I don't agree that Luna's beliefs were "quirks". They were misinformation that she accepted from her father, out of love and possibly because they lived a solitary life. Her friends didn't want to confront her with her father's problem with reality. I think JKR also wanted to portray the talented-yet-ditsy magical type I remember from old movies and TV. Luna is that lovable oddball.

Although Evanna Lynch worked well with the lines & direction she was given, as a super fan you'd think she would have stood up for her character a bit more, & been like "hang on a minute this isn't quite right, how about I do it like this, instead?"

I do agree with you on this. However, here’s the problem because it was her first acting job. It’s likely that if she stood up and said well, why don’t I do it this way that the people at Warner Brothers probably would not have been so lenient about her doing things a different way that you know maybe a Director wanted her to do That even if she read the book, she got a sense of Luna’s character so even if she did things slightly differently, I don’t think it’s really that big a deal. However, I still agree with you that she probably should’ve said some things and said this doesn’t feel right. What if I did it this way and so on.

I do find her mildly annoying, but my only true complaint about her is that she wasn't introduced until the 5th book. Obviously Rowling didn't imagine her until then, but Luna is representative of the lack of Rowling's expansion/exploration outside of Gryffondor and Slytherin.

Luna was also the one to point out about the kestrels. The animals that pulled the carriages to Hogwarts which were invisible to people who had not seen death. That alone maybe give you an indication of why Luna could see stuff that most people could not. Maybe she was exposed to things that people had to experience or see or whatever in order to be able to see them later on. I can't remember something Dumbledore said as well. There are some magic that you have to feel. That was when they were looking for and found the horcrux in the middle of the lake

Thestral is a winged horse only visible to those who have directly witnessed death. Not kestrel, which is a bird of prey, a type of falcon. Luna can see Thestrals (OP chapter 10), having witnessed her mother’s death when she was nine (OP chapter 38).

Because he was destined for Ginny. The perfect match. She was clever, talented, self secure, confident, and gorgeous....just like Harry's mom. There is the old saying...boys tend to marry girls similar to their mom, and girls tend to marry men similar to their dads. Much in the way Ron and Hermione were destined. Hermione is so much like Molly, it's not even comprehensible. She's clever, very talented, and of course, very BOSSY....just like Molly. That said.....in the movie, they seems to give indication that Neville and Luna hooked up. Rowling has stated that didn't happen in the book world....Neville marry Hannah Abbott? and Luna married Rolf Scamander...grandson of Newt Scamander.
