i can help! i always used to find myself in this habit of wanting to fix my sleep schedule but being in a really bad schedule that is hard to fix, for example going to sleep at 4am and waking up at 1pm. there are two things i either do when i'm in this situation - 1, my preferred method, try to go to sleep just a little bit earlier maybe 2am or earlier if possible. then set your alarm for the time you would like to wake up for example 7am. when your alarm goes off you can't snooze it, just roll out of bed, splash your face with water, and walk around the house to wake up. granted you'll be tired all day but then you can go to sleep at a reasonable time for example 11pm, because you'll be so tired. then you wake up at 7am again and the cycle continues and you'll get used to it again. 2, my least preferred method. if you find yourself awake at 4am, simply pull an all nighter and go to sleep later that day for example at 9-10pm so you can wake up early and still be rested. it might also be helpful to learn about how much sleep you need (REM cycles), and avoid caffeine 9 hours before you plan to go to sleep (basically only drink caffeine in the mornings). hope this helped :)

One way I found to help me sleep when I'm restless is the 4 7 8 trick. Inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7, and exhale for 8. Just slowing down your breath and focusing on your breathing in general can help you fall asleep faster, because when you sleep your breathing naturally slows down. Also try not to move around too much and stay in one place.

I have breathing problems and my doctor recommended a breathing technique that didn't help my breathing problem but helped me to fall asleep lol. So basically you breathe into your stomach (not chest) through your nose and exhale through your mouth. I keep one hand on my stomach and do this about 10 times and it helps me a lot when I can't fall asleep. I think this might help people with anxiety too.

I think it’s kind of funny, that the people who always say to me that they didn’t sleep are always the people who never do they homework or basically anything for school. Whereas I’m sleeping around 8 hours and I always do my homework. Sure, some people have other responsibilities, but most of them usually tell you that they didn’t have time to do the homework because they had to watch Netflix. Also, try to understand the topic of a lecture as soon as possible. I mean that you should try to get answers to the questions you have before the next lesson, because you’ll likely end up having more understanding problems because they pile up quickly. Example: I write down the questions I have and either ask my teacher or look them up after class. You can even use the questions for active recall. And don’t assume that the „perfect notes“ wit perfect colours and drawings and perfect handwriting is how people write in class. For some it might be possible, but it’s not usually the case. My class notes are messy, but I like to make them prettier afterwards.

@@riannaeve6710 watching Netflix isn’t an issue in general. I watch Netflix or yt while or after doing my homework or other stuff as well. @nessar2656
@nessar2656 2 жыл бұрын
For me it was really just taking a hard look at how toxic and abusive my perfectionism was and realizing that perfectionism DOES NOT equal success. I feel like perfectionism in our culture is so praised but really thinking about it...it only leads to more downfalls and our general unhappiness. I'm still working on it but what really works for me is just having more compassion for myself and also remembering that perfectionism comes from fear, not motivation. My fear was of failure which I thought was anything less than perfect but the truth is, first of all, anything less than perfect is still epic and amazing, and secondly, failure is inevitable but helps us learn and grow. Allow yourself that relief of just being human and growing and learning. Perfect also does not exist, but simply trying your best. I hope this helped a little and remember, your journey away from perfection will also have its mistakes and "imperfections" but it will make you happier in the end, and that's what matters most :)

I agree with everything that @Nessa R said. For me also something that helped me a lot 'letting go' and having compassion with myself was having a person/character to look up to. In one of my favorite TV series, one of the main characters loses her first match in an elimination tournament. Not even being able to get to the second series of matches is far from being perfect, yet the way she gave her best made it so that I deeply admired her after the match. She lost, but she was still awesome in my eyes. Whenever I'm being too harsh on myself, I think of that character, and I receive some calm knowing that not being perfect doesn't mean that what I did was worthless. I also wanted to emphasize Nessa's sentence where they say "Allow yourself that relief of just being human and growing and learning". Seeing my mistakes not as pitfalls in my journey, but rather as unlocking openings to higher mountains where I can improve my skills, helped me very much. I used to feel that I had to be perfect on my first try and understand things immediately, but I realized that growing and improving can be so, so much more satisfying.

(this is for me) mistakes to avoid: 1. not sleeping sleeping is essential to memory encoding, so it’s important to set a sleep time 2. starting late - get started early depending on how much you have to study - review the informations over the time to remember them 3. not taking breaks 4. unhealthy perfectionism - it’s okay to not do everything perfectly, the important thing is to do something 5. taking advice as gospel - we are all unique and it’s okay to have different methods, find what’s best for you

With the whole 'toxic competition for who sleeps the least', the way I perceive it (and the people around me), it's less of a competition of who spent the most time studying, but more a competition for self-pity. It sounds dramatic and piteous when you say that you did nothing until 10pm and then had to work until 2 because you put it off for four hours (because that I do sometimes), and when you one-up someone it's almost like saying "don't feel bad about _your_ situation, look how bad _I've_ got it"

As someone who struggles with math here is what I do- I write down everything, if there’s a math equation I make sure to write down the teachers explanation in detail, I write out any definitions they give, all examples, all the diagrams, etc…. It’s allowed me to go back over the notes and walk through it step by step without the teacher while studying and it’s very helpful.

I think the “flow state” she is talking about is like the adhd hyperfocus if you have adhd you know what I mean but like if you’re interested even just a little bit you like go into this nonstop mode were you like go into this world of extreme focus. And on the other hand, if you’re not interested it’s near impossible to get anything done without constant distraction.

I’m still in middle school and whenever I watch study videos it’s usually from people who already go to college so I always get confused about their study methods; the different amount of study time, different kind of note taking and/or a lot of different supplies and methods. However, I find your videos very comforting and easygoing, so it’s easier for me to relate to your study methods. Keep it up and thanks for your tips!
