@@ZeldaGuy12345 Did you really come to the comment section, thought about this comment, wrote this comment, read it over, and you never once thought "maybe I'm being ridiculous?" "Maybe i shouldn't use my hatred towards Vtubers to not only insult their fanbase but downplay the talented developers efforts to create a fun and balanced game". Then again what even is a "Simp" in this case. Supporting a content creator? If you like Bubi and you donate to him are you considered a "Simp". If you're a fan of ironmouse and subscribe to her are you suddenly a "Simp". Just because people enjoy content and see the hard work that creators are putting in (therefore making them decide to support them) doesn't suddenly make them a "Simp".

@@ZeldaGuy12345you're going way off the handle here for no reason friend, calm down a little bit. Enjoying something is not a mental illness. Delving too deep, and centralising your life around it is very harmful yes. But just enjoying a streamer or such is not mental illness simply because of how said streamer presents themselves. You need to calm down and think out what you're saying, you might get more agreeable responses if you didn't act so...I don't know what word to attribute to it, high and mighty? Holier then thou? Another really cool thing about Tough Love Arena is that it has a built in modding tool for making custom characters. You can't upload custom sprites yet (at least not without a workaround) but I've seen some really cool stuff made with just the base sprites. Garlic with air combos, recreations of characters from other fighting games, basically anything is possible

@FishDrinkLightGreen 10 ай бұрын
As someone who recently got into skullgirls, I can tell you this. It is well worth the effort to learn to play it. As for the tutorials, admittedly they're pretty daunting, but I'd recommend finishing chapter 2 and stopping there until you have a better grasp of the game's basic mechanics. Instead, you should mess around in training some and practice a character that you like. You should also find a friend who is relatively new to the game to play with, because playing against a real player will help you more than anything. You'll feel clueless at first, but you get good fast, and there is not a more satisfying game to pull off cool shit in in my opinion.

@@povertyeditor4898 Yeah finding someone your own skill level is difficult (don't go online cause everyone there is a fucking god at the game). If you're new, just ask a friend, who may or may not have experience playing fighting games, to buy the game so that you are both at similar skill levels and are both getting better at the same time.

It occurs to me, you'd be the perfect guy to ask about this. I have been sort of getting into fighting games - largely Strive and SF6 - the last year and been having a lot of fun, but it seems like most online communities are US based, and I'm struggling to find entry level tourneys and such in EU timezones. Would that maybe be a fun video for the future, showing off the various tournaments and communities available to different regions (and big games) around the world?

Also funny/wholesome story about Them Fighting Herds: It uses the same engine as Skullgirls. When its kickstarter launched, MikeZ (skullgirls lead dev at the time) stepped in and said he'd give them his homemade engine, that was created for Skullgirls, to develop the game on. Nedless to say, the kickstarter was succesful and TFH was developed with the Z-engine, much to the devs joy because, while passionate, were a bit new to the field, so having such an engine to work with from the start was super impactful to them.

While not a traditional fighting, I gotta push Samurai Gunn 2 onto the radar. I downloaded the free beta version of Your Only Move is Hustle and HOOOOLY that game’s great. A traditional fighting game it is not, but it’s a fantastic adaptation of a Smash-style fighting game in a turn-based format. It’s odd for the first few matches, but then it’s TONS of fun. The beta is a bit old and doesn’t have the same content as the full game, but it’s still the same game to the point that there’s CROSSPLAY between the beta and full release. Even in single player it’s fun just wailing on a dummy because of how easy it is to get some of the coolest combos you’ll ever see in any FG ever. And if the beta doesn’t have enough content for you, the full game is $5 on Steam and has FULL WORKSHOP SUPPORT meaning you have infinite potential for new characters via mods. In most cases I’d probably recommend an actual fighting game over Hustle, but DANG is Hustle a ton of fun.

Great list, though I'd also like to give a shoutout to the two games that basically started the modern free-to-play fighting game model: Killer Instinct 2013 and Dead or Alive 5/6. KI has great netcode and a fast-paced combat system, and also has weekly free character rotations. Plus, it was recently announced that they're gonna resume updating the game with a balance patch later this year. It's also pretty easy to find matches in. DOA5/6 unfortunately can't say the same about its netcode due to being from "the before times", but the base gameplay of the series is imo some of the most fun and accessible in the genre. Both 5 and 6 have free to play versions, and I'd say it's definitely one of the most perfect games for someone who wants to get into fighting games, as most characters are easy to pick up, but there's lots of depth in both movesets and the game's mechanics. While it's definitely on the nicher side, you can usually find a few people on, and recently Xtreme Fighters Showdown has begun hosting monthly tournaments for both games on PS4 and PC. Also Granblue Rising is gonna do the same thing

