New elements help promote innovation and diversity - they keep gymnastics interesting and push the sport forward.
While it's hard to assume if the athletes are seriously considering adding certain moves to their routines based on training videos, new skills are always met with excitement from the gymnastics community.
In this video, we'll take a look at 5 skills we can expect to enter the Code of Points in the upcoming years.

@@margaretkinnaman8585 exactly! Turns can be so beautiful when executed well. I love watching dance and gymnastics. On beam dance elements should be rated more than E but on floor the cap should stay, I mean a triple turn with leg at horizontal it's not more difficult than a triple twist, a full in, etc IMO. The E transition cap on ub doesn't make sense, I mean the point of having the low bar it's to make transitions, if not just compete men's high bar.

Actually an L Turn is more difficult than a pirouette, because the free leg being held out in front of you pulls your center of balance outward instead of keeping it tight to your core making it more difficult to keep your weight centered over your standing leg and not fall out of the turn.

I wasn't even aware of the E cap on UB transitions. I'd still be against it, but is it for safety reasons? No wonder I haven't seen a Strong since Lori Strong herself did it.

Tumbling and dance elements are equally important in the sport. Therefore, there shouldn't be a cap. Saying a triple l turn and a triple twist aren't equally as hard is irrelevant. When determining a turn's dv, you should be thinking of the turn's difficulty in relative to other turns not tumbling passes....... A regular triple turn should be an e because it's harder than a double or single turn not because it's harder than a double twist..... Between tumbling and turns. There's no basis for comparison. We also have to throw in the fact that many gymnast who can do a triple twist can't do a triple turn. There's need to be a distinction between gymnast who can do high level turns and gymnast who cannot. For example, Simone Biles and Sanne Wevers shouldn't be getting the same points in dance elements. The sport is set up in a way is that there is no noticeable different value between gymnast who can do turns and leaps and gymnast who can not. Obviously, a gymnast whose biggest tumbling pass is a double twist isn't gonna get the same acro points as Simone. Yet, we're supposed to be ok with the fact that a gymnast doing a double turn and a gymnast doing a quadruple turn is only differentiated by .1............... That's not fair. The COP should promote gymnast being equally good at both but with turns and leaps being capped. You just need to be good at tumbling.
@pakopaez
@pakopaez 3 жыл бұрын
Exacto.

@@ianstratton1629 No. Men's gymnastics is weird in that Arabian tumbling is considered back tumbling. But in women's gymnastics it's considered front tumbling and valued higher. I think the difference in rules has to do with the fact that in MAG, the skill is determined by the "entry" position - ie if you go in backwards, it's considered back tumbling, whereas in WAG the skill is determined by the position the gymnast is facing after the first salto - ie if you enter the second salto going forwards it's considered front tumbling. It's weird that the rules are different between the two, and to be honest the women's rules make more sense. The difficulty of the Arabian (compared to true back tumbling) is after all the forward momentum and blind landing.

@bagelized
@bagelized 3 жыл бұрын
@@captainbryce1 I like the men's rule much more. I mean, gymnasts get the power need to perform an Arabian from the backwards entry, which is more than significant. The double Arabian is just an entirely different skill from the double front and really shouldn't be considered front tumbling, in my opinion. Just because it transforms into a forward-facing skill doesn't mean that it becomes front tumbling.

For the Nab 1/2, they need to make the half turn before grasping the bar. So far in training videos, I’ve only seen Sanne do that. The others grasp the bar in mixed grip, forcing them to do the “half” after they grasp the bar.

@captainbryce1
@captainbryce1 3 жыл бұрын
@@heathrdarling It's not impossible (as we have seen her train it into a pit), but it's highly unlikely that she'd put that in a routine. 1) It's too dangerous and would be devalued by the FIG. She wouldn't risk an injury only to be penalized anyway. 2) She's nowhere near close to landing it upright. Even if she managed to put it to her feet on the mat, she would incur so many deductions that it wouldn't be worth doing. So no, the triple back ain't happening anytime soon (tuck or pike).

@@captainbryce1 oh I totally agree it’s unlikely and not worth the risk. I said it’s not impossible if she wanted to land that skill. She was training it to land the double on vault so she had no reason to go harder to actually land a triple on the pit mat or eventually the floor.

There is no "half turn" in the air at all,not even 1/4. They all just let the mixed grip momentum carries them AFTER grasping the bar, which is underwhelming and does not deserve an H.
@BubbyNikko
@BubbyNikko 3 жыл бұрын
Ikr, I was expecting a half turn in the air and was already thinking "Woah, if any girl is capable of that she must be the strongest ever". However, I think what is very difficult here is connecting the next skill to the low bar without being thrown away from the apparatus: the Nabieva itself requires a giant amount of strength and the mixed grip at the end seems to be dangerous if the gymnast can't control the rotation.
@_padfoot

I think these two new variations deserve exactly the same rating as the existing Nabieva. I don't see the rationale in giving a higher rating for a root entry that gets the same rating in every other scenario (clear hip vs. toe-on handstand, shaposhnikova vs. maloney, etc etc)
