Fantastic breakdown of advanced pickleball return strategies! 🏓 Your insights on how to outplay opponents with smart returns are spot-on. I've been focusing on enhancing my own return game lately, especially the importance of positioning and anticipation. It's fascinating how strategic returns can shift the momentum of the game.

Such good advice in this pod. A bit more difficult to apply when playing Rec open play. Too many different styles and opinions in the mix. Advanced player tips for sure.

Some, yes agree. Hit back to person that just missed. Thats controllable. Hit to backhand is controllable. But dome of the positioning more difficult

Love your videos.. I have a video idea some of your viewers will really appreciate, here goes . I play with my Dad as a partner and through the years his mobility has obviously slowed down, this has changed the way I play with him as a partner in order to cover shots he can't get to or to give him more time to get to the kitchen line.. I would love to see a video on how to play with a partner who doesn't have great mobility or how to pick up the slack on a partner who is not at your level.. BTW my Dad is in his mid 80s ( yes mid 80s) and he still plays 3 to 5 times a week and he plays to about 3 to 3.5 level.

Thats really good! Will put it on my list. The “cover your partner” tip in this video can definitely be used the sane way to help give your partner more time ti get up. This is my go to when playing with someone who has less mobility. Step into the middle to hit the ball being hit at them on their way up.

Kyle, I need your expertise on how to stop hitting the ball into the net. I have a very low serve and drive but often getting caught up giving away free points into the net. Love your videos!

That’s easy, stop hitting the ball into the net. Haha, no but really, don’t we all want to stop hitting the ball into the net or out. Watch one video- then practice something. Kyle is great.

You want to put a little more loft in your shot! Get the paddle under the ball a little more to loft it more over the net!

Kyle - this question has nothing to do with this video but I didn’t know how else to get in touch with you (I’m not on instagram! ) I’ve seen lots of advice on aiming the ball as in hit to your opponent’s feet or hit down the middle. But what is the technique for actually AIMING the ball ?
@thatpickleballguy
@thatpickleballguy 5 ай бұрын
I'd say more important than the technique is having an intention of where you want to hit it. Try just putting more focus to the spot you're aiming for. Rather than thinking about technique. The book, "inner game of tennis" will open your eyes big time to this concept. Now, from a technique standpoint, when you get there, use shorter, more compact swings. Remove big swings from your game for 80% of all shots. Hope this helps!

If your partner returns short and high, would you say the non-returning player should take a step off the line, and cover center? Or stay up at the kitchen line?
@thatpickleballguy
@thatpickleballguy 5 ай бұрын
It is definitely not a bad idea to take a step off just remain alert and on balance in case you need to recover forward for a drop into the kitchen

A lot of this content assumes you know your opponents well. You even mention that a couple of times. With that said, returning to a backhand is generally a good idea as well as to a person who just missed a 3rd but the latter isn't reliable. Deep returns to the middle are a good idea, too.
@thatpickleballguy
@thatpickleballguy 5 ай бұрын
Agree on deep returns to the middle. And good point about knowing the opponent. When you have more info before a match, you can make these decisions prior. BUT, if you dont, observe in the first half of the game and make adjustments based on what you observe. In tournament play, when im playing someone ive never seen, i like an earlier timeout (unless were just winning easily) to give a second for me and my partner to quickly evaluate and make adjustments. It can be hard in the 10 seconds between points.

Parts of this are very good and useful, but it gets too manic in other parts and it’s hard to follow. I feel like I’m being forced to watch cartoons mixed in with lessons. I understand that it’s branding, but it’s just too much .
