In Canada, we say hello to people when hiking or walking in the neighborhood, just like Norway, but not in cities.

As a Canadian, I have found that small towns are different - folks living in small towns generally say hello even if you don't know the person. However, when I lived in the city and commented in a grocery store to a male about how fresh the buns were, he mumbled "slut" and walked away. At the time I was puzzled by his comment, but in hindsight, perhaps he thought I was referring to his :)

I am reminded of an old Texas tradition about greetings. If you stop by your neighbors house and they visit with you on the front porch, you know you should just visit for a few minutes, because the person is busy. If you are invited to come to the back porch, it is alright to sit and visit for a while. That is what these podcasts are like. We have been invited to your back porch to sit and visit. Thank you.

Oh, Arne and Carlos, I love you more than anything! 🥰 AN.Y.THING!! You bring so much joy and delight to the lives of countless people around the world and you just continue to make my heart sing - one way or another - Every. Single. Day. You are such living examples of how to treat others with dignity and respect, to show honour, courtesy and kindness to others and to dwell in joy and delight while walking this earth. Additionally, you guys are hysterical! You’re the finest team both personally and professionally and I’m so grateful you met each other! It was one of the highlights of my life to get to meet you both when you were in Armstrong, British Columbia and I treasure having your presence in my life, despite from afar right now. Many, many thanks for all you do and the way in which you do it. ♥️♥️ Much love from beautiful British Columbia, 🇨🇦 ♥️🧶🎶😷🙏 🐣 💐

Be adventurous! One of the first things I knitted was a colorwork sweater for my baby. I learned to knit from a book and since no one told me colorwork was an advanced technique I didn't know it was supposed to be hard. I just followed the instructions and made it. Too often we worry about tackling a project as a whole rather than knitting one row at a time.

The chocolate wrappers with the mountain rules are a great idea, for example. I so enjoy hearing about the Norwegian traditions in accordance with the seasons. ❤

You have both freed me from the strictness and rigidity of needle sizing and pattern following I think a lot of knitters could take a leaf from your book, opening our minds and thoughts to knitting freely has been such a move forward to me. When you were talking of mountain walking, then about having a go at anything it struck me, that there are jumpers I have never felt able to tackle, from today that’s changed.

I love the Norwegian sweaters. I had forgotten, but I have a Norwegian sweater for a toddler in my cedar chest. I was a single mom for a couple of years, and to supplement our income, I drove a school bus. On my grammar school run, I had a large contingent of Norwegian families to whom my little one and I became quite close. Every year, another one of our families would go back to Norway to visit relatives, and they would bring me chocolates and such. One year, they brought back a beautiful Norwegian sweater for my son, and he wore it in the cold NJ winter until it didn't fit. We both loved that sweater, and I always thought I'd knit one. That son is 50 years old now, and I only got so far as getting a couple of patterns and ordering the clasps! Some day . . .

Mountain/ Boating rule 2 - adjust your plans according to your ability and adjust as needed - your boating plans have to be appropriate for the size boat and you should change your plans if the weather changes. 🚤🎣 I like your new location. The flowers in your kitchen look great. I happen to agree with the “go for it” attitude towards knitting projects. Just be sure you have the tools needed and a good resource for looking things up.

My Aunt also had the "Happy Norwegian " family patterns. It was published in a book I think by a yarn company. I have some of the older Ski sweater patterns. What fun!

It's very nice to see Tulja every day. I didn't want to say too much about it because I've found myself looking for her on every podcast and it's kind of weird to be looking for a plant? Great visit! Thank you!

Where we live we also say hi when hiking or walking too. Sometimes I forget when we go to the city and I start to say Hi to everyone. My husband says "What are you, the welcoming committee? You don't need to say hi to everyone in the city!" lol!

We often say hello in England but ALWAYS in Yorkshire where everyone is very friendly. I have been told not to say hello to people on the tube in London but I still sometimes do it! Thanks for another great episode that made me laugh as always. Hope you enjoyed the chicken as a change from crab!!!

I do today’s mountain rule well - I do virtual mountain climbing lol! I am 68, and have arthritis in my knees and hips. I have many older patterns like you do - from the 80’s and some older. I always loved older patterns because many times they required more skill, but nowadays it seems that more intricate patterns are coming back.
