To those who are frustrated about the series. I was also disappointed that I did not complete the route. But what you get on my channel is real. No contrived hype here. What you see is what happened, and I am human. This was an extremely demanding trip. Few of you have any concept of how demanding shooting videos of this quality is. Not a single one of the 800+ Patreons, who paid for the videos, has complained. Not one! I am flattered that you are disappointed. But you have no right to complain. Its free. Remember that. I do my best. You have laid the responsibility on me to entertain you and moan when I don't live up to your self-made expectations. Its absurd, when you think about it.

No problems Andrew, keep up the good work! Sometimes things don’t go to plan and that is life. Making a choice to not continue on the initial route when it is causing fatigue and exhaustion is sound risk management especially in that isolated region of Australia. Those who do not understand this have little appreciation for the full consequences that can come with pushing beyond exhaustion limits for extended periods of time. You made the right choice. Your channel is grounded in reality, keep doing what you are doing. I look forward to the next video.

Hi Andrew, seems like i know you, been following your trips for a while now, and love them. I have been around Australia a couple or so times myself over the last 37 years, once on a motor bike, ended up in Alice Springs hospital after hitting a monster patch of bulldust when the road to Ayers Rock, as it was called then, was still dirt, bad too, with a few broken bones, once in a 1971 HiAce van, and took a Mahindra, a CJ3B equivalent with a diesel, through the Simpson, busted shocks, caught fire getting grass caught under the cars exhaust, good thing we were with 3 blokes, had to push the thing up some of the dunes and got lost badly, but we made it, that was about 25 years ago no GPS then, fairly exciting adventure that was! Apart from many other trips on bikes, cars and 4WD's, would you believe once in a 4WD I had 4 flat tyres on the way from Adelaide to Melbourne on the main highway, had the same thing happen from Hay NSW to the Barossa SA on a bike!!? No luck at all! I pulled of the road once near Hay not realizing it had rained and got a Harley hopelessly bogged a foot of the main highway the more i tried to get back on the further it went of the road, a semi(driver) helped to pull me back on the road, it had mud so packed under the guards it would't move at all after, i had been in oz for 4 months then in 1981. Rain so bad it made ducks look for cover, not to mention hail, bees and yes, snow(ever been on a motorbike with an open face helmet in a hail storm or have a swarm of bees in your path?)dodged and or hit Brahma bulls, heards of roos, wombats and other wild life and swam, unknowingly(ignorant tourist), with crocs, been through monster bushfires in the Vic mountains., hit both sides of the frame on the ground on a bike when hitting a pothole on Queensland, nearly got lost in a bulldust hole in West Australia, that Hiace nearly disappeared, flash floods the lot. I have traveled approximately a million kilometers in Australia (I've been everywhere man..I've been everywhere man...lol) and loved it all and met the best people and yes there was many many great times as well etched into my memory, my point is all this and much more happened to an unsuspecting Dutch boy who traveled fairly extensively in Europe and North Africa, or so I thought. What it taught me is, never take Australia for granted, be prepared and take your time when traveling, its a fantastic adventure.

I just finished the series. I spent the day watching them back to back. What an unbelievable journey and I’m so pleased to have watched this. A true adventure and thank you for the hard work.

As being in the industry myself, I know how exhausting it is to film. Not even the 1/4 of the people who criticised you, know how it is done. You've done a great job. You work hard. You travel far. Dont worry about Ozzies complaining.....we always say whinging Poms, but we are worse lol....you will get used to it and it means we like you if you can take a bit of biff lol..... Don't feel bad about the trip beating you.....its a very hard one, and not many have done it in a short time frame.....and trust me, I have done it quiet a few times, and to this day I still hate the bloody flies, and plaster myself with all sorts of potions to try and get rid of them.....nothing seems to work 100%.....its a big trip in a short time, and its ok to bail......I have been there and done that when I first took it on, for similar reasons, and although these days I am good with doing it in one go, there was a time when I didn't enjoy it as much as I do now.....at least you are honest and told it like it was......I don't feel cheated, keep up the awesome video's, I have watched all of your video's at least once......some of them a few times !! Enjoy Africa....looking forward to the video :) ..... to all the armchair travelling experts, you need to get out more and you will soon understand these video's........you want to understand the game, you need to play the game.......Andrew, Next time you are in the Simpson, look me up ;)

Andrew, you have dedicated you life to travel in many amazing places, spending many, many hours video taping your travels, FOR US (many hours of extra time to do this). Then once home you sit on your sore, worn out ass to edit many hours of footage for US!! Yes, KZfaq is for US a FREE viewing pleasure with more interesting stuff then any pre-fabbed documentary. Many KZfaq viewers are freeloaders (not patreons, sorry I am not a patreon, which I could be). Sure, you do this for a business, and I respect you for that, so do many others! I sit at my computer 16,000km away admiring your passion, I (and many of your followers) will probably never get to Australia and have the time to offload it, so seeing the amazing country presented as best as you can (thanks for Africa too), is far beyond most reasonable peoples expectations. With others like, Ronny Dahl, Jim McPhee, John Roothy and taking the time to share is beyond most peoples compassion. Thanks a lot for sharing this trip. You just brought me back to 2003 when I did my Australia adventure. I visited the eastern most point, the northern most point and the western most point. I spent a night in the car right next to the Steep Point sign. When I traveled from Western Australia to Uluru, I went on a road they call "The Outback Highway". Not much of a highway but it was a great track. Try that one out if you go that way again at some point. - Martin

