If I had a nickel for every fencing highlight vid set to the tune of stolen dance by Milky chance I'd have 2 nickels. Which isn't much but odd that it's happened twice ;p

@@OlympicFoil I just watched Sera Azuma vs Sabrina Massialas and kinda had a miserable time tbh 😂 They kept HUGE distance the whole time and I felt like half the actions were super close simul/AIP calls. I did pick up on an action or two Azuma did that I may try -- the counter attack where she angles the foil up to hit in high line while blocking out an opponent who is marching in low absence is a fascinating idea.

Not to say the fencing was bad -- far from it -- just not a super entertaining bout imo

why don't they use a bit heavier swords?

I think it's to prevent serious injuries but not sure actually

It's roughly the same blade design of the 1700's foils. Back then that was safe and the real swords were the triangular cross sectioned smallswords. The pistol grip began as something for those medically hindered to grasp a sword grip. Today we minmax knowing it's just a game. I myself think the pistol grip foil is nice looking while the pistol grip epee is an atrocious mess looking thing. Humans; am I right?
