Yesssss so true. Or like a HUD. Basically the same thing. So crazy... imagine looking at a material and it being able to pull up information on what material, composition of whatever etc... or look at a friend and it will pop up with information of them..one step closer to being cyborgs.

Very good glasses, just I thought Meta 2 would of came up in the top five... It is Meta 2 or magic leap for number one place then at number three would be the HoloLens... but now there has been a big change around in the way of the Glasses... I just can't wait till everyday people can buy them.

I've wanted to make a service to scan apartments and houses someone or a family wants to buy and use an AR headset to put an augmented version of their existing furniture or example furniture into the new house/apartment space to how it fits, which sounds like Holo Property. The Microsoft Holo Lens is too expensive for me to do that right now. The Magic Leap One sounds interesting to check out especially when they get the prescription inserts.

Vuzix Blade was discontinued like days after this upload. They have used ones at the time of this post for as low as 700 USD on Amazon. But if it is discontinued I wouldn't trust it working properly. And no support. I am waiting for augmented contact lenses..

I also wish to wish to fight monsters that have previously killed real people in another video game using only melee weapons as it's guns apparently don't do s**t, only to possibly have my memory stolen and my brain almost fried at a hologram concert that's ultimately stopped because a teenager who only wears black clothing got ticked off that his girlfriend couldn't remember how they met.

It depends on what part of the whole industry you want to do. Do you want to make apps that use existing technologies, work on apps for in-development technologies, or do something to make those new technologies (programming or hardware design). Doing this will tell you if you should study design and compsci (for the app development) or computer engineering/compsci (for the creating new technologies).

I’d be interested to hear your theories as to how augmented reality will heal psychological issues such as phobias and anxiety. I have my doubts, but I’m always happy to have my doubts challenged.

It's not quite that easy, it just means we can put people in virtual scenarios that aren't practical or possible to do in real life. So think of it more as an evolution of our current pancake training (pancake is the word we use to describe flat screens).

Phones have AR technology but there is no point of using ar on a phone since using the screen is more practical. The point of these ar glasses is actually to be the new phones of the future!

The issue with phone augmented reality is that you're looking through a tiny rectangle. Check out the Kura Gallium (www.kura.tech/). While it is expensive, it's able to cover most peoples' vision entirely, not block out light, and add on light even in sunlight. I've met the people and tried the prototypes, and I think they've really got something good here.

There is a little bit of false information here. Augmented reality is: a technology that superimposes a computer-generated image on a user's view of the real world, thus providing a composite view. You are calling many things in this video Augmented reality when they are Mixed Reality: the merging of real and virtual worlds to produce new environments and visualizations where physical and digital objects co-exist and interact in real time. So application on your phone (like Pokemon Go and Snapchat) are Mixed Reality because you are adding virtual objects to a video feed, while applications on a HoloLens or Google Glass are augmented reality because they are projected on top of the physical world. It bugs me that both of the examples you use to describe AR in the first 20 seconds are incorrect.

Actually, the google glass and Vusix Blade are both not AR, they are HUDs. AR is specifically technology to allow virtual spatial objects to be added on top of your vision, but the vusix blade and google glass have no ability to put objects in 3D space. And for the record, the magic leap was just the hololens 1 with a controller...

@happyending tsunami , since @Technobaboo is claiming to be an expert, it may be best to believe him. I just dabble in AR as I am trying to find a new path in life. However, I don't agree with Technobaboo's response. I don't think that a HUD is its own medium; A HUD could be implimented in AR, VR, or MR. (Many VR games utilize a HUD). I guess my argument lies in the fact that a HUD has Virtually Spacial Objects, all of the objects just happen to be spaced around the users head and within their line of sight (generally). Like I said though, I'm no expert today, but I hope to be someday.

No you see, the optical relays stimulate your neurons to produce lifelike images! (spoiler alert they made vision super complicated to explain). Honestly the way their tech works is a ton of tubes through a slab of glass that works like the Pepper's Ghost illusion. They all do actually, just not with a flat piece of glass.

Probably because most people tend to think of games when it comes to this stuff, so while Hololens and Vusix B;lade are the best, Magic Leap one will sell better because it's another "toy" for the kids to play with

I totally agree, I can't even see the virtual objects since my vision is blurry and uncorrectable by glasses. But when I saw the Kura Gallium (www.kura.tech/) prototypes it was literally sharper than real life to me. So yeah, take a look at those ones.

As an AR developer I have to say I think it has real potential. This video honestly shows off too much fantasy, but real progress is being made. Unfortunately all the companies have focused on making something 5 years off at least whereas there are tons of things AR glasses could be doing now to be better tools than flat monitors. Keep a lookout for it though!

Augmented reality is no substitute for imagination or intuition. It only can help you visualize and share your ideas as well as free up your brain to develop more ideas. So it is very very useful, and only a little boost for imagination and intuition.
