I love that the Proverbs 31 woman is clothed in fine linen and purple (not that Im about to wear purple anytime soon) as it implies that she was elegant and well dressed. My interpretation is that Godly women still want to be attractive to their husband / boyfriend while also being modest and respectful at the same time.

I dress tomboyish. I like the ruggedness of men's clothing. Do I still feel FEMININE ? Yes, very much so. I like wearing a bandanna in my hair. I like wearing earrings: , 'pearls', dragonflies, butterflies ... I like wearing garden gloves printed w floral motifs. I like wearing my own homemade vanilla 'perfume'. I like doing yardwork, gardening, and landscaping that I can manage. And I'm 70 years old.

@@sharoncrawford7192 That is why women started wearing trousers- for MOBILITY. All throughout history it was obscene to see a female's ankles. Peasant women did wear their skirts MAYBE to MID CALF. Anything past that and that woman was considered 'advertising'. Try to imagine doing field work in the 16, 17, 18 centuries with YARDS of fabric slapping around your legs preventing freedom of movement. A yard is 3 feet. Easily 3-5 yards was crammed into a waistband and ALL that yardage swamping about your legs. You have to plant, harvest, collect ,carry, heave or transport your efforts. Would you want your legs unhindered like a man? I know. I've made medieval garments! I recently met a 24yr old homeless gal who THINKS she's BINARY because she only wants to wear pants. And wearing pants means your a boy. We had a looong talk. I told her I use to be very athletic and still felt feminine on the inside. That I wear carpenter jeans because I do factory temp work and I NEED TO MOVE. And I like doing yardwork and gardening and I dress like a tomboy because I NEED TO MOVE. But I always FEEL like a woman, a female and touch up my tomboy look w feminine accessories: earrings. necklace w a dangling charm. fun bandanna to keep my hair out of my face. This young woman is SO CONFUSED w all this gender crap! I hope I can be a role model for her in some ways. God Bless ♥

Many clothing are sexual, they make them that way for attention. The low self esteemed don't always think right. If you have the holy spirit within you, then you won't dress unappreciated, nor act that way. What is on the inside will show up on the outside. Today many women are not modest, they can't train up there kids to dress modest due to there spiritual blindest as a parent. Low cut, too tight too short clothing. See thou it how the wome of the street and world dress. If we are born again spirit filled believers you won't buy things that are sexually unappreciated, unpleasant, unsure. You would be under the holy spirit when shopping and our daily living.

This video is very redemptive coming from a male perspective that encourages other males to be accountable for themselves while addressing the principles behind how women can be mistakenly viewed. This is the most balanced presentation I've seen on modesty and dress geared towards women...honestly. Spoken like a big brother. It's such a sensitive, sometimes triggering, and controversial topic. Thank you for your courage in "going there" and for handling it with such care. Sending it to a few friends....

The Holy Spirit is the best designer. He gently convicted me of certain things I used to wear like the really short tight shorts at the gym or the small cleavage I would leave on my work shirt. Now I even opt for more simple jewelry pieces. I find myself more elegant now. Spending time with God truly changes things from the inside out. Love this video. ❤

A former Christian woman friend criticized my chin length hair while telling me men like long hair pulled back in a ponytail 😐 if I had thick hair like her I might do that. She also made fun of my wearing Birkenstock's instead of sexy heels! I don't care to incite a man sexually. Besides, the Birkenstocks help with neuropathy. Too much judgement so we're no longer friends. Thank you for the male perspective Mark.

Do ur hair in a way that makes you look most attractive. However, stats have been taken to discover men prefer long hair visually, and they prefer smaller waist to hip ratio that they can see n observe in your clothing. (Experts took stats on this) You could buy a hair addition and use this with your hair styles when u will be around elegible men. It wd add to initial visual attraction.

The shape of our body can make choosing “the right” clothes more difficult. Curvy women or women who workout tend to show curves no matter what they wear. If we show less skin is often better but sometimes a pair of jeans and a simple shirt can show curves. It’s not easy being a woman. And it’s also hard not to wear short clothes in a country like Brazil (my country) where it’s hot almost the entire year.

