Toyota Land Cruiser vs Tundra - Off-road Comparison
Both trucks are 2-3 inch lifted, and are one 315/70r17 AT tires, both have the same engine 5.7L V8 and similarly built.

Once you drop the locker into a Tundra, it almost unstoppable. Kudos to installing that option!👍🏻That's how it should be from factory like the Tacoma.

I was going to say the same thing. The Tundra for the price is the best off-road truck you can buy. That V8 is perfect for off roading and as a Tundra 4x4 owner I am incredibly impressed with Toyota's 4x4 system. I didn't think it would be great but I have been very surprised. My TRD Pro double cab has RCI rock sliders, 2 1/2 inch lift in the back 3 inch in the front, gray Fox Shox all around, 35 inch Nitto Ridge Grapplers, with a Rhino off road bumper and a 10K warn wench. I also put a 10K lumens light bar in the long hood slot, and extra skid plates throughout the bottom of the truck. All that extra weight brought my mpg down t 12 city and 15-16 highway but definitely worth it.

Nicely built out LC200 with F/R lockers. I have the MT Baja Boss A/T on my LX and BFG KO2 on my GX. The Baja Boss A/T definitely performs better in the wet/muddy terrain than the KO2. Looks like if the LC200 picked a different line, he would have just drove around the rock he flipped. I agree that longer wheelbase vehicle tend to have easier time climbing long hills. Whereas shorter wheel vehicles like the 2D Wranglers, have a tendency to go sideways/flip. I have also notice that longer wheelbase vehicles (mostly trucks or lifted Suburbans) have a hard time if the climb involve turns around large rocks or if the trail is windy. Too long and too big to maneuver. If the top of the climb is followed by a descent, then you will also have to deal with the breakover issue. Especially on a sand dune where you can get beached fast.

all good points, so it seems like the tried and true lc200’s wheelbase is the sweet spot. I am thinking of a set of baja boss next however, I have heard that the silings on them doesn’t go all the way down as the ko2s are, so with more wears down the road it could be less effective in rain,snow,ice conditions. But I can’t attest that since I have not own one.

Did you re-gear your tundra when you added the locker?Also did you go with electronic or air locker ?

10:30 this is why you need 17" not larger than 18" wheels (like they are using in the video) for off-roading this type of terrain. Wheels that are 20" or bigger is not ideal for most off-roading (running 20" wheels with 37's like running 18" wheels and 35's, however the smaller the wheel the better off you will be). The problem is manufacturers sell trucks with 20" wheels as OEM. Tire manufacturers then make all kinds of tires to fit OEM sizes, including mud tires etc. This perpetuates the misconception that all you need is the proper tread for any size wheel. NOTHING could be further from the truth. Off-roading requires the maximum amount of tire wall for airing down in order to maximize the tire's potential to work successfully in off-road terrain. This video demonstrates proper equipment (these guys are using) selection and even with the proper equipment the terrain can still be disagreeable such as with the Land Cruiser going up Rolling Rock Hills. Running less effective equipment does you no favors out here, looks and bling is useless.

Well said, on a previous outing, a stock f150 with 20 inch tires had a puncture from the same terrain.

Manufacturers build vehicles for all around use and for that purpose about 7 to 9 inches of sidewall are ideal. It's stable enough for towing hauling and cornering while still good off road. I've had 15 inch wheels and 38s which are good offroad but pretty much horrible at everything else. If your going with 37s and up I wouldn't go smaller then 17s with 18s or 20s being better all around and still good offroad. Too much sidewall and heavy vehicles like these combined with low psi once you get off camber can pop a bead. 20s ain't all bad if you have atleast 35s with 37s honestly being about ideal for all around use loaded down with tools or overland gear. To much side wall with high payload or towing sucks.

FRS radios are useful for ground guiding. No need to repeat instructions or warnings as much and no need to yell over the engine and tires.

Man way to fast over that area. He just flew over. Just because you have extremely capable 4x4 it does not mean you can just go crazy and you won’t get stuck.