Hi Andrew, you certainly are as you state “Living the Dream” and what a wonderful bank of memories you will have to be relived over and over when too old to carry out serious adventures. Watching this episode takes me back to another time long ago and the reliving of one particular journey when I was doing a bit of vehicle promotion and testing. In 1977 I departed Cape Byron driving an LJ50 two stroke Suzuki 4X4 soft top across the Australian continent bound for Steep Point some 5600 km away. At Birdsville I detoured about 60 kms to the north to cross the flooded Eyre Creek at a place called Dickerrie Crossing. From there guided by compass only, no GPS then, I set a course due west in an endeavour to make the first vehicle crossing of the Simpson Desert cross country east to west by vehicle. At the time this was considered to be an impossible feat due to the steep easterly face of some 1200 odd parallel sand dunes blocking the way. After seven days of total isolation with no sign of man’s intrusion into this unique wilderness area, other than crossing the north to south Colson Track, and after about 350 kms of continuous sand hill country I finally reached the other side thus successfully completing this part of my mission. Proceeding on, I passed through Ayers Rock, Warburton Mission, out along the Gunbarrel Highway, to Wiluna, then a tangle of confusing station tracks around Beringarra Station to finally reach the Overlander Roadhouse for a well earned fuel stop and break. It was then just a short trip to finally park my vehicle on the very edge of the most westerly point of mainland Australia, Steep Point. Here with the sheer cliffs continually being pounded into submission by the Indian Ocean, one final treat. After such a long journey across the dry inland the smell and the refreshing salty mist on my face from the sea spray whipped up and over the escarpment linger to this day. My return journey back to Cape Byron took ten days helped along by using some of the tracks crossing the Simpson Desert (WAA, QAA etc). The following year I was back at Steep Point, this time in my larger Suzuki LJ80 Hard Top 4X4. My objective was what I thought would be an achievable 5 day crossing over the continent to Cape Byron. Mother Nature however fought me all the way. The Gunbarrel was flooded, Ayers Rock had been closed to tourists due to the rain and I wasted a whole day just skirting the flooded Spring Creek Delta (Dalhousie area) just to get to the safety of the desert sands. The desert itself was easy due to the firm sand much of it being driven in two wheel drive, however getting from Big Red into Birdsville was a nightmare with the track flooded and thus rendered invisible for miles. Birdsville had been isolated and late that night I passed a struggling police convey carrying food supplies heading for Birdsville. Luck was however on my side. The police allowed me to be the last vehicle to cross a flooded river ahead as the bridge was rapidly going under water. As a matter of fact the police said “get out of here fast - you’ve got five minutes and that’s it”. Ultimately I finally made it to Cape Byron. My crossing took just under seven days and although disappointed that my mission objective of a five day crossing hadn’t been achieved, I’d had one hell of a journey. Enjoy your personal journeys, travel safe, kill more flies, wear a fly net or just learn to live with those little buggers and stop complaining. Thank you for your great photography - I love the night sky shots particularly. Well done.

Andrew has spent a life time of overlanding adventure through Africa and filming some of the most (if not the most) beautiful wilderness areas on the planet. By comparison of what we have become used to on this channel, it would be a huge task to make a trip through Australia seem even remotely interesting, but Andrew did it. His dry sense of humour and quirky comments is what got me through the Aus crossing series but sure guts and determination is what got Andrew and his lovely daughter Kate through a journey that is not o n my bucket list!

The most are not, bud judging from a warm seat back home. Planing such a track means, doing it as long as it is fun or the feeling good, when that stops change the plan - thats my experince aswell - respect that you did Andrew. Hi Andrew, loved the series, despite that it didn't go as planned, a bit like life. Not sure what the haters are on about, you mentioned weeks ago that you changed your plans. I met you at your Melbourne met and greet. Thank you for your generosity, insights and that you let all and sundry crawl all over your vehicle. Not sure that I would be that keen, says a lot about you. I live in northern Victoria and people from Melbourne can't always get the local names correct, so don't worry about that, just remember to order "A beer" when walking into a foreign pub - Pot, Schooner, Midi or glass all too hard. Keep up the good work

