5th Generation 4Runner rear spacer comparison between a common 1.5” metal spacer and Rancho RS70080 1.5” poly spacer. The specs for the Rancho RS70080 advertise 1”, but it will lift 1.5”. I have a 2017 4Runner TRD Off-Road with a ProComp 65205 2.25” front spacer lift. I chose the lift 1.5” in the rear with the 2.25” front so that my rear would be 1” higher than the front....and that’s exactly what I accomplished.

The cheap spacer off of ebay requires you to bolt it in the 4runner's spring tower hole (where the top of spring sits). Just setting it on the spring is wrong. It is not designed to do that like the Rancho. The Rancho sits on the spring, but the ebay bolts to the 4runner spring tower. That little hole in the middle is for the hardware. However, I think hardware is not included which is what throws people off. But that's how the ebay one works so either way both will be sturdy. I like the Ranco which is what I got for my 5th gen, but I put the cheap ebay on my 4th gen 4runner and 12 years later plus a million miles later, absolutely no problems with it, I put thread locker and everything when I installed the ebay one. So it ain't going anywhere.

Cornfed spacers design is way better than both of these. They came with hardware to bolt the spacer down into the factory bump stop. Fits nice and snug

Cornfed makes good stuff. I have had zero issues with the Rancho spacer with Bilstein 5100 shocks in the past year.

I don’t believe that metal spacer is made for this application. Cheap junk or not that’s an engineering mismatch disaster which will eventually break that upper bump stop mount and factory spring seat.

ACELLOFAWARENESS I double checked the application and that one was for my 5th Gen. The design was terrible. Zero issues thus far with Rancho spacer.

Alan Lancaster - copy that. I literally just got done about an hour ago doing my brand new fifth generation lift. I used the same Rancho spacers. I can’t stop thinking about what would happen with those metal spacers over time!! That smaller center section would eventually crack and break through the factory spring positioned!!! Real bad news there. I just put the Daystar 2 1/2 inch on my front and much to my dismay it’s actually between 3 inches and 3.25 inches lift!! Now with the inch and a half rancho in the rear that actually came out pretty close instead of losing 1 inch of rake I lost a little more than I wanted and may have to track down some 1.75 rear spacers Which I think I did see from one company maybe it was rocky mountain suspension which started in Colorado but is now based in Tennessee. I do have a slight lean issue not the half-inch everyone talks about more like a quarter inch so I might just do one larger spacer in the rear and that should pretty much straighten it out because lifting one corner also drops the opposite corner a tad but I won’t know until I drive it for a week and make sure the coil springs are worked permanently into position in the top recesses.

ACELLOFAWARENESS my 2.25” ProComp spacer came out at 2.5-2.75” after settling. I have the same lean issue up front. I was going to install a trim spacer from Wheeler’s, just never did it. It’s not that noticeable for now. I have recently installed the Bilstein 5100 rears and that made a noticeable improvement. My plan is to switch out the spacer this year with 5100s and then possibly adding that trim spacer up front. I went up one tire size on factory off-road wheels to 275/70-17 in the Wildpeak ATs. Great tires so far.

Alan Lancaster Good call on the tire size that’s exactly what I’m putting on mine there just isn’t room for anything larger to look good and less you go big left with new struts and the aftermarket upper control arms and I just have no need or desire to do that kind of build on this vehicle. I’m glad there’s some people out there that will post a video like you did I wish there were more but at least it’s growing because it’s so helpful to have access to that kind of information when you are trying to make decisions 👍🏻