@miami220 I used to also live in south Florida and I know what you mean, I saw women dressed more scantily than when I lived up north, even at church. I think the humidity and culture encourages minimal clothing. I really had to take a stand against giving into a more worldly look, but men do respect women more if they don’t show everything. One of my old friends who actually brought me closer to the lord, she kinda drifted after moving from Broward to south Miami. She has a very risqué Instagram account I recently stumbled across, I couldn’t believe it! So yes, we have to be aware if we are giving into culture and not dressing in respectful ways.glad you are focused on honoring God, it will bless you! 🌴🙏🏼💯

Thank you. I love watching these videos still as a married woman. One of many resources that keep me pointed in the right direction in my relationship as well as helping others. Even in marriage I've been confused at times knowing how to dress, how to divert wordly advances but also communicate my femininity to my husband and in my daily life. I think I've finally found the sweet spot of not falling into the frumpy trap you mentioned. I've been on both wrong ends before, dressing way too enticingly than appropriate, and then dressing almost masculinely to try to divert attention and began to wonder why I wasn't approached the same way as guys did other women. It used to be a pain point but now on the other end I understand. If you wish to get married your posture should be that you want to please your partner (your PARTNER, not every rando on the street) and display the intent of your heart. That means both rejecting worldly ways that diminish and hypersexualize our bodies, and yet displaying a delight in the particular image that God fashioned you in as opposed to the masculine. It can feel frustrating at times, but it's worth it to dive in and seek God with all your heart on the matter. He will make things simple. And I even had to dispel ideas the media puts out of what's attractive to a man. The things that attract my husband most to me are so, so far from lingerie and mini skirts. It baffled me at first, but honestly it's sad we are so misguided. I'm grateful for the godly love and desire God puts in a real man's heart
@KJ-lb4tj

So what on earth are the things that attract your husband to you? You were either too frumpy or too hypersexualised, trying to display a delight in the way God fashioned you, avoiding being too masculine, dispelling ideas from media, and God kept it simple. It's not miniskirts and lingerie and it baffled you at first that you were so misguided. I'm not any more enlightened about what perfect clothing your 'real man' likes??
@kennethfok
@kennethfok 4 ай бұрын
If you say lingerie and mini skirts attract your husband, I would say it’s perfectly normal. Men are wired in such a way because the lust and attraction is what causes their sexual arousal and we all know in biology how it works for sexual intercourse to take place. That is why God created a marriage relationship as something sacred for man and woman to enjoy and that is why there is a need for modest dressing everywhere else with the exception of being with your spouse in the bedroom.

It’s funny because since I was a young girl I have been very modest and have dressed accordingly all of my life. Now I am 5’9” and weigh in at 137 pounds which means that I am of average weight but relatively tall. As a result of my build I frequently wore feminine suits and blouses because it worked for me. The suits may have had a skirt or pants. Weirdly I noticed very early on that men were drawn to me despite my modest appearance. When going out for the evening I wore silky pajama suits or long sleeved dresses that didn’t hug every inch of my figure. My mom used to tell me to leave much to the imagination. Young women today need to understand that this is very true. What’s more, they respect you, don’t push the boundaries, and take time to get to know you.

Going to church I remember a few things. Why am I going? To worship. My focus is on God. Who is God? The Alpha and the Omega. The Creator. He is a King. I dress to not be a distraction to as few people as possible. I dress in my very best because I am going before royalty. The King of Kings. What I tend to wear: Plain clothing, nothing short, tight, shiny. Nothing that is unclean or stained. Nothing that shows off allegiance to sports, company, job etc. Nothing that speaks to the amount of money spent on an item of clothing, no labels. I don’t wear any jewelry that is ostentatious. In my time in the military we wore stud earrings. Gold, Silver or Pearls. And a simple wedding band, watch, single necklace. Conservative hairstyles. And simple neutral tone or skin tones for make-up. Again nothing shiny or over the top. No lash extensions, red lipstick or lip gloss. Hemlines at the knee and to the ankle. No exposed arms to any blouse, if my top has no sleeves I add a thin sweater set or blazer. If I had to describe what I looked like a Bree Van de Kamp type. I don’t think of men, attracting or repelling, they don’t cross my mind. I do think of women and little girls in particular. I don’t wear things that will cause a child to want them. Example: shiny stuff like diamond earrings. But that is me. My thought process when I dress to attend church. Or Christian functions. At home it’s jeans and t-shirts, sweatshirts. At work it’s a uniform so I don’t have to think about that. For an event like a wedding or party, BBQ etc. I follow the lead of the hostess but tone it down if she’s not as conservative as I am. I don’t wear a swimsuit anywhere without my husband around. We normally go out on a boat or spa at home not around lots of people.

