Did you know that the Microsoft Hololens can process terabytes of data /sec on the fly? Learn this and more in my latest video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hN2JYJmktqq9np8.html It combines all of the in-depth, recent information about the Hololens to give us a full picture. Feel free to share if you learned something new.

Chris Loyen I really don't think my statement was casual nor non sequitur. I'm not offended either . But I really do think that someone at the leading edge of computing has developed something that can pass the Turing test. It may be a while until it's in desk top size though.

That was by far the most comprehensive, most professional and most interesting technical presentation I've ever seen and I'm 70 with 50 years in tech. Something you might want to follow up with is an elaboration of the uses this tech can have in the enterprise environment. It is pretty clear from the small FOV that it will focus on utility, not entertainment. Yet.

It's crazy how, even though I'm 19 years old and grew up with ever changing technology, I can't believe we are in living in this era of such technological advances. Nowadays, technology "innovation" is barely changing the form factor of what we currently have. The Microsoft Hololens is a game-changer. Most probably it will be expensive as hell, but Microsoft is setting up the path for true innovation.

The biggest questions to me for a product like this are: 1: Who is the target demographic? Who want's AR? Who is willing to put on a plastic visor for that? 2: As it's wearable tech, will people not want to customize it? Isn't it as soon as you wear it, a piece of fashion?

I fell in love with the Hololens when I first saw it... and it is better than all PC's. Just being a little much to interested in it's design and capability I looked further into the Augmented world and I came across another Augmented design, that was better than the Hololens in every way bar one. The Augmented computer that I found is named the Meta2 Now the Meta2 has got better graphics, it has top notch Dolby speakers and the images know where everyday objects are, yet you can see everyday life and have the new way of passing things through E-mail. The new way is by passing by hand the object you wish in to another persons life no matter where they are in the world (from hand to hand) Now the down side of this amazing new piece of technology is you must have it connected to power at all times.... unlike the Hololens,, what can be without a source of power for up to three hours before needed another charge... Yet another up for the Meta2 is that you can carry round a power pack that can connect to the Meta2 and last up to 7 hours without needing to be recharged.... So for an extra 4 hour use of a brilliant design would you be put off from carrying a small backpack? I know that I wouldn't mind

the problem, if people think the hololens is good for gaming, they have another thing coming. i could see the absolute basic in gaming with these. even 5 years later, the hololens i see it as more of a productivity device. doctors architects artists. not gaming.

8:53 well, i don't think you should have exactly compared the hololens to the google glass. This is much more bulky and doesn't seem like something anyone would use all day, such as taking a walk outside. The glass on the other hand is much more light in comparison and isn't really meant for advanced holograms and fully interactive world. Its like comparing a giant 18" desktop replacement and a smaller 14" laptop. Sure, you could carry both, but do u=you really need all that power to just take notes on on such a behemoth? You can't exactly do heavy video editing and rendering on a 14" laptop either. They both have their own uses.

I love the idea of hololens so much!! In the near future , to see and interact with holograms , we do not need anything. Or maybe we could 3d print an object instantly. That is just my idea. In the future I will make a holographic projector which is similar to hololens and my ideas. A few months ago I thought of a name project holo. A few days later I was introduced with hololens! Since the name and the abilities of project holo and hololens are so similar, I decided to change the name.I need suggestions for names. So please help me! Anyways, nice video!Big thumbs up!!!

I like the VR devices , but to be honest I would prefer AR because there are alot of possibilities the Hololens. For people who LARPing, if this device can function as a IRL multiplayer device, imagine being able to cast a spell or something and be able to see the effect on someone and on the other person screen their HP be depleted. Or if your an fps fan, go to a huge field or even a closed area and have a gun fight/ sword fight with sticks that look like swords and have sounds and spark from clashing. Maybe you like solo thing fight with some 3d AI in your room, and since you can see stuff around you, you wont break stuff. Maybe your an house designer and you see something cool in a magazine, and they work with AR Tech and there is like a code bar next to it that allows a 3d model to pop out and you could place stuff around the house to see how it would come together. Or if you like platform/ open world games imagine turning your room into a level created by YOU and play it sort of like he showed in the commercial or have a character roam around your house jumping on your table. Maybe you have terrible allergies and cant have a animal and you want a dog, you could have a virtual dog, you may not be able to pet it but you could interact with it through 3d toys and feed and walk with it and hey at least you wont have to deal with it needing to use the bathroom and giving it bathes. You wont need a tv and you could walk away from it and hear it in the background with the spatial hearing or take with you. You could paint your room some way with it and read a book in a nice setting. Also Porn! (that all i can say, porn.) You could make a horror game out of your house. You could learn alot through holograms I mean imagine witnessing the signing of the declaration of independence or the assassination of Abraham Lincoln or Re-enacting a Civil war battle in class. Or 3D printing something for a Sci Vis class. How about you need help with something, you could have a technician skype you and help you with which wires you need to connect. Or read a recipe next to you as a hologram and cook. Set up your house where you can also use your headset to turn a light switch on in the hous without getting up. GASP! what if (just here me out.) WE COULD PLAY SIM CITY LIKE THE MINECRAFT DEMO! IM A GENIUS! We could play the xbox through streaming and also pc games as Windows 10 is supposed to be connected through all devices. have a tutor teach your child through skype allowing the to see what they're doing draw on their screen to show them what to do. Create a 3d car that you can drive around using an xbox controller. Play card game that turns into cool effects and watch characters fight, like Yugi-Oh or Pokemon, hell even Bakugan. And imagine playing Angry birds if thats still a thing. You could creat Pixel Art or just Art that you could place around the house just to admire. maybe you could learn what something is throuh an app that recognizes products. I know I typed alot but that is just the tip of the Iceberg! and thats the cool thing about it alot of 3rd party people have jumped on this intresting Idea and could become something of the norm as many people have mention no lag and as far as we've seen the objects were pretty static. But what im curious is how does the objects interact with moving areas like a door opening, does it move with the door? Can it be useable in an Active Area is the main question for me. I love the Oculus but i would buy this before the Oculus not saying I wouldn't get both. but i feel AR has many possibilities while the VR has only a few depending on how the Oculus Rift grows and also the same goes for th Hololens. Both to brilliant product are waiting for theyre next growth spurt.

Question, Do we really want this? As the decades go on, would we become dependent on this or similar devices and conversely, would we be crippled without it? Eventually, would this device or similar device be required and would we have to answer to it whether we wanted to or not? And if we refused to comply, would there be consequences?

All very clever. And perhaps extremely useful and enjoyable. Is it possible that the more dependent, the more engrossed in high tech we become, the less connected with nature, we may not just be using technology, might it also be the early days of technology using us?

Truth is: Headgear of this bulky-ness will never become mainstream for next few decades as a home consumer device. Especially if it only leads to doing the same thing in more complicated or fancier looking ways. Actual holograms in your living on the other hand will be in prpbly in every household once they are ready. This is maybe usefull for certain types of work fields but not for you and me, especially not for pure entertainment.

it's fun i will see your videos with the hololens on the wall of my room :) it's gonna be the greatest experience ever but i think that it's really look like the first computer : massive and not very clever and i think that in 20 years we will say " look at the hololens it's so big, so slow " but still i'm really enthousiastic

Another drawback is that you can't naturally focus and de-focus on virtual content. For those who are waiting for a true virtual retinal display experience, the big name in the game is Magic Leap.
