An NVR is the easiest route to take. You can use a PC with NVR software. I think it does come with the ability to record directly to a PC but I haven't tried it out. I'm not sure about a similar WiFi model yet, but I do have this camera coming soon: amzn.to/2qBhztH

Great questions. I don't think it's a Hikvision clone. Also, it comes with the latest and greatest firmware. I haven't tried fiddling with it.

Glad to hear you like the 4MP!! I am trying different brands to help expand my knowledge base on these devices. The zoom factor was a huge attraction and the cost. I have a few other brands I'm interested in coming soon. It allows me to do comparisons and help others get the right camera for their needs.

Hey Dave, I wouldn't go too cheap on an NVR. You'll need something with a strong enough processor to stay on top of recording and playback. I only really have experience with the Hikvision NVRs. If there is no port setting option, try the default port for ONVIF: 8999

The resolution is the same for 1X zoom as it is for 18X zoom. It records as the same resolution, no matter the optical zoom level. When you playback footage, you can only digitally zoom. Hope this helps.

I haven't been taking cameras apart, but it's not a bad idea. I might end up with more questions than answers, but I guess that's how we learn. lol

The lens cannot be replaced and I don't know if there is an easy and cost effective solution to adding a secondary lens and still keep the same image quality.

No, sorry, not off the top of my head.

Yes, you can operate the PTZ functions through the NVR. I only have experience in the Hikvision NVR and here is an 8-channel version of the one I have: amzn.to/2JmbWHS. I'm not 100% sure on your jpeg question off the top of my head. Also not 100% on how the export of footage works, but I would be surprised if you cannot do small file exports. Hope this helps.

Just received today the Amazon 4MP Globin PTZ Speed Dome with 18X Zoom camera. Instructions not very good and it's going to be a learning curve. I don't have an NVR and will be plugging it directly into a cable modem. It seems to be alive when I connect the power supply the motor rotates and stops. I'm sure I will get it working after a lot of trial and error. it's definitely not plug in play, more like plugin and pray. Thanks Again

How do you like this HIKVISION® DS-2DE4A220IW-DE 2MP and the DS-2DE4A320 3MP.. I not sure which to by. but IR is only 50Meters.

I like the DS-2DE4A320 3MP. It is only 50m but that's pretty good. If the sensor quality is anything like the Mini PTZ DS-2DE3304W-DE then IRs don't need to be very powerful to get a great shot in the night.

Hi thanks for info. That camera 320 is out of what I want to pay. have you looked at HIKVISION DS-2DE4220IW-DE 2.0 MP lightinbox has it for a sale $387. They do have the HIKVISION® DS-2DE4A220IW-DE 2MP @$503 but that to is on the high end and from china without warranty I assume and risky. Hikvision also has I think a new model HIKVISION DS-2DE5220IW-DE 2.0 MP. I think with the 20x zoom wont 2MP be just fine? I did like the camera in this review but there answer to why it is stopping was.... The belt was getting hot and I should pause for 10sec at each spot. I live in Arizona USA if it can't work all night in cool mid 70's then at 120 in shade in summer it will soon die. I am really leaning to the cheaper. HIKVISION DS-2DE4220IW-DE 2.0 MP. I love the look of the mini dome being smaller but wow a lot for me to spend for the look only when the performance of the HIKVISION DS-2DE4220IW-DE 2.0 MP will do just fine I be leave.

Correct, a high quality pro lens will show very little flair while the cheap plastic ones will be horrible and spread across the image.

Because zed is how they pronounce "Z" in other parts of the world like Europe etc. Instead of the American pronunciation of zee. Please don't assume just because we pronounce something one way in America the rest of the world should have to pronounce it the same.

Yes, you there isn't a lot of ambient light, the quality isn't the best.

I haven't fully tested the dwdr vs true wdr. The human detection works great. When the camera sees human, it places a box around the person and then slowly zooms in and follows the individual.
