Your channel is very impressive! Your videos are so informative, but can you please do video/s about sightreading a flute musical sheet with all symbols (for example: buzzing symbols, glissando, etc.) I'm always struggling in playing flute not because of the flute itself, but because I'm not familiarize with all the symbols in a music sheet. Whenever I'm searching a video about it on the internet, always piano sheet sightreading tutorials are popping out. Many symbols that can be found in flute sheets are not in the piano sheets. Hope that you can help, thank you! BTW, your channel is great, don't stop informing flutists with your knowledge! Good luck!

7:28 if you listen to the note’s slight wavering quality, you’ll realize that it actually follows the rhythm of her heartbeat. As the heart pumps next to the lungs, it slightly changes the pressure on the lungs, which you can then hear as small wavering sounds in the pitch (almost like a form of vibrato). You only really tend to notice it on softer notes using gentle air, and it’s something I noticed while doing this exercise.

@syl kat You surely do well at working on your endurance! But l can tell you that one of the reasons why beginners run out of breath sooner, apart from having less endurance, is that a lot of the time they're still not very good at directing the air into the hole, so they "waste" air so to say and so they need more So that's one of the reasons why beginners have a hard time at playing longer phrases The support with the diaphragm is very important as well Playing flute is like singing rather than blowing out candles or cooling out a hot soup You breathe in, and lock/push the diaphragm (try to shout loud as if you needed to call someone far away if you don't know what it means, and notice what happens to your gut), so do that movement with your diaphragm, and then try to relax your throat and face Don't actively blow with your face/cheeks as if you were blowing out candles, but imagine you were singing, push the diaphragm and relax the upper airways while trying to direct the air into the hole

This helped me so much! I was diagnosed with asthma at a really young age. I have been playing flute for 5 years now and these exercises helped me with my breathing while playing, and even when breathing in general. They seemed so boring when my teacher first taught me but they really do help. My asthma is a lot better now, there are a few reasons why, but I believe playing flute was something that helped me the most. Btw, I love your videos, Amelie!

Do you breath with your nose ?!?! We teachers told me sooooo often to don't do that, that this is the first thing I noticed 😅 And, do you vibrate during breathing exercises ? Or are we supposed to focus on the tone and the sound quality ? Anyway, cool video, I'll try tomorrow before beginning practicing...
@flutechannel
@flutechannel 4 жыл бұрын
No, just fast silent breaths and developing the ability to open up all the 3D zones in the lungs and fill up fast. Sure you can vibrate as well and make it a vibrato exercise as well. But it really depends.

Hi, love your video lessons. In this lesson 5 Levels of Flute Breathing Easy to Pro" am I crazy or are you not playing E in the first and second measure as opposed to the F that is written? At 9:58 and 10:08 respectively. Thanks!

Can you help me? When I play a note like D, the note won’t come out it’s just air and then I’ll try again taking the flute away and readjusting my mouth and flute mouth piece it will finally come out but I’ll try again and it’s back to square one. What am I doing wrong?

Does your flute have any leaks? When my flute had leaks my low register would give me trouble. Or it could be your mouth placement. I can't remember what the term is called. Sometime when switching registers, you would have to make tiny adjustment to the mouth positions by rolling out or in. Hope it helps.

Yes, its called a solexa thumbport II. I think if you search the "Flute Specialist" store on google you'll find it there. Most flute specialty shops carry it.
