What I always hate about trailers is how towards the end, they do this rapid flashing of scenes from the movie accompanied by this sort-of screeching sound, probably a girl screaming, an explosion, and other stuff right before the screen goes black and the title of the movie scrolls in, followed by either a flying sound or that bass thingie from Inception.

This. Or the one liner that's supposed to make everyone chuckle right at the end, pulled out of context and may or may not be in the actual movie.

+Definitely Catherine British vs American accents are the least troubling thing going on in Hollywood casting departments. The typical Hollywood movie lead actor is white, male, 20-something, often stereotypically attractive but sometimes not at all, and American-accented. It's like a list of list of things you had to be in order to vote in America in 1776. This is a small percentage of America. And these kids usually can't even act, which makes their extreme similarity seem like the sole reason that they got the job. If you're a woman, you either need to be very TV-attractive or white. Either one. Our movie industry makes us look like one big KKK rally.

Every single trailer I see nowadays abuses the zimmerman horn or drumexplosion or whatever it is like a red-headed step child. I've actually taken to counting how many times I hear that sound per trailer. I get into the dozens for most of them. The end result is, they all sound identical to one another. One day, I want to make a trailer for a movie that completely defies normal trailer tropes. A trailer that is just nothing at all like people expect. Remember Hitchcock's Psycho trailer? That thing where he just showed you around the set? That was so weird that it was kind of interesting. Or how about another one from the WatchMojo list? Alien. If you want tension, there's no better trailer than that one. We're to a point at which audiences would be BLOWN AWAY if only someone could think outside of the box with a movie trailer. Stop abusing the BWAAAAAAH Inception noise at every turn, stop making *every single thing* in the trailer sound like a matter of life and death importance (followed swiftly by a BWAAAAAAH), and just... give us something different. Maybe something quiet? Maybe something subtle? Maybe something that doesn't give away all the best shots and lines?

@wolfofthewest80198 жыл бұрын
Just because I'm a nerd, I have to point out that in the two jumps by Captain America you cite there is an actual difference. Cap uses a parachute when dropping into a city and therefore landing on concrete, and Cap doesn't use a chute when jumping over water. This is because Cap can survive the water landing with a dive, but can't dive through concrete.
@ionlymadethistoleavecoment17238 жыл бұрын

+Wolf of the West You should also note that water isn't soft, diving out of a aircraft and landing on water will have the same impact on landing as if he had fell on concrete. Hell, it's worse because if he somehow survived, he'd just drown due to his broken bones. Although Hollywood does have a history of ignoring that little triviality.

@that1kidvincent8 жыл бұрын
basically the same shit. ocean becomes hard as fuck when you jump from a certain height.
@danielsmith50887 жыл бұрын
Not true. Water has the same consistency regardless of the speed of an object falling into it. As long as his entry technique were good, the only difference between cliff diving and airplane diving is the depth to which Cap would descend upon entry. And that depth would be finite, once he achieved the altitude required to reach terminal velocity. Actually, of more concern would be that he's attempting it with full gear and a shield on his back (there's a reason cliff divers are basically naked). With the cowl, he'd really have to go in head first or it would probably get ripped clean off (the cowl, not necessarily his head). And he'd really have to watch his entry angle or any space between the shield and his back could certainly cause enough resistance to dislocate a shoulder or at the very least give him a concussion. Of course, Cap is much sturdier than the average person and if a fall from 10-12 stories onto pavement, using his shield and one shoulder as a buffer didn't do it, he'd most likely be fine.
@willemverheij34129 жыл бұрын
It's a shame they are all pretty much the same.. It's like all trailers are made by the same person. No one dares to be different anymore it seems, daring to be even slightly different. Last trailer I remember leaving an impression was a Watchmen trailer, the one with the smashing pumpkins soundtrack. I did not really know anything about the movie yet aside from a short article and it really did leave an impression. I had so many questions about what I saw on screen, while not knowing much about the plot I just knew it would be unlike any other superhero movie and that I had to see it. Was not disappointed.

or the new ten cloverfield lane. a good trailer is one like this. in my book, character meets alien. okay. you have a close-up of the characters eyes. he falls asleep, and wakes up. you see him get up, and look around. he seems unsettled but still pretty normal. he walks out slowly, asking hello. over his shoulder the camera sees something sitting there. all you hear is "hello." boom. epic trailer.

Rundori Its called terminal velocity when you're going so fast the water turns to cement when you fall out of a plane without a parachute I really doubt him not belly flopping into the water will slow him down enough not to die from it which is what usually happens.
@Rundori9 жыл бұрын
David Brace The terminal velocity of an object is the velocity of the object when the sum of the drag force (Fd) and buoyancy equals the downward force of gravity (FG) acting on the object. Since the net force on the object is zero, the object has zero acceleration.
@Rundori9 жыл бұрын

I don't really care about most of this stuff. There are only so much ways of putting a trailer together. The only thing that really bugs me about movie trailers lately is that they just reveal too much of the plot. We get teasers, we get trailers, we get special extended trailers, we get the first ten minutes of the movie a month before it comes out... and even if you are strong enough not to watch them, you can be sure that the rest of the internet will and doesn't care the least about spoiler warnings. One of the best trailers I've ever seen is the Star Wars VII trailer. That one gave us an intense feeling and excitement for the movie while letting us guess. THIS is how it's done.

