Ohh!! I heard about the Submarine story! Lazy Masquerade told the story in one of his unsolved mysteries videos. Last time I heard, it was unsolved. Glad to hear the man is finally in prison and was charged with everything. The one thing i didn’t realize was that it was a kickstarter story too! That surprised me alot...

The submarine sounds like a movie plot. I know, I know it's not a movie and the bad guy was a sick freak and I get that, but even still... It's the plot of a horror thriller but with a real art house ending.

Have you ever covered Hiveswap in one of your videos? It's a pretty fascinating story--the kickstarter was a success, the developer took all the money to make their own game leaving the actual creator in the dust, and the creator had to make his own video game company and make the game from scratch with none of the funds from the campaign--and it somehow managed to work out and everyone got what they were promised!

A kickstarter ended in a dead lady and snuff porn.... Welp I didn't see that coming.

*Sigh* It was all over the news in Scandinavia with the murder of Kim Wall by Peter, it made my blood run cold when I read about what he did AND the fact that he had all that hardcore snuff shit on his computer. Plus even more disturbing is that Madsen allegedly admitted later to that he slept next to Kim's corpse.But there's more, he's also being investigated for a murder that happened in Denmark of a female Japanese 22 year old tourist by the name of Kazuko Toyonaga back in 1986, as it turned out Madsen was not far from the place where parts of her body had been found, she had also been dismembered like Kim Wall was and there are plenty of similarities between the two cases. As it stands, this whole thing is far from over and I would not be surprised if the Danish authorities go out and say that they're charging Peter with the murder of Toyonaga.

Jesus. That submarine one was sick. To see that dude waving and smiling right after he did that to that poor woman.

The second you said "submarine" I had alarm bells going off in my head.

Putting a happier tale after sub story was probably intended as a pallet cleanser--a nice idea. But the tonal shift from from brutal murder to jokey self-promotion was whiplash-inducing.

I read about the topic a while back, and it turns out that "too successful" campaigns on KickStarter is a thing that happens more often than one might think. Basically, the idea is, the people behind the campaign now feel extra pressure to deliver, and that can cause them to second-guess themselves at every turn which can lead to delays, and backs can have higher expectations than can actually be delivered, so that a perfectly adequate product (meaning, what was promised was what they got) is unjustly viewed as a let-down.

I definitely didn't see that submarine story going the way it did either. There are some very bad people in the world, to be sure. I know it happened some time ago at this point, but my thoughts still go out to Kim Wall's family.

Actually, Savini Jason wasn't just a skin. Unlike Retro Jason, who was a reskin of Part 3 Jason, it was a unique Jason with his own abilities and unique weapon. Some people didn't take too kindly to this, and whilst I can understand them giving kickstarter backers a reward, giving them something that actually has unique functionality isn't exactly the smartest idea in the world. But perhaps the biggest slap in the face to anyone who backed the game, or even just bought it once they saw it for themselves was the lawsuit that caused the game to halt all future content with no intentions of continuing it once a settlement with the lawsuit is reached.

When I first saw the UC3 Nautilus, I thought "Why do I recognise that guy? Oh no, was it that guy who murdered that journalist on his submarine!?"

Wery intresting story about Peter Madsen. We swedes mostly got the Kim Wall's story as an freelance journalist and her relatives, and then closely followed the Court process of Peter Madsen. Nothing was told about the Indiegogo's and Peter Madsen as a genius guy (Or perhaps it did, but then it was just an footnote that I never saw...) Never expected to see that story on an Kickscammer episode!

If you want an example of just a skin, Retro Jason is just that. Same stats as Part 3 with same model and just different textures and music.

Never mentioned anythign about the Kickstarter thing. BUt yeah. Something about the hatch falling on her and then stuff hapening. Hmm.: interesting.

That reporter one always gets me. Can you imagine being that reporter, probably excited to be reporting on something deemed that important, having it explained to you by someone deemed an important person, and than having it turn into a nightmare and just like that you're gone from the world. It's why nothing infuriates me more than people protecting celebrities who do harmful and shitty things.

That was crazy to hear the name Mighty Rabbit on this video. I know those guys personally, I went to school with them, and even started my own (less successful) game company in the same incubator as them. We all worked in the same office for about a year. Never expected to see anything of theirs on a youtube video, that's crazy!

I really think 'star citizen' needs the Slopes treatment. It's a hell of a story $180 million thus far, a game supposed to be released in 2014/2015 and still years off. Questionable fund management (including rumours of money miss spent on devs partners acting career) horrendous time management. There is so much going on here it could easily cover a whole episode on its own!!!

