Extreme Trains: • Longest Model Train Ev...
Rave reviews from all over the world are flooding in about the Colorado Model Railroad Museum, located by the mainline of the Union Pacific Railroad in Greeley, Colorado. This one-of-a-kind facility features over 600 railroad-related artifacts ranging from a Virginia and Truckee Railroad switch key to a full-sized Colorado and Southern wooden Caboose available for examining both inside and out.
Designed to appeal to visitors of all ages and nationalities, the CMRM has set record attendance marks in its first four years of operation and has become the leading year-round tourist attraction in Weld County, Colorado. The highlight of the museum is its huge, 5,500 sq. ft. operating model railroad dubbed "the finest model railroad I've ever seen", by the 30-year senior editor of Model Railroader magazine, Jim Hediger, Milwaukee, WI.
Visitors may actually stroll through this three dimensional creation while the railroad is in operation. They are surrounded by rugged mountains with handmade features including 16,000 fir, 8,000 deciduous and 4,000 aspen trees with rivers abound. Scenery becomes three dimensional art. The use of cameras is encouraged and guides are available to answer railroad-related questions and to point out unique aspects of this one-of-a-kind modeling wonder. Take a visual tour through this amazing railroad in miniature via the CMRM website, then plan of visiting the museum in person the next time you visit Colorado.
Check it out at cmrm.org/
Sorry for some of the quicker and shakier shots, I went on a busy day and there were a lot of people there, so I was trying to be quick. Please subscribe, and check out my other model train videos!

A standard rule for video is use a stationary platform (tripod pr mono-pod) pan slowly and remain on a image you want to pay special attention to for a minimum of 3 seconds - this will help you produce great videos.

Agreed. Always remember: when you're taking a filming of any miniature, it's IMPERITIVE you do not rush, as you are both recording the "facts" about something, and you are the actual eyes of the people watching the video. Unfortunately, '...was a busy day...' is irrelavent to the viewer. It's ALWAYS BEST to have a host "explore" with you so the viewers can get a true appreciation for the size and also quality of the subject matter. You need to go through layouts this size, after you're well familiar with what you want to convey about it. A well PLANNED VIDEO gets you many more likes. You cannot create a 14 minute video this brief of a "HUGE" LAYOUT that would be better suited for at least an hour or more and expect all thumbs up, as you've no doubt discovered. I just viewed probably one of the most frustrating 14 minutes I have in decades. I don't need to see each detail, just some overviews of main areas and , like a few key scenes within each to feel the quality. Luckily, I'm a modeller, so I already know if it's a club open to the public, I will plan to see it myself, soon. Structure, structure, structure / plan, plan, plan, & your vids will yield way better comments and likes. You get thumbs up from me for the very Idea of sharing this layout, and the exterior shots, but yeah, work on the composition of the video like you would "a project". Your viewers will be wanting to save it, and watch it over, & over, and, I'll bet the club will be much happier too. Good luck. (I'm sure the re-do is better, but, I'll pass, thanks.) 🤔🦗🦗🦟🦟🦟🎢 Rating: 2 grasshoppers; jumping around unexpectedly and not knowing where I am on the layout; 3 mosquitos; getting irritated by not staying long enough on big areas of detail or a single thing- pulling away b4 identifing what i'm looking at. 1 Rollercoaster; what I just watched. Too fast to appreciate the size.

Its beautiful but its not the largest. Germany has that title with Mini Wunderland in Hamburg. 50,525ft of track, 73,195 sq ft of floor space and 16,038 sq ft of layout. I went there two months ago and its unreal. Trains are not the only thing that moves. Cars, trucks, buses, fire departments, and even people. Awesome layout the germans did.

You got swept up in the reatness of this layout. Go back and redo this and don't let the grandness insult your talent with a video camera.

It SURE would've been such a treat to be a videographic "passenger" or "trainee" as a session progressed, SRM!! I have been with Tex-N in the dallas area and op'd on quite a few that were very challenging due to their larger sizes- even modual types at the OKC show!! It's like you ACTUALLY GO SOMEWHERE on the layout vs seeing your destination 3 feet away!