@TrueGamer1819 жыл бұрын
Well to be honest about the "drum-splosions," they sound awesome. Music and noise in general have a curious effect on us humans. When we see something, anything, and hear a sound like that, our brains go "holy shit, I don't know what this is, but it's AWESOME!" It also promptly raises our heartrate to illustrate its point. Of course, overexposure can eventually dull anything down...
@icbarefoot9 жыл бұрын
I think were at the point of overexposure. When I watch trailers I feel like the audience is being told when to get excited, laugh, etc. I guess that's kind of the point, I just see the strings too much. Other people seem to lap it up though.
@JunKazamaFan10 жыл бұрын
"Drumsplosion", eh? Well, it's good to have a term for that overused sound effect. Can't complain about the Inception noises, though, those are pretty cool!
@MoronicChunk110 жыл бұрын
captain america should actually be able to survive jumping out of a plane w/o a parachute depending on how they do it. if they have him just land on his face and shrug it off then yes that is beyond his power set. but within the marvel universe's set of laws his shield absorbs 100% of all vibrations so if he uses his shield to absorb the impact of the shock it would be like just jumping off your bed. sounds hard to believe but look up the facts on proto-adamantium within the context of the marvel universe. theres a reason why even thor's mjolnir couldnt dent it in the avengers.
@MrGhaundan10 жыл бұрын
How does that stop his body from hitting the shield/ground and crushing him into paste? It aborbs vibrations, it doesn't stop gravity affecting the person holding it.
@jaybarou10 жыл бұрын
MrGhaundan I'm not a scientist, but I guess the shield is made of Vivranium on both sides, so it would absorb the impact force of the ground and the opposing impact force of a body, right?
@MrGhaundan10 жыл бұрын
The bullets that hit the shield are flattened, right? Force goes both ways, the shield will aborb the downward impact into itself. He himself however will crunch up into the shield as he goes from terminal velocity to 0 in 0 seconds flat.

The thinking in the case of Captain America is probably that in Avengers he's jumping out over land - and in CA2 he's diving into the ocean. Actually, considering the personnel that the facilities in the Jurassic Park franchise would need to operate and remain in operation (maintenance crews, electricians, the scientists, decorators, etc.), the total death for both islands when the dinosaurs escaped is probably well in the hundreds. Slight oversight guys, slight oversight.
@wx_dewey9 жыл бұрын
The park was designed to be managed/run by a minimal staff in the control room. When the storm impacted the park, almost all of the staff had already returned to the mainland via the ship - mentioned over loudspeaker and during Nedry's phone conversation asking for more time. As for Site B, the island was abandoned, and the animals were released with the assumption that the Lysine deficiency would kill them all off.
@aurenkleige9 жыл бұрын
Dwight Blanche It may have been Designed that way, but most things do not go according to design. Although, sure, it is possible that most of them escaped when the storm hit, but I'm sure that some had to stay behind for one reason or another. Then there's also accidental deaths from handling the dinosaurs' transport to the island itself or to other parts of the island. If I remember correctly, one of the very first scenes of one of the three movies is the transport of one of the said dinosaurs and one of the moving crew gets his arm, if not his whole body, eaten.

In defense of Robocop (which I haven't seen yet), they used the same musical cue to tie the events together. Just by seeing what he showed in the clip you can tell that the medical tubing stuff was what was saving the guy who got shot thus turning him into Robocop. I wish there were more inventive trailers, because I would probably see the movie just based on the fact that the marketing campaign broke formula. Think of all the trailers that went down in history, like Dr Strangelove, which used its ludicrous plot and hilarious sporadic snippets of lines to create a comedic trailer with plenty of mystery surrounding it, and yet it told you exactly what kind of movie it is, or Psycho, which at first seemed like a strange little tour of a house with your weird uncle Alfred, and it turned into the scene of murders that nearly made Hitchcock throw up.

We see shots of a city from up in the sky, it's a boring locale and a helicopter flies by. *Black* Screen with a famous name, we can expect, some more of the same

Hollywood has a very specific formula that they almost never deviate from. That's why we never seen anything anymore that we haven't seen a 100 times before.

I kinda thought they didn't give the Captain a parachute in his own movie because if you see the bloopers to Avenger's, Chris Evans kinda had a hard time getting the parachute over his costume. XP

The first time Captain America jumps out of the plane, it is into water. The second time, he is jumping on to land. Still hard to believe, but less of a mistake than it seems.

So, this video should be renamed 5 not so bizarre things that a few movies have in common...sometimes, but only a little bit.

What about fading to black over and over again every second throughout the entire trailer while combining it with the drumsplosion.

Snape was NOT AN ANTAGONIST! He had resentment towards Harry because Snape was always in love with Harry's mother, and hints were made throughout the series that Harry's father had mistreated Snape. Snape's spiritual form, a Doe, matched Harry's Mother's spiritual form. Harry is the son that Snape never had.
