitely helped me a lot. However I'm not great with electrical so heres where Im at. P0756 code. but was having very low power long before the code came. did everything you said. Solenoids test perfect and valves didnt seem to be gunked up. there was a small wear spot on them in the finish but suspect thats normal. My issue is with the wiring. have a cheap probe from harbor freight but it works. Only one of the harness wires for each of the 5 or 6, 2-wire connectors inside the trans will show ground with the key off. (I haven't tried it with the key on). it seems in one of your videos you said they both need to show ground. Does this mean my harness internal harness is bad?

I had a very weak shift solenoid when applying the 9v so I replaced it the sluggish acceleration went away tons of power but 3rd gear completely slips lost not sure what’s next.

Did I miss something? When did the rod come out on the second solenoid rod removal? When you put it back in does it go. Spring, Rod, Spacer, Solenoid, Solenoid Clip?

Good morning I have a 2007 tahoe 4.8 and won’t shift. But I don’t have problems selecting the gears. Move forward and reverse with no problems. Transmission feel strong but won’t shift. Change the fluid filter and solenoids will fix my problem?

1994 c1500 with 4L60e. Upshifts fine but doesn't down shift. I can down shift manually. No slipping in any gear. OBD1 system on truck and no check engine light on.

Hello I have 2 question with 2 problems lol... First I have a 92 Chevy blazer full size 4x4 and from one day to another it didn't want to shift gears I would have to put it on 2 so it could drive normal!! Second one is a 95 Tahoe it was running good till my drive shaft broke off now it rides stupid ruff like if I have about a 1000 pounds behind me lol not sure of I didn't put the drive shaft right with the u joint that connect to the rear differential

you mentioned using power probe to check for ground in solenoid wire harness (said should have ground on both sides or plug) which it would have been great seeing you actually have the probe activated on a battery to see you do it... I get ground only one one side of each solenoid harness, so was it true the probe should light up or beep on both sides? and or should the car key be turned? or everything off to do test?

Valve body does not need to be removed to change harness.

I have ground only on 1 wire for each shift solenoid. No power to pin e but there is on pin d. Had p0756. Tested solenoids and they were good cleaned vb bore and nothing. Shifts good sometimes but then goes into third.

I have a 2012 vw jetta and i have code p30735 and p0734 do you think if i change all the solenoid it will resolve the issue??

I watched your other video on changing out the Shift Solenoids on the 01' Tahoe, same transmission as my 98' Blazer but mine is a 4WD and there is a drive shaft right in the way of the shift link and I can't seem to get my hand up in there properly to get the T20 on it to release the shift link off of the pan. I was just curious on if it's still the same process to take the transmission pan off or is it a different monster cause it's a 4WD? Any help would be very much appreciated. Loving the videos by the way, been learning a lot from watching them, have a good day and I hope to hear back from you. :-)

Can you reach around with a 1/4 drive? Probably no room still. In your case bending the bracket is probably the easiest. Id probably use bigger vise gripps on the bracket as far away from the bolt as possible and bend it back as little as possible. . I hate to even say that tho.

Hello. I appreciate your videos. They help a lot and they are educational. I have a question, did you say a bad solenoid can cause the not go reverse? I would have to replace both for a better performance?

When these solenoids go bad they can cause some weird symptoms. You see more than just a loss of reverse if these were bad tho. I don't think you will get better performance from just replacing your shift solenoids. I'd only replace them for corrective or preventive maintenance.

A is it gonna be similar in a 94 Silverado 2500 And B are they the same sensor same part number just buy 2? Or are there diff part numbers etc.

would this solenoid affect downshifting? My 2000 Ranger after sitting for 6 months of no use started not shifting to the passing gear. Regular up and downshifting is smooth but when i put the pedal to the metal the tranny will not shift to the passing gear. The trans fluid is clear and clean. I've never changed the filter. Is there an additive I could put in to help flush deposits prior to changing the filter and fluid? Tx much

My car hard difficult shifting gears then eventually got stuck in first gear. DSI M78 6T. When I put in R it moves but when I put in D it takes long before taking off. I have code P0700. Do I change solenoids, valve body or TCM?