I'm not convinced the murder should have been on this list. Perhaps its own video if you wanted to discuss it but honestly putting it almost in the middle meant I was just dwelling on it for the whole last segment. I wouldn't go as far as calling it disrepectful but it puts everything else in perspective.

This video was way more interesting than I expected - subscribed. I've heard of people trying desperately to hunt down a copy of Glory to Rome, but I had no idea this was the story behind that. And wow - the submarine story really threw me. It was so much worse than anything I could have imagined.

Suggestion for you -- "Dragon Forged LED Dice Vault and Polyhedrals by Gravity Dice." Misleading campaign, yet they still made an effort to provide the rewards they were planning on (even if they weren't what was being implied by the description). Quality control went out the window, after years of delays they ended up just shipping out what they had, the majority of which were just crap quality...and the company's owners ended up going bankrupt and ultimately selling the company to a group of employees. I was one of the lucky few to get a refund before everything went belly up.

i still remember the Peter Madsen incident. it was all over Norwegian news. the scandinavian countries really keep themselves toghether

the story about the submarine was by far the most disgusting ever, i understand that running with the money is something normal, but killing and doing all that to her is totally psycho job.

As a huge Friday the 13th fan, and a staunch supporter of that game, I feel that it just couldn't catch a break. It took off, did well, but then it was a constant barrage of bugs and issues. Now, this, to me anyway, is acceptable, as Gun is a small team. It takes them time to weed out and kill off those things. But the internet...being the internet threw a hissy fit about it. That's bad enough, but despite that, the game is in a good spot and has seen regular free content updates and even some fairly priced paid cosmetic DLC. Until the recent lawsuit involving rights to the series and in particular Jason Voorhees as a character reared it's ugly head. The case has been around for a while but initially it was believed that it wouldn't affect the video game and instead only the movie rights for the franchise. Of course as anyone who's followed this game knows...that unfortunately is no longer the case. And it was announced that all future content for the game will no longer be happening. Gun's hands are tied, they legally CANNOT do so with a cease and desist. And then when asked if in the future if the case gets ruled over, will they then continue development on the planned content? The answer of course being no, because they'd have to work now on content that may or may not ever be able to be released. That's understandably upset a lot of folks. But if you look at it realistically, can you blame them? Spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on content now that you may very well NEVER get to use, or suck it up and call it quits. The decision makes logical sense, no matter how much it sucks to admit that. But the good news is that the game's servers are staying up and the promised dedicated server implementation for the console version of the game is still scheduled to happen. You can still play the game just fine, just no further content will be added. It'll still be moderated and patched for bugs though. Thole whole saga for this game has been an emotional roller coaster for a fan of it, and it's unfortunate, because it really IS a super cool and fun game, and a complete love letter for fans of the franchise with a lot of attention paid to minute series details.

Ah hell, I see the submarine story coming because two people together in an isolated area especially in the middle of nowhere for most of the time end up horribly wrong. I was hoping I was wrong about it but oh dam oh jeez.

On #5, feel for him... on my second startup (I was maybe 19 at the time) I was definitely there. If you don't quite understand working capital & pricing strategy yet (I was underselling my competitors by 50% with no subsidy buffer [ie: Gillette price model - see XBOX launch, PS2 & PS3 launch, Uber at launch], so clearly I did not), you learn shipping is certainly part of that. Small (or large) hiccups with suppliers, vendors, customs (free international shipping, dear god!!!) will erase all your margins and begin putting you in a hole. You think, as you keep digging, that sales are good so maybe you can use that to get out... but that's the fallacy because, with no margins and increasing liabilities to just deal with backorders, you have no resources to scale with. Every new order becomes a backorder and everyone you deal with is angry at you... and who will want to deal with you then? Good luck getting any safe lines of credit or investors to bail you out if your reputation gets shot too. Thus the only way out is through crisis management... basically, save yourself. Luckily I had a mentor who pulled me out of the tunnel vision sooner, rather than later. Sold the company and IP at a barely breakeven cost that was still a loss (forgot to pay myself too), but under the new team they filled all my backorders, saved the brand that flourishes to this day, and probably saved my sanity. In the startup world we're fond of saying failure is part of the journey, after-all it's how we learn things, but there need to be something left of you to be able to fight another day. If crowdfunding platforms approached the campaigns they 'work with' more like how incubators & accelerators approach projects & companies, with actual due diligence and a guiding hand, people would actually get products and companies could florish to scale, polish, and support. But, if that happened we wouldn't have the egregiousness that makes this series so great!
