It makes no logical sense to me, but somehow a giant-ass Bowie knife is more intimidating than a short sword or machete of comparable size.

I think that I purchased the Cold Steel Natchez Bowie and the Laredo Bowie when I was twenty-six or twenty-seven years old, I'm now fifty-eight (tomorrow) and I still love these blades after all of these many-many years. We clearly have many blades in common sir. I wear very baggy clothes so it makes it very easy to carry the Busse Hell Razor 2 Bowie in a custom kydex sheath every day (every day) for the past seven months (I think that it has been at least seven months) now, and there is very little printing. From Taekwondo (when I was much-much younger), to both Kali and Maphilindo Silat (later in my life), I've developed a very healthy respect for the many uses of the blade. Even when simply used in bushcraft, the blade is absolutely priceless. The blade (and the Tomahawk) are absolutely my favorite tools. Be well sir.

Wow you concealed carry a Bowie knife? That's quite an accomplishment.
@westonknight7474
@westonknight7474 Жыл бұрын
@@andycraig6905 It's always given me a kind of thrill to have a very functional tool on me under my baggy clothes that I've always worn. Over the years, sometimes I've carried a Battle Horse Knives "The Dutchman" (this one I've carried on me for a very-very long time...a very long time), I've also carried the Bark River Bravo 1, 1.5, and 2 (I'd just wear the one that I was feeling special about at the moment)...I think it really had a lot to do with the blade that I was using continually in practice...but, yep going back into my twenties I've always had one, or two large blades on me. Baggy clothes are wonderful. Baldric carring a tops Bushcrafter Kukuri that I had Jim Stewart from Bark River Knives customize (he really did an extremely....EXTREMELY beautiful one-of-a-kind custome job that I will cherish as long as I live on this knife) and this is put into a custom Baldric rig from Yellow Hawk Sheaths...Doug Wilson absolutely knocked it out of the park with this one of a kind custom rig. So, I make sure to put these (and sooo many others through their paces continually)...I really like to know what a tool can, and cannot do so that there are no surprises. I've clearly gone down a rabbit hole 🕳 with my response my brother, and I'm sorry for my long-winded responce...but now you know how much of a nerd I am....and don't get me started on my flashlights...🤔🤗 At any rate, please take good care of yourself my brother, and please be well.✌️

@@westonknight7474 I can’t judge you, for I obsess over things as well.. the only thing worth obsessing over, is familial bonds and the bonds to the one creator. I know you have had unexplainable, one in a billion coincidences before.. you cannot deny it. To say it is all random is a lie, and in every man’s heart there is the truth. Most try to bury it with drink, food, sex, earthly possessions, and the list goes on and on. To deny yourself the fathomlessness love that Jesus Christ has for you is the root of all that consummation and obsession. It is what allows the devil and his legions of demons to play with your mind and put “intrusive thoughts” in your head.

I want that 1917 frontiersman Bowie. The size of those begs the old question- when does it stop being a large knife and become a short sword? The conclusion I’ve come to is there in no clear line it depends on how you look at it. Any one of those could be considered a short sword by historical standards.

These are some sweet looking art pieces. But they reminded me of something an acquaintance showed me years ago. Knife gloves. No, not gloves with knives, but a pair of leather looking gloves lined with something that allowed him to grip the blade of a knife and not get cut. He demonstrated it with a kitchen knife, and they worked a treat. I wasn't able to find a pair of them when I looked online. Maybe I should look again. Could be very useful where I live.
