I completely relate to *fearful dressing* but now I've been striving to be more polished/put-together/intentional with my style, the quality of the clothing I'm purchasing, as well as colors & silhouettes most complimentary for me and no longer really following trends.

Preach it!! My biggest temptation/mistake is buying clothes that I’m not 100% happy with. It causes me to compromise on the pieces that I dream about which makes me less than happy whilst wearing it. Causes me to also waste money because even after I’ve bought it I continue looking for something better which make that purchase completely pointless! 🙃

I can definitely relate to fearful dressing. I love silk scarf but whenever I wear it out to work I would take it off later because I feel too overdressed. Still trying to overcome that 😬

I bought silk scarf to use it as a top.. Never wore it 😶 sometime bcz I feel like I am looking very fat and sometime I feel the place is not right for this..and, then I put it back thinking I will wear it someday and that's never gonna come 🤷‍♀️

I have definitely fell into the fearful dressing. For so long I dressed differently so I wouldn’t look out of place with my friends. But then I realized that I didn’t like the way that I dressed and began wearing clothes that made me super confident! And I haven’t looked back!

I bought a dress with puffy sleeves online which I received today. I love it and it looks great on me, but I worry the sleeves are not a good look for my age. I am 64. I tried it on a second time and took pics if myself in it and I think it looks great and makes me feel pretty. After listeming to your point about fearful dressing I have the confidence to wear it with pride! I love your feminine tops and your hair is beautiful! I am also petite and love your channel Great content!

I think you should wear it. As a 20 something year old, it inspiring and rare to see a woman in her 60s or 70s wear more fashionable clothes, which I understand because comfort become priority.

I would add: don't worry about wearing a statement piece or something you love more than once. People are not going to thing "how boring", but they will think oh that's so her, that's so ____'s style.

Number 5 is my biggest issue, being a Nigerian who lives here. Occasions such as weddings (the 2-3 different functions that come with them), occasions where a specific colour has been chosen, or those where people expect you to look a certain way- because who wears monochromatic black to a birthday thingy? I look good in it, chill out! It's just so stressful, ngl.

Bethany: Fearful dressing. So True ❤️❤️❤️‼️. It is going to take time and work. Sigh. I will STILL dress for my style as I learn my style, but I do feel sensitive about other people’s odd reactions. Maybe one day, something very positive will happen for me. But, nevertheless, I will stay on my personal journey of presentation and expression.

I have been learning the past months from actually a few channels and yours is one of them. As I am planning to start building my closet. After baby, I'm not happy with my wardrobe, with the changes in my body, in addition, I have scoliosis which I never took into account in the past, pregnancy makes my curve looks more obvious, it's ugly honestly and no, I am not okay. But I am trying to learn how to dress correctly. Altho I have not really found a dedicated dressing lesson channel for someone with scoliosis. But anyways, I have donated almost half of my closet and putting up items in my wishlist with your guidance, I have checked out some of them. Now spending more time to really think if those items will be worth buying. So thank you so much ❤

Oh my gosh yes, I fear dressing up to go to mundane places 😂. Sometimes I can’t help it and do it anyway. I should probably remind myself that any moment I’ve ever seen someone in a grocery store all dressed up, I’ve only thought to myself that they looked nice and must be on their way to somewhere nice.

Loved this video, today I bought a pair of wide leg green pants that are so beautiful..at first I wasn't sure because I feared what other people may think of them, but I just did it....And I'm so happy, I'm rediscovering my taste and my love for fashion after these two covid years. I am you 5 years ago! Besides dressing myself from head to toe only in one brand, I make all the other mistakes until today! Time for a huge change! Right now my clothes are the ones that fit, because I’m pregnant, but in a few months I’ll be able to explore the world of fashion from a new point of view. Thank you very much one more time!!!! I can relate to fearful dressing 'coz I don't want to catch people's attention with what I'm wearing or doing.. I just started rebuilding my wardrobe and I just realized that most of what I wear are either I'm not that happy to wear or are not suitable for my body type..

Yes, much of today's style comes back to what gets the most likes on social media over finding your own personal style. The "if it gets a lot of likes then I must need it" mindset (even subconsciously).
