This is not an electric car. It uses the petrol engine to charge the battery which drives the car. Similar to an hybrid car but driven 100% by battery

@@Xunxunism you can say that yes, you can also say that this is a gasoline engine powered vehicle that instead of using an hydraulic torque converter it uses an electric one. The above layouts are identical where the first one delivers power through fluid while the second one uses electricity. Saying that this vehicle has ev like propulsion is definitely not true because it lacks many defined ev characteristics like on tap acceleration. On top of that Toyota/Daihatsu have introduced a similar layout for Raize/Rocky and had them wltc tested. The results are far worse as expected when compared to their power split planetary gear system which is a little more expensive but has much more potential.

@@theredbaron7302 Actually it does have a dedicated ev mode for silent motion,for example in the dead of night returning to your neighborhood. Furthermore,The ICE engine it uses has no mechanical connection what so ever to the drive wheels. Instead, the engine is connected to a generator,.It sends electricity to either the battery or invertor(whichever is most in need of power)The inverter then decides how much current to send to the electric motor connecting the drive shafts and thus wheels. A torque converter on the other hand is bolted directly to the engine flywheel. Hydraulic fluid causes the pressure plates to become engaged and move the wheels via the gearbox,all from the flywheels revolutions.

It has two pedals. There is a mode where it behave like normal cars, and modes where it brakes automatically when the driver's foot is off the pedal. The brake pedal is still needed for emergency braking even in those modes.

This is called a series hybrid and its different from the likes of the Prius which is a parallel hybrid

@@mybenchchannel6082 Nissans marketing is trying hard. The are lying about many things, you dont have instant acceleration like an ev, the ice has to rev up first. My facts come from basic engineering knowledge, Nissans system operates exactly like Honda's without the high speed fixed ratio, it is simpler and cheaper. The power a 2kwh battery can produce is something like 30hp maximum? and not for a long distance, it would be impossible for this battery to propel the vehicle at speed, and even worst if this battery was charged by the 100hp ice would overheat and burn half an hour later. Learn about how these systems work and you will understand my point. The battery is there as a buffer zone working like a slushbox torque converter.