Really enjoyed the whole series, including this final episode. I've only ever done 1 to 2 day micro expeditions over the past year and I don't think any of them have ever gone exactly to plan. Just in my relatively few wilderness excursions, I've had to change my plans on the fly due to: roads blocked by fallen trees or proving otherwise impassible; unexpected snow; scenery that ended up being less interesting than expected; plain and simple fatigue; maps showing roads that are no longer there; accidentally discovering an unplanned route that turns out to be more interesting than the planned route; and, yes, one time it was even intolerable swarms of flying insects. These are real-world things that happen. It should always be at the discretion of every traveler to change their plans at any time to make their trip more enjoyable. It's YOUR trip, not ours, and you shouldn't have to apologize for doing what made sense to you and Kate. I'm glad their was no forewarning that the route didn't go as planned...this allowed us viewers to live it as you lived it. Had you mentioned it upfront as some people have suggested you should have, someone else would gripe about the "spoiler." LOL Ultimately it was really nice of you to cobble in that last little segment so that, even though it didn't go as planned, we STILL got to see it - thank you! I can't believe people griped about that too. This channel has become one of my very favorites, now looking forward to the new Africa series. Keep doing your trips however you best see fit, and thank you for sharing them with us.

I was expecting more footage from the trip and talking to even those running the cattle farms, never been to Australia and probably will be never go there so I was looking for some picture about life there in the Australian outback. 6 episodes for such a long trip is not a lot, we are greedy and we love your work and wish you good luck in your future journeys...

I would like to thank you and Paul personally for helping with our vechile choices. Me and my father own a mk3 Hilux and have placed an alumnium v8 1uzfe from a lexus. It is a toy and not used for overlanding but is a jeep nonetheless. My father has owned it for the past 20 odd years. He has had spots on it for as long. When you mentioned overheating I suggested getting a light bar. We have since installed one and favor its thermal attributes. There is now no fan in traffic or when's it parked up. Really do love your work without exception. And now and again something incongruous-black tee shirt in 38 deg C and flies, especially horse (cattle?) flies love sweaty dark tee shirts to bite. It must remind them of cow hide. Cant wait for the next adventure.

I love steep point. Go there annually. We book our camp exactly where you want to stay. Would be awesome to see you there, we go during the winter and its still quite warm at that time. Could show you a few things there and bring you out on the boats for fishing.

Thoroughly enjoyed this and all your videos. You marvelled at the beauty of Uluru but you need to take a trip to Mt Augustus in your own state of WA. It is larger than Uluru and in my view much more impressive. Maybe when your new LC79 is finished, head north young man.

I am following Andrew from few years. I like his style. Film as it comes. But expected bit more than this. He missed the best part of Australia to “ show the bight to Kate “. highly recommend the section from Uluru to Meekatharra. Back in 1966 Leyland brothers cross Australian mainland from west to east using star navigations with land rovers. Andrew I recommend to watch “wheels across a wilderness” I thought he may mention Leyland names on this expedition.

Andrew, look at the comments without a negative slant on what people are saying, your trips (all I have watched ) cinematography wise appear as if when you start these you cannot wait to get to the end they are so speeded up, thousands of Km in 3 or 4 episodes you do not seem to stop to smell the roses! compare your Canning stock route with the one by Gavin Gillett for instance and you will see what I mean no good getting all hurt take the comments on board to improve. At your age obviously you do not have the stamina of Gavin or Ronny what you should do is take rest stops and make breaks you do not need to tell the viewer that in can seem to be continuous and go slower and get more footage this is what people are complaining about they have not seen much for your 14000 Km trip and not keep commenting on how bad conditions are that is Australia I just ignore the flies there many cremes and sprays you can use to deter them! The other thing you seem to have on your mind other commitments making you rush the job on hand is the only one at the time to be considered or do not take on so many commitments. I am sure these other people will agree with my comments!

Really can't blame you for bailing on that journey. It's ok if you have a few weeks to do the distance you were planning on covering from Uluru to the west, but to attempt it in just over a week after so long on the road driving almost every day would floor most people, no matter what anyone says. Good to see the stats at the end too, I actually consider them to be an important aspect of overlanding videos that most others miss out so thank you for including the info 👍

Next Oz trip go to The Kimberly. Was there in the early 90s. Magical, with lots of interesting places to visit, like the Bungle Bungles.

No. 1 Tip for Uluru, go in January! No tourists, No crowds, and you have the oppertunity to see it in full water fall from the summer rains! Uluru was nothing for me, just a rock, until i saw it in full water fall, even the indigenous people were racing in their cars to see it! Says something....

Reminds me off Independence Rock in the US. Very cool to visit.

Another great REAL LIFE experiene sharing, video, tour and equipment testing. "Sponsors" should be proud of promoting REAL LIFE experiences as the ones Andrew gave to us. In fact, Andrew is a pioneer of a very new enterprise: to exchange REAL LIFE experiences, enjoying it in the process (I am afraid he could became tired of some non-sense critics), doing it for a living and testing gear with independence. Many times I thought how could Andrew do so much in so short time, enjoying it! I never shoot videos on expeditions/trips and it´s almost always tiring to do the basic stuff - Drive - cook - camp. Maybe, to deal with all the stuff involved, as time skedule (Maybe some critics think Andrew maintain a tight time skedule because he likes it and not because he´s working hard to make things happen), sponsors, meetings, speeches, family problems, and specially non-sense people, are even frustrating than any corrugations and flies. Tks for the very good work Andrew.
