I went pretty hardcore on the minimalism. Sold everything I own except for 4 suitcases of stuff (for my whole family) and moved out of the country. Felt good getting rid of so much junk, now everything that I own has a purpose.

How did you go about getting rid of mementos? I find that to be the one area where it’s most difficult to get rid of things
@MichaelMoscoso
@MichaelMoscoso Жыл бұрын
@@Danijanet this may sound weird, but we divided mementos into two categories. High value and low value. Low value meaning things that give us a smile and bring back memories when we see them, and high value meaning an important part of our history, something we could never part with. We took the low value items and took good photos of them, sometimes video if it made sense. And the high value items we put into a couple of storage totes that we left at my parents house. I think it worked well for us, but might not for others.

The only thing I'd add, I agree to your point about a goal being short enough to not get discouraged, but I'd take that a step further and say just commit to doing it today. Then tomorrow, commit to doing it that day. The "one day at a time" mentality worked wonders for me. Solid video as always.

Saving money while raising a baby is almost a miracle. A single bachelor can do extreme things like living out of a car and using gym membership for showers etc but living relatively “normally” and pull this off without resorting to charities like going to the food bank and eating in various soup kitchens doing it with dignity is a method I like in your approach

The fact that you believed in something enough to try it for 90 days created a habit (formed in 21 days) for you in that area. It's not really tricking yourself if you believe in what you're doing. Kudos to finding what works for you! And - someone who works a FT job and takes time to do things on the side to better themselves is NOT lazy! Keep on keeping on!!

Habits don’t form in 21 days. Formation of a habit works off of two primary factors: 1. How difficult the action/proposed habit is, and 2. How often you repeat the habit (a habit will form twice as quickly if you do it twice a day).

Understanding personal finances and investing will most likely lead to greater financial independence. By being knowledgeable about money and investing, individuals can make informed decisions about how to save, spend, and invest their money. Stocks are pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over 250k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are alot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look.

The best course of action if you lack market knowledge is to ask a consultant or investing coach for guidance or assistance. Speaking with a consultant helped me stay afloat in the market and grow my port-folio to about 65% since January, even though I know it sounds obvious or generic. I believe that is the most effective way to enter the business at the moment.

I wouldn’t say I am a full minimalist, however I have always been good at understanding and accepting delayed gratification. This allowed me, on an average salary, to retire at 49. My income now in retirement is the same or better than my post tax/savings income when I was working and I’m good with that. I don’t need or want the latest handbags/shoes etc, and I live a much simpler life now… I loved hearing about essentialism from you, which I see as more of who I am. Thank you for your videos.

We switched from a pellet stove and are saving a lot of money, plus our home is warmer. We go out once every few weeks, rather than every Friday. We are buying clothes only when we need them and buying from BJ'S rather than local grocery stores. I suppose we save a few hundred every other month. I work from home which saves a bunch of money. I work out at home...no gym fees. I'm not antisocial...just trying to be more efficient. I cut way back on sugar. We live quite comfortably on very little money. Daily I declutter half a dozen or so items because space makes the house look bigger.
