1) WRONG CAR - yes, it can be, that You have simply bought a wrong car which is completely not suitable for your goal. Quite some people start building something to drive in race tracks from a car which they already have or think it would be a cool tracktool without giving it too much thought...
2) MODIFY, THEN REPAIR - I know I know, it's such a pleasure to start upgrading your car - but thats a huge mistake! And usually quite expensive... Fix your car, make it as good as it can be and just then start dropping mods in.
3) NO MONEY - NO HONEY - Cars is an expensive hobby, deal with it. Do some maths before, so you could really enjoy your BMW M3 or Citroen C1 at the track.
4) BUILDING IN STAGES - Your last stage probably includes roll cage? So you put performance mods in front of safety... Do your project car in one big stage - you will save money, save time and have much better car to race!
5) NO PLAN - Make a good plan before anything, include all racing parts, custom jobs, prices and car availability upfront. With a good plan You will build your project car with an ease!

The biggest mistake I did was not being sure about what exactly I wanted/was expecting from the car, and like you said, We throw a lot of money away we when need to buy things twice. But thats life, we learn from mistakes, we evolve and do better next time, I was truly inspired by you guys to build my own E36 Track car :)

To be honest building in stages can be a good way to feel incremental upgrades. Also it gives you the opportunity to run the car and start learning. Every build gets changed, so if you build once you might do it afterwards.

I do agree with you, stages have benefits too. Just most of the time these are in the wrong order. Repairs -> Safety -> suspension/brakes -> performance would be my order of stages.

N52, I think N53 were only B30 - just downgraded and called 325i

@@Ringfreaks Thanks for the info! How about you make another video of further details about the 325i platform and how to make the n52 competitive. I'm reading intake from z4 etc.. which can increase up to ~50hp, also ring specific upgrades cooling etc..?

Preparation of car by myself seems a mistake itself for me. I'd rather go for purchasing already prepared one. This way also seems cheaper.

Some points not only useful for the race car building but also rebuilding wrecked cars for regular use. Because jumping on the wrecked project car without planing or rushing it by rebuilding it in stages can lead you to a hole.
