5 MIN Skincare MORNING Routine for ANY Age & Gender (Let's Not Complicate Things)
It's been almost a year since I've shared my AM skincare routine, so here is my updated regimen. (Spoiler alert: not much has changed.)
Nonetheless, I'm demonstrating my quick & simple--but highly effective--skincare routine I do every morning. Consistency is the name of the game. You don't have to use the products I use. I use these products because they've been time-tested by me and work very well on my skin; and I stick with what works. A basic cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen is all you need. Adding an antioxidant serum (Vitamin C, for example) is optional but not a necessity, in my opinion.
Products used:
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser: amzn.to/3cGVlxF
Vitamin C+E Ferulic Acid Serum: amzn.to/2RmQqsb
CeraVe PM Ultra Lightweight Moisturizing Lotion: amzn.to/336ylUo
Olay Complete Daily Defense SPF30 Sensitive Skin (fragrance free): amzn.to/3x9dZYq
CeraVe Healing Ointment: amzn.to/38BqE9z
Free Trial of Amazon Prime Video - Watch Thousands of Movies & TV Shows Anytime
(I canceled my cable for this & love it): amzn.to/3e4QDvK

Since I mentioned I’m currently using a lower SPF: The SPF number tells you how long UV radiation would take to redden your skin when using the product as directed (that part is very important!!) vs. the amount of time w/out any sunscreen. So, when applying an adequate SPF 30, it would take you 30x longer to burn than if you weren’t wearing any sunscreen. SPF 30 protects against about 97% of UV rays while an SPF of 50 protects against about 98%. Products with higher SPFs often create a false sense of security. This is compounded by improper (inadequate) application. I will admit that I don’t reapply SPF on a daily basis. My consistent routine is applying an adequate amount once daily in the morning and wearing a broad-brimmed hat whenever I step out; and I call it a day. It would obviously be better (ideal) if I reapplied every 2 hrs throughout the day, but I’m telling you what I actually practice, so I’d be lying if I said I reapply sunscreen everyday every 2 hrs, because I don’t. Only when I’m spending inordinate time outdoors do I reapply. Bottom line: Applying a lower number SPF is FAR more effective and critical than insufficiently applying a higher SPF with the expectation of being protected. The “best” sunscreen, therefore, is the one you will apply as a daily habit for life. Wear your sunscreen, use enough of it, and call it a day; and wear a sun hat for added protection!

The first person to demonstrate a proper application of mineral sunscreen. Bravo! This is the amount of sunscreen that must be applied. The demonstration shows how it must be worked in to the skin, the true initial cast and how it will fade with absorption. This is an excellent video!

I completely agree with you about companies not asking your permission before reformulating their products!!! Seriously, companies need to understand that so many people have very reactive, allergic and/or sensitive skin and that even minor tweaks in their formulas can really flare a person's skin condition. No idea why they can't just keep products the way they are and opt to create a different product entirely with the new ingredients that way everyone wins.

I just found your channel, and let me say it’s so refreshing to find an Asian person not using 10-15 steps 😂 I used a 10-step Korean skincare routine for about a year and while the results were great, I couldn’t afford it long term and knowing me, I would’ve stopped because it was too many steps.

You should check out the brand Black Girl Sunscreen, the kid’s version has a higher SPF but it’s amazing, it doesn’t leave a white cast at all and it actually leaves the skin glowing and moisturized. They have a matte version as well

I just want to say I adore you. You motivate me to want to live a more beneficial and healthy life style. Everything you do I want to do. Being as I am 21, I know I’m young, but struggling with depression for a while, my skin isn’t as happy and supple as it used to be. I am trying to dedicate my time to my diet using some of your great methods, and trying to wear sun screen everyday. My skin is so sensitive, the sun screen makes them water a lot. Sending you love, support, and blessings. ❤️

I love how you are motivating us to uncomplicate our skincare routines😇 because really that is what we all need to learn in this era of ever so complicated skincare product launches🙄

I love how you don’t endorse fad skincare routines / or trendy skincare routines (🙄 the 10 step Korean skin care) and use what is the most effective for you, all the while having a more simpler approach. In the meantime, your principles towards taking care of your skin is so respectable. I honestly like how your skincare becomes more like a natural approach towards taking care of yourself. Like a philosophy you live by. Compared to other people who becomes so compulsive and strict with their skincare, it makes a normal person be pushed away by their routines. Always trying to one up another. You are extremely relaxed with your skin and not too obsessed over having the latest greatest products. It also helps that you are lenient with yourself and not too hard on yourself whenever you do slip up. In a time where everyone is obsessed with anti-aging, the smallest thing that can be indicative of “skin aging” can drive them nuts and the amount of fear that gets associated with “aging”. I like your attitude towards skin care and not afraid of “aging” itself, but rather doing something that will maintain your overall skin’s health as well as MENTAL health important! People forget that you can’t have good skin without having a good mental well-being. Being too diligent isn’t always good

I’ve heard that some sunscreens are actually not high in UVA protection even if they have a high UVB protection and UVA is what ages the skin the most. Now I always look for sunscreens with a high UVA (PPD) protection like:

You have been one of my biggest inspirations. You really have helped me these past few years. I started Tretinion in 2020 and have been using the same style routine as you. Also, my doctor recommended almost the same routine 😊 And I’ve seen an incredible improvement in my skin! I had horrible acne. I love using the Elta MD SPF 41 (tinted) sunscreen. Im 29 now and feeling so happy to have a fantastic skincare routine.💗
