As a 72yr old grandmother and a camper of many years, I can't buy any camper without a bathroom or fridge. I'd also hate to have an outside kitchen like the teardrop. Imagine waking up in the morning and it's raining. You'd get wet whilst making a cup of coffee !!!

Having been trapped in a very small camper for four days by an ice storm, I would not want to be in ANYthing that wasn't well-insulated and that I couldn't stand up in. Nor would I want to walk around in a crouch. I noticed no one gives much consideration to bad weather, which can destroy one of those trendy new "origami" type structures in five seconds. While staying at a lava field in NM, we experienced winds so strong we said to hell with the camper and slept in the truck cab for safety. As for this selection, once you're up to 17 feet, you have much better choices than those shown here. Grandma doesn't have to do without basic comfort and a toilet.

Many thanks for your awesome video! I bought an "end-of-season" 1992 25 foot "Shasta" 5th wheel, marked down from $18,000 to $10,000. I lived in it for a year, then traded it in on a 1992 22 foot "Itasca MicroSpirit" Class C, which had been sitting on the dealer's lot for over a year. It was marked down from $32,500 to $25,000. Took it cross country twice, but then had to sell it when I was laid off from my job in 1998. The following year, I purchased a used (aka VERY USED!) 1986 "Winnebago LeSharo", which needed loads of work. UGH!!! Kept it a couple of years. The big (aka HUGE!) expenditures came in 2006. At the January RV show, I jumped at the chance of buying my very first "Silver Twinkie", a 22 foot "AIrstream CCD", but had no tow vehicle. It was discounted from $47,000 to $40,000. In October, I decided to trade that in on a 22 foot "Airstream Parkway" Class B. Unfortunately, it was well over $90,000 ( 😱 ), and after putting $5,000 "down" and agreeing to pay $809.43 per month FOR TWENTY YEARS, I lost my job. Somehow, through foolish credit card advances, I continued to pay on the monthly loan...for about 2 years. Then the advances ran out, and so did my luck. The repo guy showed up at my door on January 16, 2008 at 9:15am, and took my lovely motorhome... 😞 To add insult to injury, repo guy never turned my license plates back in to the DMV, so my town sent me a bill for $2,400 in property taxes. Furthermore, they actually refused to accept the $162 tax on my decade old "Mitsubishi Mirage". That caused them to suspend my registration. Shortly thereafter, sitting at a traffic light, a police officer pulled up, removed my license plates, had my car towed and impounded, and left me standing miles from home. Apparently, after 30 days, they auctioned it off!!! 😡

Adding a pop up screen room to any of these small trailers would drastically improve the living space. Also could do a pop up with a small cassette toilet as well. And I love an outdoor shower. I have mobility issues and I think with additional space like a screen room, these could work.

I owned an Aliner S.L. It also has storage space under the bunk at the corner (must lift cushion to access) and under the benches. This model has no need for propane since it does not have a stove. We used an electric one. Also, had a Coleman one that we used outside with propane bottles. This was a great starter camper for us. Will not be able to camp 😞 this year since we had to sell it. Hopefully, will be back at it in 2022 with a Casita Travel Trailer (molded fiberglass camper). It offers a spacious wet bath 😉

Course it's a tight fit to sit on the toilet and not clock your head, and privacy is non existent. It's really for single campers who camp in the middle of nowhere, and don't want to set the toilet outside in a portapotty tent. FYI, there are bathroom pop up tents where you can set up showers and toilets and just stand up change clothes for people who use those cute little teardrops that are basically beds with kitchens.

The Luna Rover is my favourite that you showcased! Yes it’s a bed on wheels, but you have a table and two seats at the window, (what’s the weight rating for those seats), you can easily leave a set of cushions at home, and have a single bed in the middle for sleeping, That would give you room for a very small port-a-potty that can easily be hidden in those seats. (Large coffee can, kitchen liner, and kitty litter is a simple camp toilet for those middle of the night emergencies.).

The problem with most teardrops is in most there is some crawling involved, the elderly like just about people of any age do not want to be forced to crawl, the only difference is alot of elderly would find this too painful and not just elderly, there are younger people with health problems that would find it problematic also. The funny thing is as a example let's use the shortest red one but it goes for others also, you point out the t.v., you mentioned a radio in some and air conditioner, it would be nice if they had remotes. You never mentioned if they had one, but say you were laying in the red one like you did and wanted to watch t.v. every time you wanted to change the channel,let's face facts that would get really annoying, really fast, I know your looking for your mother in-law ,so I didn't catch her size or health but there are a awful lot of folks that would find most of them unacceptable. Speaking as a person with elderly parents and in-laws none of them want to get crawl out of teardrop in the middle of night and hope they make it to the bathroom. Very informative video,but it left me more up in the air for a teardrop myself. I do feel though that some if not most are just a bed with a a.c.unit (very important in Florida,where I live also) but I feel they are almost all of them way overpriced for the size and lack of bathroom. Great video can't wait for part two.

Great video. I could never sleep in that unless I am camping. I am a full-time nomad since August 2020 in a 2014 Toyota RAV4 which I converted it into a mobile bedroom during the night and a work vehicle during the day to support my lifestyle. Have you thought about a vehicle as a bedroom at night?

If you can't stand up in it, you are going to be stooping over & getting a sore back. After studying the subject of tiny campers, I've decided to go with a cabin tent. They make 'instant' tents now that one person can put up in a minute. Cabin tent that you can stand up in...Cot for sleeping...and portable camp toilet = Glamping. And cheaper than these trailers.

How come there is not many 13ft campers? Scamp is the only one now. Cassiata and Ascape had them but stopped. The geopro was 14ft but they stopped making that. I want a small camper for me and my dog. I also want stand in it. May go with a scamp if I cant find a 13ft.

No, pods, I liked the camper that was slightly close for weight. Also I am 68 & there is no way I could just crawl around in those.

Show me some more like the first. My husband is 6’2”. We got to have both air conditioning and heat. Live in Texas! Have only our Nissan SUV. So trying to find something 2500 (or less is better) to pull. See what you can come up with! Please? I’ll be waiting 😃!!!

If you have a generator.
@laura-ann.0726
@laura-ann.0726 Жыл бұрын
@@2KrazyKampers - I'd add, a generator with at least 4.5 kw output. Smaller units like the Champion 2500 and Honda EU 2200's don't have enough capacity to run an a/c unit. Also, the ratings on generators can be misleading: for example, the Champion 2,500 watt dual-fuel generator can provide "surge" power up to 2,500 watts for a few seconds, but the inverter can only provide "continuous" power up to 1,800 watts on gasoline, or 1,600 watts on propane. I tried to use an L1 EVSE charger, which draws 1,300 watts, and it popped the breaker on my Champion 2500. If the generator couldn't keep up with a 1,300 watt EV charger, it certainly couldn't run an RV air conditioner. Most small generators are "inverter" types, and it's not the alternator that's the weak point, it's the inverter. You overload or overheat the inverter, and burn it out, and you're done. Non-inverter generators have less voltage and frequency stability, but they're better able to tolerate heavy loads without burning out critical components.

I don't think the video mentioned what kind of tow vehicle Grandma was going to use. If she has at least a pickup or SUV with a 2500 pound or greater tow rating, any of the smaller campers in this video would be okay, but if she just has a compact car, I would hesitate to pull the bigger or taller campers with it, even if it's rated to tow 2,000 pounds.
