What are the most common mistakes when trying to learn the Single Plane Golf Swing? You might be surprised that it mostly comes down to making sure you learn the swing in the correct order.
In this video, I return to the golf course to discuss the Five most common mistakes that Single Plane Golfers make.
Single Plane Golf Swing Book: SPS Book: amzn.to/41KdtA7
About the Single Plane Golf Swing:
The Single Plane golf swing is not a quick fix golf technique. It is a system, beginning at address, that simplifies the most important moment of the golf swing - impact.
Starting at address on two planes where the arms hang straight down at address, the Conventional golf swing is complicated. Because the arms are hanging straight down, a conventional golfer must lift the body into impact creating stress on the back.
This upward movement to accommodate the two planes is unnecessary.
The Single Plane Golf swing simplifies the golf swing by eliminating the need for the upward movement by starting and impacting on the same plane.

To find out more about the Single Plane Swing, I have created a "Single Plane Pocket coach" that you can take to the range, or course, and learn the fundamentals of the swing. Find out more about the Pocket Coach here: SwingPocketGuide.com

Thanks so much Todd & Tim for this channel. I've learned a lot over the past year and a half after deciding to completely change my approach to the golf swing by developing the Single Plane Swing. I just got back into golf about 3 years ago after playing very little over the previous 10 years while my 4 kids were being raised. I will have to say that switching to the single plane swing has made inconsistent rounds of golf much more consistent and fun! I used to score in the low to mid 90's, basically I would shout to play bogie golf and mix in a par once in a while for fun. Well after watching a lot of Graves Golf teaching videos, practicing, watching more videos, playing and watching more videos, I'm now consistently scoring 80 - 85, with had several rounds having a chance to shoot 78 - 79 going into last hole. My really good friends that I play golf with once or twice a year out in AZ, were in shock when we played about a month ago in Phoenix area. All of them said my swing looks great, consistent ball striking and it's the best golf they've ever seen me play. Now they're asking me for strokes. Anyways, just wanted say the Single Plane Swing is the best and thanks again for all you guys do to help average golfers play better and have fun on the course. Next goal is to consistently shoot in the 70's.

Started with “Natural Golf” years ago. Herniated 2 lumbar discs. When I eventually was able to swing a club again (at least a year), I was turned onto the single plane swing. Much easier on the lower back. Try it! The tilt at setup guides the entire swing.

When I received my clubs with the Grave Golf grips, I got in the habit of setting my hands to match the markings on the grip before taking my address. With experience and the constant reminders from Todd, I have now realized that it is still better to take the approach setup first and then the grip, using the markings as a guide.

A few questions. How much tilt? How, exactly, do you get that part right? How would you describe your left foot, right foot weight distribution?
@ToddGravesGolf
@ToddGravesGolf Жыл бұрын
16 degrees of sidebend. Between 40 and 50 degrees of forward bend - At Address / 50'50 weight at address. I use video to get it right - Match the Model. Don't guess.

Todd, I have watched a lot of your videos but am still a bit confused about the width of stance on shots and distance from ball on driver and irons. Are there any markers I can use to get these correct. I know I am still, unconsciously, bringing in habits from the conventional swing.

I def was a victim of mixing mechanics. Had the interlock grip and kept slicing everything. Switched to overlap recently and I believe that gives me a better ability to keep my right arm/elbow below my left through my swing. Great stuff once again!

One swing tip that helped me is to make sure the back swing with the tilt has the club come back and through at or below the shoulders. Is that correct? Flat, not at all steep?

I have played golf for40+ years. My former home course used to have a "greens keeper" that would paint the greens before tournaments and during droughts. It looked terrible. I have never seen painted early-spring fairways and fringe before, however!! Good grief!

The course designers may place the tee box offline, but why doesn't the ground crew at least place the tee markers square to the fairway?

Overseeding the course in the winter causes problem in the spring. So it is better to paint the dormant grass so it does not compete with another grass when it starts growing again.

I get that you're trying to increase the quality of the videos and do this whole Hollywood thing with the camera person moving and walking with the Todd. But for something like golf instruction videos this is not a good thing. It's hard to watch and frankly pretty annoying. Less is more in this case. Less camera movement please.
