It seems overwhelming at first but its really pretty simple. I would recommend finding the factory manual for the year of motor and harness you are using. It comes in handy. The factory 85 starting solenoid is how i got around the transmission is in park or neutral code. It would not start with out bypassing it. I'm going to do a video on the gas tank. Not a hundred percent sure yet but it looks like the tank outta the 2000 will bolt up into the 85. there might be a clearance issue with one spot.

@@bigcaliber211 did you get the transmission codes cleared I'm in CA and wanted to do a smog legal swap and go to the state reff so I can't have any codes come up..
@bigcaliber2115 жыл бұрын
@@rodrigomesa5074 No I didn't. The only code I had come up was the In Park or Neutral code. The wires for the transmission i have zip tied to the tranny. I'm in Idaho so I don't have to deal with any of that. You'll probably need two oxygen sensors,the front ones. I remember seeing that in the factory manual for CA

I'm pretty sure that code is due to the neutral safety switch not being hooked up

I’m wanting to do the same swap into my Jeep. I was wondering how did you by pass the security system?
@bigcaliber2113 жыл бұрын
The donor truck I got my motor from didn't have it. I talked to someone who did this swap and he sent his in to get flashed.

Sweet truck. I’ve got a 90 and wanna do the same thing. What all has to be done to keep the serpentine belt set up? Do power steering hoses work or did you have to make your own? What do you do to make it charge? Thanks
@bigcaliber2114 жыл бұрын
It's been a bit but I think i used a combo of the 2000 hoses and the 85. I kept the inline cooler. In used the the all the original 2000 engine wiring harness and powered the rest of the truck threw the 2000 fuse box. The red wire powers up all the rest of the 85's original circuits. It could be different on a 90

Big Caliber ok cool thanks. What did you do for fuel system? Did the 2000 sending unit fit in the 85 tank?
@bigcaliber2114 жыл бұрын
@@thomasmartens7806 I used the factory 2000 tank, I built some new straps and it fit fairly good. Might hang down a touch more the the 85. It was easier than cutting the mounting hole for the fuel pump outta the 2000 tank and plastic welding it into the 85 . tank. As far as the fuel gauge goes . That I have not worked out. Ordered some little converter box from Speedway. It didn't work and customer support had no clue. The guy never dealt with a dodge conversion before. I'm looking at one from tanks inc, seems to have a few more bells and whistles. Cheaper too. Hope that helps

Your truck might be new enough(LOL) that if it came with factory fuel injection the pump in the tank will work. The 2000 needs 49, 50 pounds of pressure . Might wanna check your pump and see what it puts out if it was fuel injection.

Can you provide how you pinned the obd2 connector? I have a 5.9 swapped Cherokee but can’t seem to get the obd2 pin out correct.
