That beach was easily the hardest beach to get out of. Even driving on the beach itself required me to drop the tyres down to 12psi. To get back up 6.5psi on low range diff lock and pedal to the floor. I was so relieved to get out of there with my mitsy challenger. The first and last time I'm going there. 4WD's be warned!

I have been down there a few times and I recall one time when the beach was like that, I had my tyres down to 10 PSI and wasnt sure if i would make it back off the beach. I was lucky that I was able to keep the momentum up and get turned around without having to stop. I have never seen another beach get like that, its like driving on fluffy mud.

This place took me by surprise, it was way harder than I expected. We did the beach OK on 22 psi in my Ranger but getting out....wow. Had to drop to 18 and 16 psi, foot to the floor and lots of bouncing along the ruts. Very exciting...and I'm not sure I will do it again.

Been there once and never again. Had to let tyres down to 6psi to get out of there. Driving on the beach was hard enough. Then its even worse getting off the beach and then worse still you have the dark sand steep section. To make things even worse again there's a bend that tries to lose your momentum. Still proud of my Mitsubishi challenger that conquered it.

Grew up in Albany and used to go to Bornholm fishing up to 4 times a week when the salmon were running. Never had any issues, all you have to do is run very low pressures. 5-8psi in a small 4x4 and 6-10psi in a large 4x4. It is only the idiots with too much air in the tyres that chew the tracks up and have issues. Just go down further on the air than you normally would.

I for one would not be going down there anytime soon. The beach is almost as bad between Wedge Island and Lancelin.

Do not even think about trying Bornholm like this in the summer or autumn when the sand is dry and churned up .Especially with vehicles loaded up like these guys and with way too much tyre pressure .Bornholm really needs around 10psi and then you risk rolling a tyre off a rim or damaging a bead.Please do not churn it up and make it harder for everybody else like these guys have done and you should unload anything heavy before you attempt it.Passengers may also need to walk up the hill to lighten the vehicle -as we have had to do in the past and that is not much fun.Many 4WDs have not made it out of here and getting the local farmer to tow you out is a very expensive lesson.