Very well put because there's different things to consider, like body shape. There are things perfectly fine for some girls to wear that I can't because I am very curvy in certain places. I keep those things in mind when shopping, or I can slightly alter an outfit to be more appropriate. But I also ask my brother about outfits I'm on the fence about. He's really good at gently telling me if I shouldn't wear it 😂.

I would run a million miles from incredible arrogance, narrow-mindedness and judgemental criticism. Scripture is very clear on why do you see the speck in your neighbour's eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye? This says so much about the internal truth and justice of your heart.

Sometimes women dress in a particular way because of society values, which sometimes these values are distorted. So, if a man is interested in a woman, instead of rejecting her straight away because of the way she is dressed, he could just talk to her about it nicely so she can understand why it's better to dress in a certain way. She may have some good qualities which other women dressed in an acceptable 'Christian' way may not have. Then, it's up to her to understand and self-improve or reject the advise/suggestion.

Usually if you’re seeking a husband you should start preparing and seeking God’s counsel for that. Don’t turn to men to tell you how to dress no. Talks to God and pray. I have been in God’s counsel since last October when he revealed to me why I’m not married. I was in an abusive relationship with a narcissist. He revealed everything to me about myself. Lately now that I left the relationship and it’s just me and God, he revealed to me about my appearance not just fashion just overall.

i'm going to turn 70 this yr. so keep in mind, please, and remember that's where i'm coming from. when i worked it was in a law firm and, prior to that, in other offices. i'm 5'2" and at the time was less than 100 lbs. i wore dresses and suits that fit my tiny figure well, and i wore other boho outfits with pants. with all of these i usually wore 3" heels. even after the '70's i still loved a somewhat hippie look and still, as old as i am, i try to find bell bottoms. until i started gaining weight at around 50 (and at that age most people still guessed my age at 30 or so), i still liked 'vintage' clothes from my younger days. also, since i hadn't gained weight i still wore my clothes i had kept. that meant business suits, long flowing dresses, hip hugger bell bottoms, crop tops, and shorts. see-thru lace tops had matching camisoles underneath and were mostly business attire. now, as old as i am and no longer working, as well as having gained quite a bit of weight, i go for comfort and wear jeans and t's. beginning around age 18 i started going to a church where i always wore jeans, and that's what i still wear. finally, as old as i am now and with my weight gain, i've lost most of my feeling of feminity, but when i was younger i used good use of make-up, conservatively, to accentuate good facial points and minimize the bad. also, i loved to hunt and fish and did so with a couple of guys i dated, but even in that attire (which i also wore at other times) i was able to feel feminine.

Good topic thank you for your thoughts! It’s so true and it’s so important for us ladies to be thoughtful and considerate of how we present ourselves. Not only in day to day shopping, but especially at church where men, married couples and young children are going to have a relationship with God and get closer to God to repent and at work where they’re forced to go and make a living for their family. Womens dress and have they behave absolutely have an effect on men. If he sees a woman in short shorts up to her behind or mini skirts and high heals he will notice and he will at minimum struggle to not look and lust. It’s also not practical. I live in Florida a hot state too so I get it sometimes it’s unavoidable especially at the beach. But seriously I wear jeans and long sleeve shirts a lot, long or knee length dresses are beautiful and more feminine than mini skirts and just as cool. Longer shorts are just as comfy and cute but please not at church or work! 55-85% of men and Christian men, and even pastors are in porn addiction and many more are fighting to refrain from it. How do you think the husbands and wives feel when they go to work or Church to try to get the help they desperately need for their marriage that’s been plagued by lust and porn addiction only to see that women in church are wearing shirt shirts and miniskirts? Yes lust is a man’s fault and he needs to do the work no matter what! But also how we dress and present ourselves is our fault and it’s up to us to find that balance between conservative, modest (covering chest, thighs, belly) especially at church and work! It just is not fair and not godly either. Love your sisters and brothers and God enough to consider others and respect them, have a true fear of the Lord.❤

I live in New York and have had different seasons of fashion trends. When you dress conservatively you get no attention. Note: there are very, very few authentic Christian men. When they see a lady, they still interact with her like she was a babe or fast woman. Sadly, the provocative women of all ages have made it so difficult for women who are ladies.