Coming from someone who just enjoys fighting games, I understand zero references that haven't been explained by my brother who watches their channels. However, the stuff is still funny to someone like me who doesn't watch any of these people, and it's easy to learn. Not mentioned in this video are the single player Virtual Frontier and Arcade modes. They are really fun. Coming from someone who doesn't watch vtubers, I found this game to be really fun. This video is already a bit dated, since they recently added Ollie to the game(her supermove is hilarious). There are characters for all playstyles in the game. What he's complaining about with Korone are problems I encounter with Coco: Our mains perform poorly against those character types. Please go try it for yourself, the creators put a lot of effort into making and balancing the game, and it truly is a lot of fun even for people who don't understand the references.

I have two game suggestions, one paid and one free. The first one is Them's Fightin' Herds! What started as a My Little Pony fangame eventually turned into it's own project. Lauren Faust even helped out with the game's art! It's a pretty fast paced fighting game with a small roster, but pretty good variety. It's around 20 USD normally and It's definitely worth checking out. The second game is what I can only describe as the most crackhead fighting game to ever exist. A game that makes insanity like Ding Dong Never Die look tame. And that's Ultra Fight Da ! Kyanta 2! It's a completely free game on Steam where the rules of fighting games just don't fucking exist. There is a character with ONE FRAME NORMALS! There's a character who's missing pretty much all of her kit except for a single grab, and she's high tier! There's a gator detective that eats his gun for a victory pose! The game is fucking wild and I think EVERYONE needs to see this game for how fucking bonkers it is!

One weird spot i would give myself is definitely to the engine MUGEN (or more specifically IKEMEN, as that's what's most often used for games nowdays). There's not only the aspect of making your own roaster with what people make, but there's a lot of handcrafted fighting games of the original and fangame flavour made on it. Games like Kirby Battle Blitz and The Black Heart come to mind as being pretty cool games made on it

Learning and playing +R when the netcode patch came was one of the most gratifying FG experiences I have had. It was hard, and some players were really good but at the time there were plenty of other new players and really, while the game is hard it's not very hard to pick up and start doing cool stuff. These days, I am not so sure how "active" the steam community is, every time I check there is not enough people to even register on steam stats, so less than 200. But even so, it's a great game and if you have a group of friends who like learning new FGs, this is an easy pick.

I might pick it up again some day when my execution is better, it is an incredibly cool and well made game, but skill issue. ACPR is currently my favorite fighting game. Just the sheer amount of cool nonsense in the game is amazing. The fact that every character is somehow viable in a game where Testament isn't even the best character is amazing. It's not perfect, but I love it. I dont have much experience with the rest of the list so instead I will recommend Asura Buster on fightcade.

Shoutout to Pokémon close combat, it’s still in development, has 2 devs and probably won’t feel great to people that have played a lot of FGs, but it has extremely simple inputs and lets you play a fighting game with only Pokémon (not that it’s the only one of those)

This is amazing, I only usually get sf every time it drops a new one and I cant really spend it on other stuff since a single modern fighting game takes up so much of your cash. I swear Fighting games are like the sports game genres with the way it just vacuums your money but a bit more tame

Hyper dragon ball z is the game if you like drgaon ball it cost nothing and has zero pc requirements amazing ost and some pretty nice tech. overall the game can be considered small for modern fg standard but it's definitely worth the try

A passion project in its fourth game is Shadow Fight 4: Arena, a mobile title. The input for this game has been improved in the hardware of newer phones, I think, with the invention of multi-touch. I'm kind of a newbie. I'm going to go lose for a while.

I know this is about "cheap" fighting games but some of these like Skullgirls and +R are actually just my favorite fighting games that I prefer over others. And fightcade just lets you play a WHOLE lot of things. But yeah. Skullgirls is fucking awesome.

You can get quite a few Capcom games for 2$ each through the Capcom Arcade Stadium, also the Arcade Archives have a lot of foghting games including almost every SNK NeoGeo game. King of Fighters 98 & 02 are 15$ each and are some of the best in the series, Steam also has a 35$ bundle with those 2 & KoF 13. Chaos Code & Them's Fightin Herds are some good indie fighters for 20$ each. Arcana Heart is 30$, an underappreciated game with fun gameplay a little bit of customization with you being able to decide which Arcana to use which does give you some different attacks and other things.
