For ghost ships, the coolest part is the reappearing ships. The stories in New England, Canada and England describe reoccurring omens of death. This is caused by the giant circulating current in the North Atlantic (the North Atlantic current). This causes abandoned ships to come back every 3 to 7 years (also happens with containers). In addition to being creepy, these floating wrecks are very dangerous being unlit and in well traveled sea lanes.

So the Dutch author wasn't actually caught because of his book, but because he moved to a different city, and the new residents did some renovations, and the construction team found the skeleton of his wife beneath some concrete - he confessed to the murder, and in 2001 he was sentenced to 7 years in prison, but got out in 2003 for good behaviour... The man spent about 2 years in jail - thats the real fucking horror story imo

I'm from Amsterdam, Holland and I've seen the writer who killed his wife. he lived in a ground floor apartment in Amsterdam, near Anne Frank's house. I walked by his house with a good friend of mine. We walked by his window and saw an old man sitting alone in his chair. My friend pointed at the man and said that he was the infamous writer who killed his wife. The old man smiled and waved at us and nodded his head with a creepy smile. He walked to his window and said "Yes it's me". I will never forget that moment.

I read Killer Candy. Had me LOLing and compulsively page turning. The two of you should collaborate on a book based on Modern Rogue-ishness. Imagine the antagonist and protagonist (be they individuals or nation-states) utilizing strategies based in the principles of misdirection in a conflict. Use tactics discussed in episodes to resolve the conflict - lockpicking, codes and ciphers, survival skills, mainstream and esoteric martial arts, etc. I think it would be quite entertaining.

Re: Horror movie tropes. I can’t really explain how this happened, how I managed to become aware of it, or (for the love of all things cute and fuzzy) how I managed to witness the photos, aside from stating that it took place in a small town in southeast Alaska many decades ago and I became aware of it just a single decade back. It happens that people tend to be on their worst behavior when intoxicated and away from their homes and when two people with questionable default conditions happen to be in a classic, old style hotel and those two people also happen to be way too drunk for anyone’s benefit.. to make this reasonably readable I’ll shorten it to the following: The husband was abusive and drunk, the wife was really tired of the abuse and drunk, so when the philandering abuser passes out and the “sick of it” wife sobers up just enough to regain the use of her hands, she acquires the fire axe from the hallway and separates her husbands’ various appendages from his torso (yes, I’m including his head as an appendage) and then as the alcohol wears off yet further, she panics and hastily tries to determine the best course of action.. Again, I shorten the narrative: She decides to wrap the separated bits in towels and deposit them into the ocean. Problem solved! Ooooooooor is it!? No. Because the tide runs in two directions and within mere hours children and dogs and families and grandparents are making the most fascinating discoveries while walking along the various footpaths near the towns harbors. Anyhow, I’ve seen the photos of the separate bits as well as the “reconstructed (placed near enough to each other to become recognizable as a person)” parts and pieces and can vouch for the fact that the woman was, in fact, given time in prison (back when all that was available was black and white film) for her choices.

You missed one: _torture-tourism/redrooms._ Just a few months ago, Dutch police found several shipping containers that had been turned into "torture chambers". 😕 I guess it was inevitable that if it wasn't already real before movies like _Hostel_ came out, then it would eventually happen after. 🤷 🤦 This is just another symptom of overpopulation; when you've got 8 billion people, it's _much_ more likely for crap like this to happen. 😒 This is definitely the worst and scariest one. 11:58 - Have you seen the CNN clip of Anderson Cooper's RidicuList reporting on Dyngus Day? 😂

Dark web redrooms almost certainly do not exist. That's a pop culture misconception.
@HandleMyBallsYouTube
@HandleMyBallsYouTube 3 жыл бұрын
@@Max-gp9bj Well it's hard to say for certain, but it is true that it's more likely you're going to find something like that on the surface web rather than the dark web, and even then it's not like this shit is easy to come by, but you can definitely find some fucked up shit already that's on the surface web, seen some fucked up gore stuff in my time and none of it has been on the dark web. I'd say it's more likely you can find sites where you can get access to videos / pics of people being tortured which is just as fucked up of course, but streaming something live on the dark web is just not gonna happen. If anyone ever tells you they've stumbled across a red room on the dark web then yeah they're absolutely full of shit, even if something like that did exist the chances that you'd just randomly come across that are slim. You can still find fucked up shit on the internet in general.
@AstralBelt
@AstralBelt 3 жыл бұрын
@@Max-gp9bj They exist in spirit, but the actual idea of "dark web red rooms" doesn't exist. You don't have to look much further than something like the Korean Nth Rooms to see that there do exist these large communities of people who pay and distribute the harming of people. The only difference is that most of the incidents were not live, but the idea of the people in control of the rooms forcing innocents to do horrible things to themselves is very much there.

A company in my hometown won a contract to dismantle various countries military ghost ships but was massively hampered by do-gooders who cost the area hundreds of millions over years of work/wages. There was a CIA op in the Philippines where they dislodged fortified insurgent elements by killing the last man in a patrol then draining his blood and leaving the corpse. Before doing so, they circulate rumors of an local folklore monster in the area. Something that drinks blood like a vampire. After a few of the insurgent's men showing up dead and drained of blood as if attacked by a mythical monster, the area is deemed unsafe and they move. The move means they have a less prepared and less fortified position so it is easier to attack them with regular troops. Major General Edward Lansdale was the name of the CIA operative that thought up the operation. His rank was from his position in the air force but he also worked for the CIA.

Flagellation is a spiritual tradition in multiple religions including Catholicism and Islam. They didn't literally think they'd cure the plague by smacking themselves. They did it for reasons similar to why they would fast or practice celibacy. In Catholicism, there is a practice called Mortification. This is when you do things like not complain when it's cold out, not snack in between meals, not say swear words, and a laundry list of other things that are practiced for the sake of calming the soul and taking control of oneself.

Frankenstein, backwoods killer, ghost ships, literate murder, blood cultists. Frankenstein was strange and absurd, perhaps more so than the book/movies since it achieved nothing. Backwoods killer is pretty much exactly what it is in movies and it’s scary to think about. We know why ghostships exist. The murderer/story writer was an idiot but he still committed murder. Blood cults were in no way like they would be in pop culture because they hurt themselves to save others instead of killing others to better themselves/appease “the gods.”

Whenever I hear a weird noise outside I usually go through the kitchen, grab a knife, and go out, alone, without telling anyone where I'm going, to see what that noise was, Yeah, I'm *that* guy.

Can we have a 'ghost ship' type episode? Not like about them but one where a Modern Rogue episode just rolls up into our feeds and there's no one in it. Like your edits and cuts all still happen but there's no one in any of the shots.

Horror movie trope, group of people get stranded somewhere and turn to eating each other for survival. It’s based off the Donner party, and the irony is they were dying of hypothermia, not starvation, but because no one was a doctor they didnt know.
