CHICAGO, USA - Welcome to Chicago, one of the greatest food cities in the United States. Today we’re going on a Chicago food tour to learn about and eat 5 unique foods that were invented in Chicago - some of them will definitely surprise you!
We’re with my sister Pam and brother in law Derek, who is a Chicago native. If you love coffee, they roast coffee: www.dereksips.com/
1. Jibaritos Y Mas, Chicago, Illinois (goo.gl/maps/6oAQNLAAS6Ef6PyU9) - We’re starting this off with a Puerto Rican Chicago food known as the jibarito, a sandwich made with fried plantains instead of bread. Steak Jibarito - Price - $8.70
2. Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse, Chicago, Illinois (goo.gl/maps/A1HzaEo2XfFDEiDD6) - Next up we’re trying a famous Italian American Chicago dish known as chicken Vesuvio, another dish you can’t miss when you visit Chicago. Chicken Vesuvio - Price - $31.95
3. Fat Johnnie's Famous Red Hots, Chicago, Illinois (goo.gl/maps/rfE9JqU1Gn5JrLEPA) Maybe the funniest of all dishes in Chicago, but with an interesting history, none other than the The Mother In-Law. The Mother In-Law - Price - $3.50
4. Great Sea Restaurant, Chicago, Illinois (goo.gl/maps/zzFe1eurTCF7ftpSA) - Next up to a Korean Chinese restaurant in Chicago that came up with their own unique version of a lollipop chicken wing. Lollipop Chicken Wings - Price - $18.99
5. Palmer House a Hilton Hotel, Chicago, Illinois (goo.gl/maps/SEePk5LLemTh2gLS9) - This is the one that totally surprises most people - literally the brownie - the most famous of all deserts on earth - was invented in Chicago (and it still might be the best brownie I’ve ever had)! Brownie - Price - $8.00
Thank you for watching this Chicago food tour about some of the most unique foods invented in Chicago!

Bourdain was a vanguard, a travel foodie trailblazer who opened up the whole idea for people like Mark, but Mark is great in his own right. Everywhere he goes, people warm to him, he’s so likable, but in addition, he just does such a great job of researching and finding all the great places and foods that are emblematic of the place he is visiting. The comment section is filled with praise from the locals, and from many who visit there to the restaurants and food trucks/carts/shops he has himself visited. He’s a magnificent travel guide! Bourdain we will always remember, his quick wit, and quirky personality we all love him for- but he had a whole network production crew behind him who scoped out the place, provided him with local contacts and guides, arranged his travel - it was a different world for Tony.

Super pleased to see the jibarito featured here! They're so incredibly delicious, and when you pair it with Puerto Rican rice it's unforgettable.

On the Mother-In-Law, the tamale has to be a Tom-Tom Tamale or it just doesn't hit right. Tom-Tom is a south side classic.

Exactly this. Funny how I grew upon them back in the 70’s. My grandpa would get them and we’d boil them up and eat them. Probably the most garbage tamale you can get nowadays! Lol. But yes, it HAS to be a Tom Tom to make a proper mother in law.

I just requested it from my wife, since we moved from Chicago to Arizona 3 years ago, she hasn't made it yet.

That's the way ya butter a steak contrary to these lunatics who brown the butter and baste the steak in the pan. Instead you simply brush the steak with unbrowned butter while resting. Perfect.
